Short Term, Mid Term and Christmas Goals

3 Kilos a Month Till Christmas

This is my new mid-term goal. Let's start with the short term goal to get down from 79.6 (today's weigh in) to 77. That is nearly 3 kilos for the month of October. If I follow through on the three kilos a month for three months, I would be at ultimate goal weight by Christmas. That would be very cool! Of course, to do that I need to move more and eat less. So I need to go back to following weekly goals and journaling on my progress. In addition to the weight loss goals, I want to continue with my decluttering projects and finish my painting by the end of the year. I need to also get some planning processes in place that I do regularly so that I can be more organized.

So here are my goals for next week (today until next Friday):

1. Fitness center twice and walking as much as possible. Shoot for 60,000 steps in the week.
2. Declutter my home office more, donate things, get rid of junk
3. Work on painting
4. File private papers
5. Work on clothes closet. Fall/Winter season is coming soon!

In general I need to review my paperwork system and make sure I have everything I need for my business for 2014 while I am doing the filling.

Happy Day!

There is a lot to be happy about today. First of all, I lost more than half a kilo over the weekend. I was pretty active and did dinner cancelling so I was happy when I saw the numbers on the scale this morning. I really want to focus on low carb and not so much on low fat. I read on the weekend that low carb is very good for both weight loss but also in disease prevention and I really believe that. So if I have a bit more fat, OK but better to stay away from the sugar and starchy carbs and eat more veggies and healthy fats. So this morning, instead of my regular two small slices of chicken breast on a Knšcke, I had a hard boiled egg. And you know what? I have felt fuller longer this morning and have not had the need for a snack before lunch.

I made another Apple Tart and this one was delicious. So good that it was no trouble to get rid of it here at work. I kind of like baking and then bringing the result to work. We certainly don't need it hanging around at home but that way, we can enjoy one piece or two and then get rid of it in a generous way.

Stress factor: On Friday, I have to talk to the cleaning lady about her work. She always seems to be done early but her work is really not very good. I hate having these talks but I am becoming more and more disappointed with her work every week. Last week, she didn't even clean the bathroom floor. I would say that this upcoming talk has raised my stress levels substantially. It shouldn't be that way but it is.

Last week I did well on most of my goals. Only slip up was skipping the fitness center on Friday but that was so relaxing. This week, I will go on both days and also (hopefully) go bowling on Saturday night!

Goals for this week :

1.† Fitness Center twice - I traded my visit yesterday for a 5 Km walk in the forest with my dog. I feel like that still counts.
2.† Declutter bathroom completely and reorganize - DONE!
3.† Work on clothes closet (switch to fall/winter clothing) - >Will start tonight

Today,† I'm grateful for having lost half a kilo over the weekend. It gives me more motivation to stick with the program during the week.

Stress Journal - A Wonderful Change in Plans

I just joined the Stress Reduction Team here at SparkPeople and this will be my first stress journal post. Today, my cleaning lady called me at 7:30 this morning because she was sick so she will come tomorrow morning at 9:00. That little change in plans absolutely made my morning because I wasn't really in the mood for her today anyway and it gives me a few hours to just relax, work and then go to get my hair done at noon.

Today will be a very low stress day and I am already relishing in that fact. How can I make most days feel this way? I will focus on that question this week and try to develop some strategies for getting rid of stress in my day to day activities.

My NSV is Pride in Accomplishments

Iím proud because I did everything on my To Do list last week and I did it as planned. I am slowly starting to declutter things and that is a really good thing. Of course, what Iím not so proud of is how much money I have wasted in the past on stuff I didnít need, and I have done it time and time again. You really only notice something like that when you start ordering things in your home (and in your life). When I get this house to a certain level of order, I swear I will not let this happen again.

Here are my goals for this week:

1. Strength training at the fitness center twice
2. Declutter 2 drawers/cabinets in the kitchen, more in my office
3. Log every single bite or drink in my food journal

Today, I'm grateful for friends and neighbors. Since I don't have many living relatives, they are my little extended family!

    Amen Platinum! Decluttering, or getting to a Zen state of mind and household -- as I like to call it -- can be strenuous buit it has so many rewards! I just cleaned out and reorganized one of the drawers in my kitchen which holds the knives, bottle openers, corkscrew and all the other miscellaneous stuff you only need once in a while. There was so much junk in there I hadn't used in the 6 years since we built our house. I threw it all away. *proud*

    I made declutter part of my healthy lifestyle journey as well and oh my goodness emoticon, it can be so mentally and physically exhausting yet so rewarding; as soon as you can see any progress, what a sense of accomplishment comes over you (at least it did for me :))

    Evie, thanks for sharing. I can totally relate to baby steps, which is why I am setting very small goals like declutter two drawers in one week. But, once you get started, you want to do more and more. Still, I'm going to take it a few small steps at a time so I don't get in over my head and can enjoy little success stories every week!

I'm using these small decluttering projects to also help me with my weight loss efforts. I noticed that I seemed to slightly binge eat after coming home from work but waiting for my husband to get home for dinner. I would nibble and nibble and by the time he got home for dinner, I had already eaten my dinner calories but still had dinner with him.

Now, I work on decluttering something until he's home. It's the proverbial killing two birds with one stone. I'm eating less and cleaning more!

Great Day, I'm totally jazzed!

Great day so far. I got myself to the gym but was a little later than usual and it was totally empty. I think I like going at that time on on home office days. By the time Iím done with my workout, I can come home and have lunch right away. Iím usually starved after the workout anyway. Fridays I have to go earlier of course because of Zumba. Anyway, I did strength training today and had a good workout. I added two new machines to my workout, one for the legs and one for the stomach. Both of them are very strenuous.

Yesterday, I walked with my neighbor Sylvia and my dog after work. We had a great walk but Sylvia gets bored with the route easily. She said sheíd like to ride bikes tomorrow. I actually would love to do that too but it means that Barkley (my dog) canít come along. That part is a little sad.

Last night I was very good with the drinking and eating. Iím losing weight very slowly but I am losing and I am becoming more and more disciplined. Iím proud of that.

Weekly goals for this week were:

Clean out the messy long cabinet in my office ó 50% done!
At least one dinner cancelling on a weekday
Twice to fitness center ó One down, one to go!

Today I am grateful for :

Home office
My gym. I really like it.

My NSV today is: a great strength training workout with two new exercises added!!

    My dog is pretty small but the one time we took her in the basket, she jumped out. Luckily, we were in a park but if we had been on the street, she might have gotten really hurt. Ever since, I've been afraid to take her. But maybe it's more my problem than hers?
