Back online with new computer

On January 2, my computer finally bit the dust after four years of use. So today I took the plunge and got a new Windows 8 laptop. It's hard to get used to the Windows 8 Start screen but so far I'm very impressed with this computer. I'm glad to be able to visit SparkPeople again!

Year-end reflections

Well, I didn't achieve my weight goal, but I do weigh less than when I joined SparkPeople in February. I'm getting regular exercise. I think I need to start tracking all of my food again. I stopped doing that a few months ago. My cholesterol, triglycerides, other blood work, and blood pressure are all good, so I have much to be thankful for. I'm looking forward to a better 2013!

Oct. 28 Update

I haven't blogged in a long time due to a number of personal and family issues. And, if I lose power due to Frankenstorm, it may be a while before I'm back on SparkPeople.

I've been able to get a lot of exercise in the last two weeks - primarily yard work but it gets my heart pounding so I guess it counts. The scale is in a holding pattern, but that's better than gaining. Right now I'm watching a ton more leaves coming down so I will be able to get lots of post-storm exercise cleaning up the mess.

My seasonal second job runs from Halloween until just before Thanksgiving, so my SparkPeople time will be limited. I'll try to write down food and exercise in a journal, to be entered later. Auf Wiedersehen!

Finally losing weight again

As of today I've lost a little over 15 pounds since joining SP in February. My BMI is now 30.4. I'm hoping to get that under 30 within the next two weeks. It would be great to be overweight, not obese.

    You can do it. Just keep plugging away at it and the weight WILL drop. "Constant vigilance," as Professor Moody would say :)

Tendonitis improving

I cut back on exercise the last two weeks and no treadmill walking or stepping. Lots of ice and Aleve and calf stretching per doctor's orders. This week I'm feeling much better. Was able to mow half of the lawn on Sunday. Did the elliptical at the gym today. I will probably avoid the step and the treadmill for another week or so.

Last Friday my chiropractor casted me for orthotics but his office called me today to say that the impressions were damaged in the mail. Bummer! So we'll try again later this week.
