Well, I am packed and ready to go. I will be where they have my favorite food. SEA FOOD. I do love it grilled though instead of all the breading i used to eat.
Since I don't exercise on Saturday or Sunday I won't miss out on that and may even get some walking in.
I hope to be able to log in Sunday as not to break my streak but won't be on the computer much. I wish you all a good week end.
Monday I should be back to my same o same o.
Just hope I don't gain any of those pounds back I lost. I know it is me and only me that puts the food in my mouth. No one force feeds me.

You will find I did not write this but copied and pasted it. I know all you ladies will get a laugh and the men also. PLEASE, PLEASE read to the end if you send it on or not.

In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday. Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older. And, there on television, she said it was 'exciting...'

Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day......like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first.

The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!

Maya Angelou said this:
'I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.'

    During WWII when we had buttons instead of elastic, the button on my mother's panties gave out. There she was with me in the middle of the main corner in town Her panties slid off and she kept right on walking straight and tall. The only reaction on her part was to squeeze my hand so hard that I could only think about the pain and not why she left her panties in the street.

I can still feel that squeeze. emoticon

On February 12 of 2007 I joined TOPS (Take off pounds sensibly) weighing 204and on November the 15th of 2007 I arrived to my KOPS status weighing 152. My lowest weight was 148.
Becoming the queen of our chapter and with a lot of trophies, ribbons, etc I said I will never put the weight back on again. Famous last words.
We had a couple of wonderful leaders then all of a sudden we had no leader at all. People began fighting among themselves. It was not the same. I was the weight recorder. Winter Texans would come in which were visitors and not members of our chapter and began shouting at me and my assistant telling us they didn't do it that way at their chapter. Can you imagine going to someone elses house and doing that. Hey I don't do it that way at my house. Then summer came and we had few members and they couldn't even agree on anything. They decided to have only one meeting a month. I told them that wouldn't work for me but I was outnumbered. Now with no leader, one meeting a month and much of the work falling on me and my assistant as the others were sick or had sick relatives the stress started to build up.
I kept telling them I was resigning and leaving TOPS. They kept talking me into staying. The stress was terrible. Finally they said wait until the winter Texans get back so I waited. When they got back I weighed the people in then said I'm leaving. They said oh wait. I said no I keep waiting and waiting and have told you for months I'm leaving and I walked out.
I had already exceeded my goal weight and put on a few more pounds. I kept thinking I would go to a town 20 miles away to see how their chapter was as I heard they had several upbeat members but it is always difficult to follow through that first month.
In the Meantime I continued to work with Spark, began to exercise, drank my water, ate my veggies and fruit but still did not lose and gained a couple more pounds.
On Spark I have met such wonderful nice supportive people and feel I will never want to leave Spark. You Rock Spark Guy and all who work with you as well as all of my friends. You are doing a great work helping us to take care of this Temple of the Lord so we can live longer more productive lives. In fact I have been asked to teach in a Bible School again. I have known this pastor since he was a young lad. I wrote a blog about the weird phone call explaining more about this.
Each month a group of Christian women meet and the leader I found out is an officer in the Donna TOPS CAN YOU IMAGINE???? I just love her. She is upbeat and so cool. Her grand daughter and I have become great friends and she has asked me to pray for her several times.
So tonight things are going to change. I am going to Donna TOPS and start over. Don't have as much to lose this time but know I need to lose it before I balloon again. You know how people are though. They keep telling me I look so good and am just at the right weight. I know I need to lose those few pounds to feel better.

I think many of us identify with the continual struggle with those old habits of eating ... that may always be the case. But our God is bigger than our struggle! Praise Him for each victory!

No one ever told us it would be easy, only that we could do it!

    I am so glad you finally got out of that TOXIC TOPS group and found another another where you feel comfortable.

Just remember to say "NO", if they want you to help with running the club; what they usually mean is= do all the work for me/us.

After all, at some point we can play the "old lady" card and say, " I've paid my dues and it is someone else's turn"! emoticon emoticon emoticon

During the first week of July, 2001 I walked into the basement of a church looking for theTOPS club that I had found on the internet. It was a Thursday morning. There was a lady in the hallway who asked if she could help me. I told her that I was looking for the TOPS club. She told me that I had indeed found the TOPS club! She introduced me around and explained a bit about what was going on. She told me that this was a "free" day and that I didn't have to weigh in until I decided to join. I told her that I had come to TOPS to join!

