Along the way, it is easy to get discouraged, feel like you are not making progress and lose sight of your goals.
For many years, I have found encouragement in wonderful friends and family who have supported me in my many goals... finishing school, my career, marriage, etc. However, when it comes to my health and fitness, I realize that I must learn to encourage myself and make myself a priority.
To be honest, this is not easy for me. I am used to being the cheerleader for others and it feels intrinsically selfish to make me #1. But I am finally realizing that this is the best thing I can do for all of my relationships. The better I feel about myself, the more joy and love I can share with others. It took a long time for me to learn this lesson but I'm getting it and it feels GREAT!

This week, I decided to take my fitness to the next level and am doing Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred videos and the Biggest Loser game on Xbox (Challenge level). Oh my, what a challenge it has been but in such a good, good way.
I am lovin' the changes taking place in my body but the changes in my thought process and mental attitude are the most impressive transformations to me. I have become very intentional about what I consume and what I do on a daily basis. It is amazing all the things I have accomplished that I said I could never do or just didn't have time for. Excuses, excuses, excuses.
I have also joined a step aerobics class at my church and am loving the new friends that I am meeting and positive energy of the group. At the end of this week, I will be completing the first cycle of the Virgin Diet. I am rewarding myself with 3 personal training sessions with a reputable Pilates instructor in my area. I said that I could never handle Pilates because I had a C-section and it hurt my abs too much. I'm done with those excuses, am looking forward to obtaining some good 1:1 training, and am looking forward to taking it to the next level!!!

I am on day 4 of Cycle 1 of the Virgin Diet. Basically, I have eliminated gluten, diary, soy, eggs, corn, peanuts, and sugar from my diet. Eggs, corn and peanuts wasn't really a heavy lift because I don't really eat these items anyway. However, my focus is not really on the things that I have eliminated but on what I have gained.
Over the past few days on the Diet and recently joining SparkPeople, I am gaining a whole new perspective on food, fitness and health. I am becoming more thoughtful about what goes in my mouth. I am particularly thankful for all the great recommendations, recipe ideas, and encouragement from others in this Community.
I truly feel blessed with this new chapter in my life. I am starting to fall in love with exercise again and have energy that I have not felt in year. Simply blessed with a heart full of gratitude.
