MY BROTHER'S OBITUARY

Saturday, December 22, 2012

I went online and found my brother's obituary and his guest book. He had only one entry which I found strange as he had many friends.
I signed the guest book and someone else I knew also signed afterwards.
His name is Henry Joseph Chipman and lived in Santa Maria California.

I find many things odd as his wife's niece told me I didn't need to call or e-mail her anymore. It is like I was dismissed from his life. They had no children either.

He was cremated at his request, the niece said, and she didn't know what they would do with the ashes.

I do know he will have a new body and a new home. His last words to me which he could hardly utter were "I love you too, Irene". These words I will always treasure in my heart.

Irene

It sounds like you and your brother had a close relationship and his last words were his confirmation of that. People grieve differently and some need to close a door to move on. It's hard to understand. emoticon

You have many people that love you and I know I feel very close to you and appreciate all you do for me as a Maintainer. Your devotionals "hit home" so many times. It's like the Lord is speaking to me through your words.

So thank you for who you are, what you do and the light that you share!

Irene, that has to really hurt to be dismissed just like you have no feelings or say so in the matter....it sure does sound strange to me too.

I am so glad you have the last words he said to you to remember as your special treasure he gave to you alone.

He is waiting for you and all pain is gone and he is strong and younger and in full health and strength.

I am so sorry she had no respect for your feelings. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thank you so much everyone for y our lovely comments. His wife has alzheimers and is 90 years old. The niece is the niece of the wife and of course I never met her.
When I read Mary's comment on the guest book I saw it going across the page before I read the comment. It brought tears to my eyes, but good tears.
So unless the niece of his wife contacts me that page of my life is closed until we meet in heaven.

Sending hugs to you.....There are a lot of people who are not computer savvy or know how to find a funeral home website to leave condolences. I'm sure his many friends will miss and pray for him.

He left this world and was able to convey his love to you at the end. That is the very most important thing. I have a sibling that has not talked to me or his daughter, grandkids for over 6 years because of a messy divorce and a penchant for trying to blame everyone but himself for his shortcomings. Considering how your brother's spouse and her relatives are acting now, you are better rid of such bitter people. May God bless and hold you close in your time of sadness...

Your brother's last words to you are all that's really important Irene.
Sadly, when one of my brothers was dying, his mate told us that SHE was the only one allowed to see him! We should have known better and just gone to the hospital! We never got to hear any last words.

Your brothers to you are priceless, treasure them!

Irene, a dear friend passed on, in August and I, too found it strange that not many visited his online obituary and posted in the guest book. He was well loved, by many.
I am hoping that more, actually signed the book at the funeral home.
He was buried, in another state, so I am not sure.

Sadly, I have heard the story of dismissal, far too often, from even siblings, at the loss of their parents! An inexplicable thing. Even if it were to be a natural progression of less involvement, some people do not have the social decency to do it with any amount of tact.

You had a wonderful last conversation and you have memories. Best of all, you know where he is. emoticon

Don't know how close you were to your sister-in-law and neice, could it be this is how they are grieving? Maybe things will change with them but know your brother will be watching over you from heaven now. Love you, Judy

Live through his memories as we all have to pass this way as well. Some people can move on however, it seems like you may need to talk to the wife as you're getting second hand info. She may be suffering as well. It's difficult losing a love one however, he understood and left you a real sweet message and know that your living has not been in vain. Don't sweat the small stuff and keep on doing, what you're doing. My condolences! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

A CLARIFICATION ON MY BLOG ON THE KNEES

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

emoticon emoticon

Some have said they had two knees done at once and other said one at a time.
My doctor said ONE AT A TIME as it would be less risk. He is doing the most painful first.

And to top it all off I came home and found a note in my door saying they are going to work on my street and no one can park on it for three days. I'm not used to walking that far so someone loaned me a walker. I already parked my car in my space after finding who was already in it. A neighbor helped me find them and they moved it.
I did better with the borrowed walker even though the wind was blowing so hard I thought it would blow me away.

SO NOT TO WORRY One knee at a time but then I have to go through the process twice which will take a while. I plan to live 17 more years so want them to be well done.

Irene

Irene, You will be glad that you had your knees done and done one at a time. I had my left one done Aug.22, 2012. I am excited about having the right one replaced on March 13, 3013. Attitude is so important. I live alone and my daughter stayed with me the first 5 or 6 six nights. She was always close by when I showered but I was able to do that all by myself. The dr. wanted me up walking and doing exercises as much as possible. It was such a positive experience as I am sure yours will be. Therapy is very important. It was so surprising how fast the first 6 weeks went. Oh, one last thing. I feel so much better and have more energy than before. I didnt realize how tiring it was to try to function with bad knees. God bless you. Will pray for your surgery.

