MY MIRACULOUS FALL IN THE SHOWER

Saturday, April 17, 2010

This morning I fell in the shower and couldn't get up. It was slick I think from something the housecleaners use on the floor as this has almost happened before when they have been here. PTL nothing broke except my pride. Here I am just like God made me only bigger but I did have towels close by I could reach so the front was covered. I had to call 911. I have the phone by me when I take a shower. The fire trucks, medcare, police everyone came and they had to break my door to get in but another PTL someone came today, Saturday, to fix the door. It will cost $180.00 but they are repairing some other damage also and another PTL a check came in from somone who just sends once or twice a year (usually just at Christmas) which more than covered it. I had the money before they even got back with the parts to fix it.
This morning I had an appointment at 10:30 to get my hair done and of course couldn't go as I could not leave the house open. I called her and she said she did have an opening at 3:00, the guys say they will be finished before that so I may still get my hair done.
I had a party this afternoon I didn't really want to go to so called my friend and told her I would not be going.
So hope I am not real sore in the morning when I get up to go to church. Hope I don't have black and blue marks where they show. Maybe I won't even have any. Things are going well.
God is good and is a miracle working God.
So believe God for miracles in your life. There is nothing He cannot do.
Irene or should I say Venus? emoticon

I used to live by myself and worried about things like that happening to me.
I am so thankful you are well enough to go to church. I pray that you're not sore and that nothing seriously hurt you.
God is truly a miracle working God and He was gracious enough to see that you had all you needed in this accident, from the phone by the shower to the check that came for repairs to the door. He knows the number of the hairs on our head and cares about every thing that happens to us. I can't begin to fathom how much He loves us!
I will keep you in my prayers for comfort and a pain-free recovery.

OMG I know it is not funny but I had a good laugh. You must have been so embarrassed. You call 911 and everyone comes running which is good but when you have no cloths on you really don't feel you need so many people.

I hope you are OK this morning and not black & blue. You are very smart to have a phone need by. Take care of yourself. Hugs BarbaraMe

    Irene,
Falling is always a concern at our age.
I have subscribed to an emergency service and where a pendant around my neck that I can press a button and will immediately be connected with help. I have also told them where a key can be found so they don't have to break the door in.
Maybe you could look into this?? The monthly fee is well worth the feeling of security.
God bless you and keep you safe.

IRENE, Thank God you didn't break anything ((((HUGS))))
You need to tell them they can't wax or polish the floor and tub to be slippery. Some times we just have to use different cleaners so accidents don't happen. When we first got wood floors we would use something that made them shine, BUT, if in socks you skiied on the floors. Very very scary, always thinking Opps, might fall, we can't afford those falls.

I am fortunate that since I have Medicaid, the state pays for a choreworker to come and do housework, errands with me, and supervise and help with my bath. Since it also paid for a shower chair, I am now pretty safe while I bathe!

Years ago, I once fainted in the shower. Boy was I sore after that -- especially since the bathroom door opened inward and my head was banged when I was being rescued! I have not taken really hot showers ever since that!

I do think God was definitely helping you!!!

I'm so glad that you didn't hurt yourself when you fell. Injured pride can be repaired, but broken bones aren't as easy to fix. Good thing that you're smart enough to always have your phone handy when you're in the shower. I think I'll start doing that myself as my MS causes me to get a little bit dizzy when I close my eyes in the shower. (I wasn't smart enough to think of keeping the phone close when I'm in the shower on my own....)

I know that feeling of not being able to get up from a slippery place. About 1-1/2 years ago (at Christmas when I was going to buy lutefisk) I fell in the street on the ice that was so slippery I couldn't get up. I was right in front of a car and the traffic light was going to change and I don't think the drivers saw me. I had to crawl to the sidewalk and I still couldn't get up. One lady driving by the other direction saw me and stopped her car and helped me get up.

I felt I had two miracles that day. One was that I didn't get run over and the other was that I didn't break any bones, though my back was sore but that wasn't injured aside from some spasms that went away pretty quickly. It also was fortunate that I was wearing heavy duty arch supports that strapped on around my ankles and when I fell the ankles didn't move a bit; I think if I wasn't lucky enough to have arch pain and wearing those special braces I probably would have broken my ankle or ankles. It is amazing how all of these things came into place at the right time to keep me safe.

We absolutely have to thank God for every miracle. Miracles sometimes are little things and they happen every day.

As an additional safety precaution, you might look at water shoes so you don't slip so easily on the shower floor. I bought a pair for $14 or so on Swimoutlet.com and they give me sure footing in the swimming pool and whirlpool (two other dangerous places where people have bad injuries if they fall). Hope you don't have a lot of pain after you settle down after this bad exeperience that could have been so much worse.

