Wk 24 Weigh In

I was quite surprised today when I weighed in. I lost 3 pounds this week! Woo-hoo!! On a scary side note... I have 66.6 pounds left to goal. Nothing like having the number of the beast as the number of pounds to go! Sheesh! Say a few Hail Mary's for me, huh?

I have been more motivated the last week than I had been the previous 4 or 5 weeks and I'm hoping that I'm back on track. I only walked/ran 1 day so I need to get the exercise ramped back up.

My family is coming in from Chicago soon and both my sister and dad said they'll walk with me in the morning. I can't wait to be able to walk every morning for 2 weeks. That's my goal... we'll see how it goes. I'm really going to try and make sure that I don't go overboard on vacation. I'll be tempted by cheesesteaks and french fries but I'm confident that I'll maintain control.

I had 2 more people yesterday comment on my weight loss. One said that I was "withering away into nothing", and the other said "Look at you, Mr. Slim and Trim." Ok, I'm neither slim nor trim at this point, but I'm glad that people are noticing and that I'm making some progress again. I've gotta keep the momentum going!

I have been increasingly motivated by reading some of my fellow Sparkers blogs. Some of your success stories really make me wanna push on and work harder to get to my goals. I wanted to thank everyone for your support! I've also been watching The Biggest Loser this year and it's also been a real motivation. I watched a few people lose 30-40 pounds in only 2 weeks! Yes, that's a VERY drastic weight loss... they've lost in 2 weeks what it took me 6 months to lose! I can only imagine how hard they're working to create the caloric deficit needed to post those kinds of numbers. Makes my little 2-3 pounds seem trivial. It makes me want to push myself harder and farther to see what I'm capable of.

This weekend my brother and his family will be in town and we're going to meet them for dinner somewhere. I'm sure that I'll be a good boy and stay on the plan!

    Your doing a terrific job, keep up the good work. I know you will do well when your family is here. Your daughter is lucky to have such a wonderful dad, who cares so much for her that he is living a healthier lifestyle. Stay with it, just look at your beautiful daughters face, if you get tempted. emoticon

Great Weekend!!

Had a great weekend this week! Saturday I took Mikayla to the local Build-a-Bear at the mall b/c they were promoting some new Star Wars costumes and a special edition Star Wars bear. Part of that promotion was that they had some characters there from Star Wars.

All week my daughter was wondering who they were going to have there and if they were going to have Darth Vader. The kid LOVES Darth Vader. She's 5 but she's quite the fan. I told her I wasn't sure who they were going to have and we'd have to see who showed up.

When we got there the characters had just come out. Boba Fett and a stormtrooper were already in the front of the store and we immediately got her picture with them. We walked into the store and found the Star Wars bear and were getting ready to get in line to get him stuffed when I saw a black shape in the back peeking over the top of their display tables... could it be... I think it is... YES!!!! It's Darth Vader!!! Woo Hoo!! I pointed him out to Mikayla and I swear I thought she was gonna faint! She put her hands up on the side of her face and walked straight back to him and he posed for a pic and then gave her a high five.

We got the bear stuffed and then went out to the front of the store to see if we could get a pic with all the guys and they were nice enough to pose for us. On the way out of the mall, MIkayla said that this trip to the mall "Rocked!" She kept saying, "Daddy, that was so cool!" I was very excited for her! Who cares what the rest of the weekend held?? I made my daughter's wish of meeting Darth Vader come true! It's great to be a dad!!

    Great job Dan. I'm gonna try to do it too. However, if for some reason I fail to complete it...that just means that my perceived "adult onset ADHD" has once again gotten the better of me. Great for staying active... bad for completing 100 question quizzes.

Wk 23 Weigh In

Gained 2.2 pounds this week.... ugh! I know why... I've been at eating machine the last week. I haven't logged anything at all... no walking except for on Saturday.

I watched Biggest Loser last night hoping that it would motivate me to get back on plan and at the time I was all pumped up, got up this morning and instead of exercising, I watched tv. Great start jackass!