I attended that TOPS club during 2001-02 for 12 months, 2004 for 6 months, 2007 for six months and 2009 for another 6 months. Because it is a morning TOPS and has been around for MANY years, it has mostly retired folks in it. At age 60, I am one of the youngest. I love TOPS! Each time I return from Africa I rejoin TOPS again, the same club. These people ( I can't say ladies because we have one man in the club) are very special to me. They come from many different backgrounds. I have been their speaker quite a number of times. Each time I return to Africa they take up a collection for me to use here at the Hospital. Thursday morning is one of the highlights of my week!

Now you say, does going to TOPS help me from gaining weight in the States. No, I'm afraid it doesn't. BUT I don't even want to imagine how much I would gain by NOT going to TOPS during my six months home. I need that accountability.

My girl friend and I ate out at Furr's recently and the service was not good. I needed water but although I asked for it I did not get any. I noticed our waitress was covering a huge area and she was running as fast as she could. She was very frustrated. Finally my girl friend went to get the water.
Well, I thought I always leave a tip but this time I won't and I will even write a note letting them know what bad service we got. Actually it was the restaurants fault.
THEN I FELT I NEEDED TO TALK TO THE WAITRESS. I do this often and have never had anyone offended. She was taking a break and eating her lunch as they had put several waitresses on the floor. I went over and talked to her. I said I didn't mean to be mean about the water but I really needed it. Then her story came out. She is the single parent of a 14 year old girl. The girl has cancer, has had chemo and her immune system was low. She got an infection and was in the hospital. The waitress had been with her until 10:00 a.m. and had to be at work at 11:00 a.m. She was very tired, hungry, and frustrated. My heart went out to her and I hugged her. I asked if she believed in prayer. Yes she said, that is what I have been doing all night. Do you mind if I pray for you I asked. No, not all she answered. Do you mind if I pray for you right here? No, please do. So I prayed. I prayed for her daughter and I prayed for her. I prayed for her finances as I knew if she didn't need to work she would be with her daughter. God led me as I prayed for her.
I left her with my telephone numbers and hope with a little hope in her heart.
Of course my girl friend and I tipped her well.
So you see you never know what someone is going through.
Let's keep our hearts open, be kind in all circumstances and we will find our own frustrations diminishing. We smile at someone, they usually smile back. We are happy, we usually eat less, We eat less we usually see our weight go down so let's love our neighbor as ourselves and think about it you have to love yourself first or you can't love your neighbor as yourself.

Your prayer touched her heart and God's heart as well. He is love and we are to imitate Him in all aspects of our life. Tonight an angel visited this home. As I cooked supper I received a phone call but there was a lot of noise on the phone. I could not understand them and they could not understand me. It seemed they were saying "Irene, Irene". Nothing came through. I thought it was my pastor's wife since she calls me when she is feeling sick and weak and sometimes I can not understand her.
Upon finishing eating I checked my phone and sure enough it was our area code but it was not my pastor's wife. I called and a pastor I have known since he was a kid answered the phone. I asked if he called. He said no and said maybe I wanted to talk to Vonnie. She is the one who helps me in Mexico sometimes.
I said, "Vonnie did you call me"? She said no that wasn't her phone number, it was John's. I said well I need to talk to John then. He had not called me and he had no idea what had happened but said, "Well I have been wanting to talk to you. I want you to come and preach at my church and also in August I want to start a Bible School. These are to train Mexican Nationals to reach their own people. In 1984 he and I both taught in a town in Mexico which he still works in. My heart is in this work but when the last Bible School I taught in closed as the missionary who had it was unable physically to carry on that seemed to end. I said, "I will not knock on doors and ask to teach. If God wants me to teach he will open the door."
So tonight I received a call from an angel. Who knows. I might be teaching again. I am glad my body is in better shape and I plan to keep working on it so I can be strong for The Lord till my last day on this earth and do His will. Thank you Lord and thank you Sparks. Thank you all of you who have and are still praying for me.

I too believe in angels & in wonderful miracles that sometimes seem like coincidences but are too incredible to write off as simply that. I have had those experiences myself & am happy for you Irene. What a wonderful opportunity!

    You remind me of my Brother, Irene. He retired from Missionary Service in Brazil. Here, boredom set in, so since my Hubby's health was failing, they shared being ministers of Seniors. He took it full time when my Hubby retired. A few years later, he retired again, but he loves to teach. If he doesn't have a couple assignments a week, he is miserable.

Good for you in going back to teach. Our Pastor said he wanted to die serving the Lord...and he did just that. No one can show me where retirement is mentioned in the Word. emoticon

    Isn't it wonderful that the Lord can reach us anytime He wishes? What a glorious experience. I have only had one like that in my life, but I'm sure that God knows I can only handle one!

    Praise the Lord!!!! What a testimony! My mother, a preacher from long ago days and we could swap stories about how God does things.