Irene, I cannot imagine both knees at once, that would really be too hard I think.

I am glad you are pushing forward to maintain your body so that you can go on with a good quality of life.

Just the thought of surgery really causes me to get high strung and over the top and emotional.

I for one don't like the thought of losing control over myself, my body and what is happening to me.

I went through ten pregnancies and got back on my feet as quickly as I could and refused to stay in bed for any length of time.

Just knowing you are going for an operation brings all these memories back to me.

I pray that your doctors are spirit led of truth and our Lord's grace and love surround you to keep you in perfect peace and all that the operation entails goes quickly and smoothly and that you heal and bounce back to health and strength faster then ever expected in the name of Jesus.

To your good health and long living and strong body being preserved by the love and grace of our Lord to be used for the body of Jesus to encourage all others in Him.

Irene - i wrote some info on SP in my post re experiences other people had with knee ops. on the whole, all were successful.

i think those who followed dr.'s re exercise did better. some people are afraid to move and sit more after the op and that is wrong. if you can't go to a pool, walk in house using a walker or cane. walking poles good too as you have 2 for balance.

prayers with you always - JO emoticon

My surgeon will only do one knee at a time. Cousin had both knees done at same time and now thinks it was a mistake. My physicsal therapist expected me to do my exercises 3X a day. If I had both knees repaired at same time, I know I would not have been able to do that much in one day.

WHAT I FEEL TO DO ABOUT MY KNEES

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

After a long time of having pain in both of my knees I knew I needed to do something about it so took the ball in my hands. My doctor said you are not ready for surgery but the way I walk and the pain I have, etc. told a different story.

So I went to an orphopedic surgeon my doctor recommended today. You asked me to let you know what the doctor said.

He definitely said I need both knees replaced and I really like the way he said he would take care of me.

I liked the him and people I talked to in the waiting room gave him a good recommendation. The 8th I go to see the anesthesiologist to see if I am able to have the surgery. The doctor said he had done knee surgery on people older than I including his own mother. He said it is according to our health.

I believe this is what God wants me to do and would appreciate your prayers. I don't know when I will have the surgery as I have to wait my turn.

Irene

God will be with you, Irene. I know you believe that.
I had my right knee replaced a over year ago. It was difficult at times but I went through the therapy and am totally pain free. What a difference it has made in my life!
My doctor wanted to wait until I was older but I said, "We never know how long we will live and my family is not long-lived; these may be my last active years and I want them! He immediately agreed; I received wonderful care and can do things now that I couldn't do even 5 or 6 years ago. I still can't scrub the kitchen floor on my knees -- but I don't miss that!

I had both knees replaced last year, right one in April, left one in Sept. I was 69 and had been disabled for over 12 years.
I would have had them done sooner but needed to lose some weight first.
I sailed through the operations and recover was fantastic.
Now i can do everything. Well not supposed to run, but I don't want to run at 71 any more anyway. Running was one of the reasons my knees gave out in the first place.
If you have a joint or part of your body that is failing, get it fixed. The doctors can do fantastic work. But you have to work at it too.
You will feel like a new person when you have knees that support you, are free from pain.
Take care, my best to you.

THE LOST IS FOUND

Friday, December 07, 2012

emoticon emoticon

Well, I have one less stress. I couldn't find my original IRA CD and they told me I had to have it. I knew I didn't as I knew I just needed some Id's. I asked them if they planned to keep my money. I had had my Ira there for 10 years.
If they would of tried I would have stood at the door and told everyone who came in they wouldn't give them their money. I might have too. Can't you see me taken down town to the police station. Then they would have trouble.

THE HEADLINES A poor 83 year old woman was arrested because the bank wouldn't give her her money because she couldn't find the document.
What a story.

I had put it in with some other important papers for my niece who is my executor of my estate. Well if I couldn't find it how could she? Anyway I got rid of a bunch of stuff I didn't need and now have the document. You see I am changing banks and since I had had it there for 10 years they thought I should leave it I guess. I am putting it in a bank which pays more interest which of course is nothing as we know, but it is closer to my house.

So I will be able to sleep now. I found it. I did, I did.

I also found out on the internet that the two dollar bills I have been hoarding are worth emoticon Did you guess? Two dollars so I might as well spend them .

Irene, this blog also reminds me of the woman in the Bible who was looking for her lost coin of great value.....she swept her house clean.....called to her neighbors to help her find her great treasure.....where is your treasure? Where is my treasure?

Do you see how my mind works? LOL

Your blog is so heaven sent to me LOL

Where your heart is is where your treasure is, where your treasure is is where your heart is.....Jesus is our treausre!! emoticon emoticon

Irene, you really made me laugh with this blog. LOL.