We'll have to see how the calories go today. Not only am I going to fail my goal of 200 by December 15th, but I'm also on track to not even be close to 210 before my family gets here near the end of October.

I suck! I've worked really hard to get where I am and I can't give up but I really just can't seem to get motivated. I think the evil fat realized that I was on track to kick the $hit out of it and had to mount some sort of defense so it's jacking up my willpower and so far it's winning. I've got to figure out some sort of way to get back on track like I was when I first started. I was a fat burning, a$$ kicking machine!!! Now I've taken several steps backwards and I've turned back into a lazy s.o.b!

    You will not fail! Today is a new day, readjust the goals and go forward. You are still that ass kicking fat burning machine, you just got lazy. Let it go, go forward to what you really want. And make yourself write down what you eat. The food tracker has kept me from fast food for the past 2 weeks. I just do not want to see the reality of those numbers.

    Well Life happens!. Something is ALWAYS going to get in the way. Its how we handle those speed bumps that determines if we win or lose this battle. Do not look at how far you have to go. Look at how far you have come. Look at and read some motivational blogs and sparkpages. I am right there with you. I lost 45 pounds and in the last month or so I have gained 8 to 10 of it back. That sucks. However I will not go back to that person. This is a daily struggle and I know its going to be that way for a very long time if not forever. Changing your life is not an easy thing. Persevere!

    First thing first......FORGIVE YOURSELF FOR YOUR SLIP UP. Realize that it is in the past and move forward. I had a similar week of blah.....I ate decent but n o exercise what so ever....till my birthday then I went back to eating badly too. As a result I gained a half of a pound....I almost cried....but that same day...I pull my pysche out of the wallowing fat cesspool and did my wii fit , attempted zumba and walked my 10000steps Plus more....and you know what ....I feel GREAT!! If I can do it so can you....now giddy on up and get back on that exercise and eating horse for yourself. I know you can do it!! emoticon

What I've accomplished...

Ok, so the last few weeks I've been pretty unhappy with my results. I'll admit, it's my own fault. I don't have anybody to blame but me. I didn't stick with my nutritional plans, I didn't exercise like I was and I was giving in to temptation and grazing when I was previously able to say no and walk away.

I had come pretty close to packing it in and giving up but thanks to the support from you guys I'm still gonna keep on going. I can't count how many people's pages/blogs I've left that on and here I am not listening to my own advice. Keep on going!! My SparkPage says, 'I will not fail!' and you know what?!?! I won't!

I was thinking today about some of the things that I've accomplished since I started my journey to health and I think it's important to be able to celebrate your accomplishments and not always focus on what still needs to be done so here goes:

1) I've lost 42 pounds in 22 weeks!
2) I've dropped about 3 pants sizes
3) I've walked 104 miles so far. Granted it's not a lot, but it's 104 more than I would have walked had I not been involved in this program.
4) I am working on my fear of doctors and as a result I'm finally being treated for my high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and thyroid issues.
5) I feel better about myself when I look in the mirror
6) I'm being a better role model for my daughter who means the absolute world to me
7) I'm able to wear my wedding ring
8) I've been able to take up about 4 notches in my belt since I started
9) I haven't had a soda in 22 weeks!!!
10) About 95% of my fluids in a day are good old fashioned water, I'll have some milk in my cereal, and maybe an unsweetened iced tea if we go out to eat, but other than that it's water, water, water.
11) I've eaten more vegetables in the last 22 weeks than I have in my entire life! Salads used to be like garlic to a vampire but now I love them. Baby spinach is the best!
12) I'm able to wear shirts and other things that I haven't been able to wear in several years. It's like I have expanded my wardrobe and it didn't cost me any extra money, just a little sweat!

I've still got about 67 pounds or so until I get to my goal, but I'm confident that I can do this. I've lost 42 pounds so far, what's another 67?!? Thanks again to all the wonderful SparkPeople that have supported me so far! Hope you all have a great weekend!!!
