And We Begin Again

Friday, January 04, 2013

The holidays are hard for dieting! I gave up for a while, but I'm back on track! I asked for a juicer for my Birthday, and got it a month early, for Christmas. So excited! I've been dabbling with it so far, and eating only raw foods in between juices.

What started this juicing thing was a documentary called, "Fat, Sick, and nearly Dead." The guy in the video is about my age, and it worked for him, and he was WAY worse, helath-wise than I am, so I wanted to give it a try. I know a lot of people will say that it's not necessarily the healthiest way to go, but it is all raw foods, so I don't see nutrition as a problem, as long as I get a good array of fruits and vegetables.

I know that a lot of people have had weight problems all of their lives. I have not. I've only gotten fat since about the year 2002, or so. My weight problem is self created. It's not heredity or any other excuse I can make for myself.

With that in mind, I've decided to be the master of my own body, and do this juicing thing for the first two weeks. After that, I will add in certain other foods, one at a time, and see how it goes. The bottom line is that I'm 100 pounds over weight, and I can't stand myself anymore.

I'm also going to do videos on Youtube. I figure that will give me the accountability to stay on track. I did my first one a couple of days ago. What do you think of it?

Thought for Today: God created our bodies with magnificence and splendor. It's our responsibility and our honor to take care of it.

He (God) also created days in 24-hour intervals...so each day will be a new beginning. As long as you're getting up - you're moving.........

No Scales!

Thursday, October 11, 2012

I have decided to not be a slave to my scale. so I am only gonna weigh myself every two weeks. I was going to do it once a week, but I feel that it won't give me the accurate read on my progress.

What do you think?

Today's thought:

I take a bit of license with scriptures that have we or us in them. I personalize them and put I or me it there.

Today is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it!

I've gone back and forth on the whole slave-to-the-scale issue -- for me, I now try for twice a week.

Otherwise the day I weigh in, I usually end up cheating a little too much that day and the next because I've got a whole week until the next weigh in. hah. emoticon

Works for me though. Way better than vexing over the daily fluctuations. It's not worth it when you value the number on the scale over everything else. emoticon

Kudos!

Going, Going...

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

So I got on the scale today, and find I've lost more than I thought! I weighed 235.4 today. At first, I thought I broke the scale, but then I realized that my menses just ended, so I'm guessing that the extra weight is from water weight.

I have been exercising way more. That's not saying much... my previous exercise routine consisted of walking... from my room to the couch, from the couch to the fridge, and back to my room... No wonder I got fat! But now I am using my Gazelle twice a day, for at least 30 minutes at a time. Couple that with eating salads and lean meats, and I'm finally making progress!

We are all in covenant with God, and He's much more faithful to us than we are to Him. I am depending on Him partnering with me on this weight loss journey.

So today's God thought:

But I will establish My covenant with you, and you will enter the ark - you and your sons and your wife and your sons' wives with you. Genesis 6:18

Well done on the weight loss. God is my diet buddy too, I ask him to help me on my weight loss/fitness journey or at least I dedicate my efforts to Him, and it has worked for me so far. Maybe I just don't want to let The Lord down.

Just out of interest, what is a Gazelle?

Being Sick Sucks!!!

Monday, October 08, 2012

I was the last in my house to get the chest cold that was going around the Phoenix area, and I think I got everyone's virus! It started on Sunday, which wouldn't have been so bad, except I was guest preaching at my church, so I was coughing through my own sermon! The next day, I was just exhausted, and coughing... after a week I was convinced I had pneumonia. I was coughing so hard that my ribs hurt, and I couldn't sleep for more than an our or two at a time.

So on Friday, I got my son to bring my Gazelle, and I got on it. I still wasn't able to breathe well, so I was only on it for about 15 minutes. About an hour later, I got on for another 10.

I have gotten myself up to two hours a day, and I do intervals of fast, medium, and slow.

Bottom line: Even with being sick, hardly able to move, I still lost 6 1/2 pounds! Yahoo to me!

Whohoo - way to go on the weight loss. I love my Gazelle too....it's been awhile - you just motivated me to get on it today. If you can do it being sick - then I can do it too. Thanks!

Day 3

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

First of all, I promise I won't post a new blog entry every day. It's just that it's new, and the writer in me wants to come out and play right now.

I walked to my church and back all at once, with no breaks! I was so proud of myself! Then the rest of the day happened. First of all, I was starving all day! I have a 1200-1550 calorie set via SP, and I went over the 1200 for the first time! Add to that, I was exhausted all day too! I took an hour and a half nap, and still had no energy. I did manage to clean the kitchen, for the most part. Is this normal when you first start? I feel so counter-productive right now... Although I must say, my pants fit different... Maybe my imagination, or wishful thinking... Who knows.