Life gets so frustrating at times doesn't it? LOL

I am so glad you found what you were looking for and was able to complete what you wanted to get done. Praise God!!! LOL

Your story was reminding me of Jesus and how we get to heaven. We get to heaven through Jesus and His shed blood which is the only way, just like you needed that document to get out what belonged to you.

So many people think there are so many ways to heaven and Father God and there is truly only one way and the gate, the door to heaven is Jesus, His cross and His shed blood.

I was imagining people arguing that they have to be admitted to heaven because of all the good they did and all the money the gave away and other various things but they never called on the name of Jesus. They never claimed Jesus as their own personal Savior and Lord.

I just cannot seem to help myself but to see Jesus in all things that happen with people and how we think and live and react to things. LOL

Your blog is such a great message to the unsaved people of the world.

I am so glad you are going to spend that two dollars LOL

This blog did my heart so much good for today thank you so much Irene. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

You're my mom's age. When is your birthday, Irene? I think I would do the same thing. I got ripped off by Paypal. I bought something and the person/private party never sent me what I paid for. Paypal closed the case/complaint because supposedly it was not filed within their timeline. I was NOT happy and let them know, sure, it was only $24.00 but it is the prinicple, so I let MANY people know so Paypal can be exposed for doing this to people and they they twice about using Paypal.

Glad to hear you found it!!! I just don't think most banks are 'user friendly' anymore. It's all about the 'bottom line'.....theirs NOT ours!! I'm sure that gave you more piece of mind AND the bank will be closer to your home -- a win-win situation in my book!

SPARK FRIENDS ARE THE BEST

Monday, December 03, 2012

emoticon for all of your kindness. I believe it hurt worse when my brother was sick and before he died as I could hear him go down and down.
I'm so thrilled he accepted the Lord. He was the last one of my family into the fold. I have one remaining brother and he was the first person I ever won to the Lord. All the rest have died and waiting for us.

I am going to have a stress test the 16th of January to see if my cardiologist thinks I would be safe to have knee replacements. I sure need them as I have a fear of falling. Both knees bend in.

I am way behind so hope you read this blog. I finally did acknowledge all of the goodies but behind on e-mails.

I still need work done on my computer.

So lots going on. Seems I have doctor's appointments a lot. Today was the dentist, Tuesday the ear doctor, Wednesday the house cleaner, Hair fixed on Friday then week end preparing for church and church on Sunday. Busy, busy, busy.

God bless all of you.

Irene, you are so right that life is for the living and living means keeping busy with untold numbers of "things" that need to be done that the world considers important but really are not all that important for our eternal living quarters LOL.

I am so thankful you have your family waithing for you because that will be a time of happy reunions yes and amen.

All that we can do is what Holy Spirit has laid out for each of us to do with each new day. Just so long as we keep following His leading then we will be in His perfected will for us. And being in His perfected will is the important way to live life on this earth.

You are deeply loved by heaven above. emoticon

God has a knack of using people for just such purpose during difficult times. While as Christians, we celebrate the life our families have in eternity, we still mourn the loss felt by their absence.

May the doctor give you the information needed to made wonderfully informed choices. The transition from two legs, three legs (cane), then four-six legs (walker) are major milestones that take their own toll on the psyche. May God give you that special peace (Shalom) that gives you great comfort.

Irene, I'm so glad your brother accepted the Lord before he passed away and you can rest a bit easier knowing that he did. Yes, the hardest part is when we know our loved ones are going downhill and we have to see/hear them suffer. That happened to my sister who passed away in April and as the saying goes 'we were glad her suffering ended'.

You do keep so busy my friend and right now I think that's a good thing. Doctor appts take up a lot of time and with the stress test coming up in January, I hope you'll get the nod to have knee replacements done. That would take care of one health problem!

Take care of YOU, do what's best for YOU and get some rest and good sleeps.
Love you,
Gloria

Irene, I know what you mean, it is hard seeing, and hearing a loved one go down hill. I keep you in my daily prayers. You are always so supportive and dedicated to all of us.
I worked the church food bank this morning, got my Christmas cards addressed this afternoon, tomorrow I get hair done, Wed. a Friend's Son is bringing her in to see me. She don't drive and he does this every year at Christmas. I always bake him double chocolate brownies with a lot of nuts for doing that. We exchange our little gifts, have tea and dessert and chat. He used to go outside with Brooks and sit and talk, and he is going to miss him a lot. Yes, time flies, and I pray that if you need and want the knee surgery that your heart is in good enough condition.

Hugs and prayers
Marsha