THE MIRACLE OF BABY SAMUEL

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Ok here it is. I promised you I would write a blog when Baby Samuel got home. Mom was dismissed at 12:00 noon and baby the same day at 6:00.
This is a miracle baby. First of all she came to me and asked for prayer saying they wanted a baby and hadn't been able to have one. I prayed for her and I know others did also. The next I hear she is pregnant.
Well, the doctor's checked the baby in the mothers womb and said it had a heart defect and it was possible it would have to be flown to Corpus Christi to a childrens hospital for emergency surgery.
The baby was born and they didn't find any defect. They kept Samuel in nicu under observation. He was 18 inches long and over 7 pounds in weight. His mother is a tiny little thing. The baby is beautiful.
The doctor's showed and gave them copies of the x-rays before and after the birth and they are amazed that there is nothing at all wrong with his heart.
We know who did the miracle "GOD". He is a miracle working God.
The baby was born earlier than what they thought. She worked the day she went to the hospital. I asked her one day if she was going to work up to the last day of her pregnancy and she said I feel fine and probably will. LOL
So this is the blog I promised.
Thank all of you who prayed for Samuel. Samuel in the Bible was given to a barren woman who begged him and waited and waited. She promised him to God and he belonged to God and God used him mightily.
That is a good name for this emoticon emoticon

Wonderful miracle baby. My children are God's miracles also. I have 6 children -- but I had 16 pregnancies. At one point when I had only had miscarriages, I was wondering if I would ever have a baby. I had been praying and praying. Then I had a near death experience and was given the assignment to raise my CHILDREN for Him!!! Then I had two more near-death experiences repeating the same assignment, one during my first child's prenancy and one right after he was born. Wow!

God is so good!!!

MY NEWEST SPIRITUAL GRANDCHILD, PLEASE PRAY

Saturday, April 10, 2010

At midnight I was sleeping soundly like a good girl and as many of you had told me to do when I hear this terrible noise in the house. I couldn't figure out what it was. Then it emoticoned. All of a sudden I realized it was my phone and jumped up. My spiritual grandchild.
Sure enough the grandfather called to let me know they had just taken the mother to the hospital. They thought the baby would be born May the 1st but had miscalculated.
I stayed up awhile on Spark then went back to bed.
At 8:00 a.m. the phone rang again. The baby had just been born.
THE BABY IS IN ICCU AS THEY ARE MONITORING ITS HEART AS THERE MIGHT BE A DEFECT.
PLEASE emoticon
This child is a miracle child. The mother asked me to pray for her one day as she wanted to have a child and couldn't. The next thing I knew she was pregnant.
They named the child Samuel as they had asked him from God and dedicated him to God even before he was born.
I don't know why I ate so bad for me today, maybe all the excitement. I did have my veggies and fruit but also had two fried drumsticks. Not good.
It will be difficult to get the weight off eating like that.
Thank you all.
Irene

SHORT TRIP THIS MORNING

Wednesday, April 07, 2010

This is me and the pastors where I am building. The building looks a lot better than this now as the parsonage is almost done. We have a few more things to do which will take a few hundred dollars more but it is going to be nice for that part of Mexico.
This morning I met the pastor's wives sisters on this side of the bridge separating Mexico and the US.
I didn't realize they have papers to come over but they do so it worked out just fine.
There is continued violence there, one day it said eight more gunned down and the day before had a long list of killings. The girls said it is more calm right now but at night is when it is worse.
I am glad I did get the money for the building to them.
Thank you all for your prayers and for your comments on my blogs about Mexico and my work there.

We praise the Lord your trip went well, Irene. Are the church Folk building or do you have a contractor? Our Son oversees some projects and works with the Africans, but sometimes the village folks lack in enthusiasm. I think we try to get them to put 10% into the finances and that doesn't always go well either. But they really are poor..we understand that. emoticon

ANOTHER UPDATE ON MEXICO

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

I was absolutely shocked when I read the paper today. In Reynosa right across from me and where I have the church and parsonage they had shut off some of the streets and advised people to stay off of them.
In Matamoros two jailers were arrested for helping people escape from the prison. This is only about 70 or 80 miles from me.
In Zapata two helicopters were sighted from Mexico at different times.
Down in Mexico City which is far from me they are having uprisings.
A border patrol man was stoned as he tried to stop drug trafficers and of course he was on the US side of the border.
And all of this in one days paper.
We need to pray for Mexico and the US as well as many parts of the world.
I don't know when I will be able to get back into Mexico.
Irene

Irene, I come and go as I please and have no real inkling of what it must be like for those who are afraid to go out and must live behind closed doors.
One more think to talk to God about; prayers for a resolution of that conflict, safe living conditions for the people, and a reminder to me to thank God for His blessings of a safe place to live. How often do I think of that? I'm afraid I have taken it for granted.

According to the President of Mexico Felipe Calderón, on the Farid Zakaria show this week on CNN, THOUSANDS of gun shops just on our side of the border are selling massive amounts of guns, including assault weapons. The gun lobby in our country is supporting this carnage.

I am praying for your safety. You DO have somewhere else to go if you must. God makes a way. Peace to you, sister.

I don't believe the door has closed. I believe it is a temporary lay over while God shows His perfect timing. I am still hoping to teach in Miguel Aleman Mexico come August. We will see what the missionary who plans the school feels by then. emoticon

I was just talking to a friend today about traveling to Mexico. She plans on traveling to Cancun, but she at least decided on a direct flight instead of a layover in Mexico City. I pray that this Holy Week will allow you spend some quality time with God. While you are away from Mexico, I know you feel closer than ever to the people you have ministered to for so many years. They always say when one door closes another opens. I am praying that God opens a new door of opportunity for your ministry.

Oh, Irene, I know this must feel horrific. I know that you fear for folks you love, and that they are in a place of real danger. And yet we know that in Christ "all will be well, and all will be well, and all manner of things will be well." So we pray for their safety, and for yours, and for a place you love, and we know that God will bring good from this evil, even as wish pray this cup might pass.

I don't have any place to move to and I think I am safe here. I did go to the bridge yesterday to see where I was going to meet the pastor's wifes sister as she will come over for the money I need to send for the parsonage.

We surely are praying Irene. Are you safe where you are? Or should you move north for a little while? Please stay safe, my Friend.
