Gave in to temptation

Thursday, December 05, 2013

Today has been a bad day. I was in one of my moods that I didn't know what I wanted to eat for the day so I spent a lot of time looking through cookbooks looking for something new. I finally found a new recipe and went to the store for ingredients. As I was making the recipe it didn't look like it was turning out. When it was done my husband came home from the doctor and was frustrated with news from the doctor and neither of us liked what I made. So he wanted to go to BK for whoppers and I caved in and told him to get me one since they are 2 for $5.00. It was easier than making something else and I still want to take a quick nap before the parent meeting tonight because I won't have time afterwards and I work tonight. Tomorrow will be a better day and I promise to get back on track.

Finally! Going in the right direction.

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

After many false starts since February with my weight continuing to go up and up my weight has finally gone down 5 pounds. I have found a friend at work to walk with every morning when we get off work and that has helped a lot. Now I'm getting back to tracking my food. Hopefully this is the motivation that I have need to stay on track.

New Month - No Excuses

Monday, June 03, 2013

I know I keep saying that I am trying to get back on track. I have one good day and then I get busy and overwhelmed and tell myself "forget it I'll start again tomorrow" or worse yet "I'll start again when things settle down". I've been feeling run down and too tired to cook or exercise so I've been eating more drive thru and even eating donuts and other sweets "to get more energy". My mom-in-law was in the hospital, my husband's car broke down so we had to go car shopping, spring is full of family birthdays and end of school events were among my many excuses.

THIS MONTH THERE WILL BE NO MORE EXCUSES! I can't believe I have let myself slip so far. In January I was half a pound away from 200, now I am 225. I am going to walk with a girl from work when we get off at 6:30 in the morning. I will have healthy meals and snacks prepared for when I am hungry. Yesterday I made some healthier muffins and snack bars. I have planned actual meals that I will make this week and have a shopping list to take to the store.

I know that it is time for a change and this is the month to do it! Please help me out with encouragement and maybe even checking up on me if you want. I'm sure that I can get back on track with help from my spark friends.

It is soooo hard to lose a few lbs but sooooo easy to gain!!! I feel better when I make good choices, just have to stay strong to make those choices!

    You can do it!!

Planning might seem tedious, but it is SO WORTH it.

It doesn't matter how many times you slip/fall back. It's that you get up and try again.

Keep going. :)

You can do this! I think everyone has slipped and recovered. Don't look at the past - just look forward to each new day.

Yes you can! Your wisest investment in life is YOU! If you don't take care of yourself, you will NOT be able to take care of your family. Sounds like you finally made a plan to meet your goals! Good for you! Don't feel bad about starting tomorrow what you should have done today! It's NEVER to late until it's too late! One day at a time.....You can do it!

A Brand New Start

Sunday, February 24, 2013

To all my Spark Friends - I'm sorry I've been gone for a while.

It all started when my computer started acting up before Christmas. I managed to continue working out and losing weight through the holidays. I was actually down to 200 pounds. After I got a new computer the flu hit hard in my family and at work. My #1 PROBLEM: I eat when I don't feel good. It started with ice cream for my sore throat and progressed to paczis and diet cola. I had the hardest time quitting once I started. I would track my food and fitness for a day or two, cheat, then quit just to start over again.

The other day I stepped on the scale and to my horror it said 215 pounds. THAT'S IT! I have just thrown away all the time and effort I have given for the last few months just to have a pig fest for one lousy month. IT ENDS NOW.

Starting today I am starting over from the beginning. New spark page, new easier to reach goals and a new attitude. I WILL track every bite I eat. I WILL exercise 6 days a week even if it is only 10 minutes. I WILL DO THIS - NO EXCUSES.

I think we all have been suffering a bit with all the wacky weather. and now the time change...it will all taper off and we are going to hit it hard.

I'm glad you are back, you are one of my most favorite sparkies.

Hang in there, but keep in there. emoticon

Love My Job But...

Saturday, October 20, 2012

sometimes it is sooo hard to go to work. Today (or night actually) is one of those days.

I am a nurse's aid working 3rd shift at a nursing home. I love my job most of the time because I get to help people. I really try to go in every night with a positive attitude and give everyone the care that I would want my own parents to recieve especially when they are having a rough night or are sickor lonely. I try to give my residents all the respect and dignity and patience that everyone deserves. There are nights that I may be on my feet all night except for breaks. My job also includes a lot of bending and lifting. I give my all when I am at work and usually come home sore and exhausted.

Today is one of the days that it is hard to go to work because I almost sure that I will be working 16 hours instead of my normal 8. Last night when I went to work they were already one person short for tomorrow morning 1st shift. My place "mandates" the person with lowest seniority from the previous shift to stay and cover the next shift if someone calls off. I already know that I will be the person that has to stay the extra shift tomorrow morning. There is a slim chance that someone will volunteer to come in.Some people say to call them to work extra shifts so they can make extra money but when it comes right down to it most people say they are too busy.

I am trying to get plenty of sleep today and planning to bring extra healthy food so that I will not be tempted by the vending machines when I am tired. The thing that I will miss the most is the diet cola that I have gien up 2 months ago. I do not drink coffee but I will bring unsweetened Iced tea with me but it just isn't the same as my diet cola.

Oh well, wish me luck. I need to get back to sleep.

sounds like me many years ago except we did not expect one to stay over . and i was a l.p.n. but making you stay over that seems unfair to those who worked all night and then to stay all day and come back for there on shift seems unfair to you and the residents it just not safe . hope you are wrong and can come home and sleep you need your rest. way to go on not drinking diet pop I can't seem to go longer than 2 to 3 days you are a special person to do the job you do emoticon emoticon

Several years ago my mother fell and broke her ankle is several places. She rehabilitated in a nursing facility. It was hard on her because years before, we had lost my dad, and at the time of this injury mom was just coming to terms with her independence. The staff at this facility were incredible. They nurtured her, encouraged her and saw to her needs because she could not. They were the most caring and loving people I have ever met.

In saying this, please know that I appreciate what you do!! There truly are angels among us and I count you as one of them.

Get some rest and I will be thinking of you!

I appreciate what you do. It's hard work to care for all those that can't fully care for themselves. I'm so glad you treat all the residents with respect and love. Sorry you are on the low seniority list. Hopefully you will move up soon and someone else can take a turn with the long shifts. Many hugs to you!
