Fooled you didn't I?
I do know how to spell but wanted to see if you could. emoticon
No weigh in today. I called in to be excused from TOPS as I was not feeling too good. Nothing you want to hear about on here though. emoticon
This morning I could not get my Internet Explorer to work. No way! It was shut down. So used my laptop some. I don't know how many e-mails I have in my in box but will you forgive me for not showing my face much today?
Decided to blog instead and did do my spark points. Did my status update, huddled and my log in points.
This morning I did go to the gym for 1/2 hour only because I wasn't up to any more, ate out, went to the pharmacy and then home for a nap.
Hope to feel better tomorrow and hope my pc works. That will make things better. I do get my hair done tomorrow though as my beautician will be out of town Saturday.
Take care.

Hi Irene, reading down the posts here, I see you got your computer going okay again.
So I just hope you are feeling much better today. Don't worry about catching up with email, everyone understands. My computer slowed down something fierce this week but seems to be okay again. Sometimes it is just on the Sparks site.

Get your hair done today and be well my friend. Give your body a bit of a rest.

Long ago I promised you a blog about the violence in Mexico. I was hoping it would die down so I would have good news to report.
It is so sad but there are killings every day.
Streets are closed in places.
Highways are closed in places and some people have had to fly instead of take a bus or drive.
They are no respecter of persons.
Juarez seems to be the worst.
Then down by where I live and where the church is built and 50 miles down the road where I used to live when I first came to Mexico is very bad also.
It is drug wars, policeman are shot along with the bad guys.
Drugs are being confiscated more and more on the US side of the border.
Things are not good.
May God bless America. North America includes Canada, the US and Mexico, then we have Central America and South America.
Pray for all.
Our country needs prayer as never before.
God bless you.
Irene emoticon

The families, homes, communities, countries & the whole world are not living by your way. Can they not learn, that this will only constantly cause heartache for so many. Open our eyes & hearts that we may do what is right & this violence ends. Please Lord, hear all of these prayers. emoticon

They say that the main reason there is so much violence there is because so many people here in the states spend so much money for drugs that the big drug supplier groups in Mexico are in a battle to see who gets to make the big profits!
I'm not sure there enough prayers in the world to stop the greed driven violence.... I so hope I'm wrong!

I hope this is a good pic. It is taken on Children's day in Mexico at the church God sent me the funds to build)
So I did it again. Last night I went out and got another Avalanche and although I ordered the small one it was huge with good soft vanilla ice cream and chopped Reese's Peanut Butter cups in it.
Someone told me "Just think the calcium is so good for your bones and there is good protein in the peanut butter" Then I thought and yes, chocolate is good for me. WOW.
But no one could tell me what the sugar was good for and I just read a Spark article about sugar and how much I should have. No wonder I felt sickish when I finished.
I looked at that thing and told myself "This is what made you fat in the first place".
One of my teams have a challenge for 21 days. You choose your own challenge and I said I WILL NOT GO OUT AND GET AN AVALANCHE and I will lose 2 pounds. I hope I can do the last as I am on my last pounds and it is difficult to do but I am going to do my best. Tonight I had liver, green beans and salad with no dressing and couldn't finish it.
As I had said on my Status this afternoon I had to weigh in and I did not gain nor did I lose. I am happy with that but next week will be another story.

Member Comments About This Blog Post:

Ohhh. That Avalanche sounded SO good! I absolutely LOVE chocolate and peanut butter together. In fact, during my last pregnancy I craved orange pop and Reese's peanut butter cups. No wonder I was so exhausted all the time with all that sugar! I don't miss the sugar roller coasters though and I REALLY don't miss that extra 100 pounds! You CAN do your challenge. Those two pounds will be just a memory three weeks from now. God BLESS you Irene.

You didn't gain so that's the great thing here dear friend. I'm like you, only with chocolate ~ I cannot stop at one bite, I have to eat and eat and eat it. All the sugar & fat in it makes me feel sick too!

Why do we do it???

Irene, what I think is good is that you don't have ice cream in your house. I would not be able to stop from eating at least a large bowl every day if I had it in my house. I must admit, I would love to try an Avalanche. But I can see where it could get addicting. And it seems like it's at night when you want it. If you get an ice cream attack in the evening, get a simple soft serve cone or something a little less caloric. I am a milkman's daughter and was RAISED on Ice Cream. Living in Africa though, it is hard to get.

From despair to victory

Last week I had a real tough week. I will not tell all of it on here but I was hurt and accused and, and and......
Well, Sunday came and I wondered how things would go in my Sunday School class but it went really well.
Worship service was great at our church as always and our pastor preached another great service.
Now I arrive at emoticon before the bulletins are ready so don't get one sometimes as I sometimes leave late and they are gone.
This Sunday one of our elders handed me a bulletin. Each week they have a volunteer in the spotlight and this week it was me. I was surprised as a lot of people do more than I but some of them have already been "IT".
It could not have come out at a better time. It made my day.
Then I was also given a picture of my spiritual grandson. Remember I asked pray for Samuel "The Miracle Baby"?
Well He is a darling. He really is.
He had to go back to the hospital last week as he had jaundice. He was in there only two days and the doctors said that is unusual as sometimes they can be there for a month or longer.
So I had a wonderful Sunday.
Just got home from the gym where I did an hour of work out. Needed to do that as I missed so many days this month because of diverse problems.
God bless all of you.
I love my Spark friends and you are a great encouragement to me. Someone told me I should talk when I have a tough week. I guess I am so used to helping and praying for others I just don't ask for myself.

