I joined the 5K walk/jog challenge and this is week two of that challenge. I've been doing my WATP DVD's on a daily basis and have incorporated a light jog whenever it says to walk. Yesterday I went for a 2 mile walk around the neighborhood and decided that I was going to try to walk for two minutes and jog for one minute. I started with a warm up and then began my jog. Then I realized that I did not have a watch. lol So decided to walk for two blocks and jog for one block. After jogging the first block, I was so out of breath but I continued on in my journey. I knew that once I got back to my home, it would be one mile. So after my first mile I was tired and almost gave up but I decided to drink some water and do the second mile. As I walked the sun was setting. I took a look around my neighborhood and was enoying just beign outside and even the jogging didn't seem so tough the second time around. I did my two mile walk and jog and let me tell it you, it's tougher than the WATP DVD's. I'm going to be honest, I was a bit self-concious about doing it around my neighborhood. I did wonder what I looked like to others jogging at 262 pounds but as I passed my neighbors many of them greeted me and smiled. A few months ago, I could barely walk a block without getting tired. Now, I have walked a 5K and I am getting ready for my 2nd 5K. I can't believe that I was able to jog so many blocks yesterday. I'm still a big woman but I feel stronger and healthier and that makes me a happier person, wife and mother. I think I'll go for another walk around my neighborhood again today.
