Haven't posted in a while... I should fix that :) Anyway, I had a great workout yesterday at the gym and worked several upper body muscle groups. I'm feeling it! I love feeling sore (not I-can't-move-sore, but I-had-a-great-workout-sore), because then I know I did something good for myself. I've been reading the pages of SP Motivators, and now that's given me the motivation to become a Motivator, lol! I think I'll have Russ take some "before" pictures of me and then follow up every month. You'll see, I'll get that bikini bod :)

I figured out what I need to do to get on track... go stay with my MIL for a couple weeks! Since I've been home I've worked out every day, gotten in my 64 oz of water, and have been eating well. I've even been getting up fairly early (for me anyway), which is another thing I've been wanting to get in the habit of doing. It probably helps that my uber skinny 19-year-old SIL is here motivating me, lol! We shall see if I can establish these habits well enough that they'll stick when I get back home :)

Ok, so I've found a big problem area for me: parties. Not only do I chow down on the leftover party food at our house when we host them, but if I go somewhere else, it's like all self-control is gone. We went to the Around the World party this Saturday, and wow, so much good food, you just had to try it all! Then there was the thing at Paige's house where there were two types of cake, cookies, "rabbit turds" (cocoa puffs with peanut butter), and some sort of white chocolate popcorn with m&m's, pigs-in-blankets, chips, and taco soup. Holy cow. Then I went and made Russ a cake for his birthday and had two pieces yesterday and a piece today! Ugh! It's like I think that if I don't eat it, I'll never get another chance to have that food ever again. Or, the faster I eat it, the faster the temptation will be gone, lol!!!
Ok, so now that I've identified that, I can work on being reasonable when I go to parties. Maybe I can try two unhealthy foods, and the rest has to be healthy. No mindless nibbling!
Anyway, I read this article about how they did a study where one group of women dieted, one ate as usual but exercised, and the third group did both (diet and exercise). It turned out that both the dieting groups lost the same amount of weight, the exercisers lost half the weight, but they all lost the weight from different areas! The dieters lost fat from their thighs (the fat closer to the surface), and the exercisers lost fat from their abdomen (visceral fat, the kind that is really unhealthy for you to have). I thought that was really neat! More motivation to exercise.

I fit comfortably in my khaki pants again! They're still not a perfect fit, but at least the seams aren't about to rip :)

Well I did pretty well last week. I wasn't as strict as I wanted to be, but I did do more cardio than normal, and watched my portions and made sure to get in my fruits and veggies. I've gotten pretty good at getting in my 8 cups of water a day! Yay! I'm actually "thirsty" more often now since my body is used to having all that water. I think my next goal is making sure I get 5 fruits/veggies a day. :)
My weight hasn't gone down, and my clothes don't seem looser, but I'm on my way by getting into these healthy habits :)
Now that I've mentioned last week, it's time to talk about last night. We had another party, and I caught myself mindlessly eating the guac and queso with chips while I was watching the end of the poker game. Now, the guac was good - healthy fats and such, but not TOO MUCH of it. Queso, not so healthy, lol. Anyway, I was able to stop myself before I went too overboard, but I know I still ate way too many calories. Hubby had the chips out this morning and I started eating those too, but moved away so I wouldn't eat them anymore. Little victories :) OH! And I only had ONE mini cookie after I made a whole batch of them! Go me!