This morning I fell in the shower and couldn't get up. It was slick I think from something the housecleaners use on the floor as this has almost happened before when they have been here. PTL nothing broke except my pride. Here I am just like God made me only bigger but I did have towels close by I could reach so the front was covered. I had to call 911. I have the phone by me when I take a shower. The fire trucks, medcare, police everyone came and they had to break my door to get in but another PTL someone came today, Saturday, to fix the door. It will cost $180.00 but they are repairing some other damage also and another PTL a check came in from somone who just sends once or twice a year (usually just at Christmas) which more than covered it. I had the money before they even got back with the parts to fix it.
This morning I had an appointment at 10:30 to get my hair done and of course couldn't go as I could not leave the house open. I called her and she said she did have an opening at 3:00, the guys say they will be finished before that so I may still get my hair done.
I had a party this afternoon I didn't really want to go to so called my friend and told her I would not be going.
So hope I am not real sore in the morning when I get up to go to church. Hope I don't have black and blue marks where they show. Maybe I won't even have any. Things are going well.
God is good and is a miracle working God.
So believe God for miracles in your life. There is nothing He cannot do.

You need to tell them they can't wax or polish the floor and tub to be slippery. Some times we just have to use different cleaners so accidents don't happen. When we first got wood floors we would use something that made them shine, BUT, if in socks you skiied on the floors. Very very scary, always thinking Opps, might fall, we can't afford those falls.

Irene, I am so happy you weren't hurt, no broken bones! You are such a sweet lady! I do believe He watches over you all the time.

I read your comments and glad to hear you got your hair done and wow, you have some wonderful friends!

Let us know tomorrow how you're doing. With the bath mat and shower shoes, you will be safer having a shower now!

Bless you my friend, have a good night's sleep.

Love and hugs, Gloria x x

I am praising the Lord with you right now as I read your blog...I am so thankful you were not seriously hurt. What an awesome Provider we serve that he gave you the funds you needed right on time to repair the door.

Lord thank you for protecting Miss Irene and taking such good care of us and providing everything we need.

Even when we fall in life it is nice to see God's hands all around protecting us so we can learn and move forward. Sounds like you were taken care of and are learning the needed lessons to move forward in a safe healthy way. Take care, when I have sore muscles a little ibuprofen works wonders.

Thank you everyone. I just got home from getting my hair done and eating for the first time today.
I do have a shower bench but when you stand and fall the bench doesn't help there. I love it though.
Nellie and then Betty mentioned shower shoes and I ordered a pair and some friends who have adopted me came over and he went out and bought a mat. They stayed until the door men left and they left right at the time I had to leave to go to the beauty shop so I am going to take a nap soon now.

I am PTL that you did not get hurt when you fell Irene. What a smart lady keeping the phone handy when in the shower! You really need either a pair of water shoes, a shower bench or a good mat to keep you from slipping again.
Thank you for sharing your miracle day with us. I pray everything will work out and you will not be too bruised or sore tomorrow and the following days. Please take care.

Hugs, Betty emoticon

I am fortunate that since I have Medicaid, the state pays for a choreworker to come and do housework, errands with me, and supervise and help with my bath. Since it also paid for a shower chair, I am now pretty safe while I bathe!

Years ago, I once fainted in the shower. Boy was I sore after that -- especially since the bathroom door opened inward and my head was banged when I was being rescued! I have not taken really hot showers ever since that!

I do think God was definitely helping you!!!

I'm so glad that you didn't hurt yourself when you fell. Injured pride can be repaired, but broken bones aren't as easy to fix. Good thing that you're smart enough to always have your phone handy when you're in the shower. I think I'll start doing that myself as my MS causes me to get a little bit dizzy when I close my eyes in the shower. (I wasn't smart enough to think of keeping the phone close when I'm in the shower on my own....)

I know that feeling of not being able to get up from a slippery place. About 1-1/2 years ago (at Christmas when I was going to buy lutefisk) I fell in the street on the ice that was so slippery I couldn't get up. I was right in front of a car and the traffic light was going to change and I don't think the drivers saw me. I had to crawl to the sidewalk and I still couldn't get up. One lady driving by the other direction saw me and stopped her car and helped me get up.

I felt I had two miracles that day. One was that I didn't get run over and the other was that I didn't break any bones, though my back was sore but that wasn't injured aside from some spasms that went away pretty quickly. It also was fortunate that I was wearing heavy duty arch supports that strapped on around my ankles and when I fell the ankles didn't move a bit; I think if I wasn't lucky enough to have arch pain and wearing those special braces I probably would have broken my ankle or ankles. It is amazing how all of these things came into place at the right time to keep me safe.

We absolutely have to thank God for every miracle. Miracles sometimes are little things and they happen every day.

As an additional safety precaution, you might look at water shoes so you don't slip so easily on the shower floor. I bought a pair for $14 or so on Swimoutlet.com and they give me sure footing in the swimming pool and whirlpool (two other dangerous places where people have bad injuries if they fall). Hope you don't have a lot of pain after you settle down after this bad exeperience that could have been so much worse.

Thank the LORD you didn't hurt your back, that you had a phone handy, that there were towels there and that you received money. Our LORD is a great and wonderful LORD, and he loves and cares for us!
