WHEW IT IS HOT HERE

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

It's been SO HOT in Southern Texas:
.....the birds have to use potholders to pull the worms out of the ground.
.....the trees are whistling for the dogs.
.....the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance
.....hot water comes from both taps.
.....you can make sun tea instantly.
.....you learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.
.....the temperature drops below 90 F and you feel a little chilly.
.....you discover that in July it only takes two fingers to steer your car (one on each hand).
.....you discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.
.....you actually burn your hand opening the car door.
.....you break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 5:30 A.M.
.....your biggest motorcycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death"?
.....you realize that asphalt has a liquid stage.
.....the potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter.
.....the cows are giving evaporated milk.
....farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.

Your comment about it being cold in TX at 90 degrees. A few years ago my daughter & family moved back to Oregon from Corpus Christi - daughter about froze to death ALL summer - in our 80 and 90 degree weather (with NO humidity).

I might add that they have since moved back to TX, she didn't like it here after living there several years - and she was actually raised here! It's funny what we get used to.

TODAY THEY TRIED TO TEMPT ME

Monday, July 16, 2012

My friend who is from Colombia and had gone with her family to visit her family there returned last week.

She called and asked if I could eat candy and told her I had not had sweets for so many days.

She said well, I brought you some Colombia Candy.

I said ok I'll put it in my candy dish and let my visitors get fat. emoticon

She said if you have it in the candy dish you will eat it.

I said I will not. I have made up my mind.

Besides it being candy it is coffee flavored candy and I don't drink coffee either.

It was in a little purse made in Colombia. Cute !

So I am determined, I've made up my mind!

MY DOCTOR'S VISIT

Friday, July 13, 2012

Yesterday, the 12th of July, was doctor's day. I'm glad I'm not superstitious as today is Friday the 13th. This is the day the Lord has made, I will be glad and rejoice in it.

The doctor walked in and "said how are you" and I said mighty fine thank you.

I had lost 5 pounds since last visit, it was my 8th day without desserts, my blood pressure was perfect, all vitals fine, he asked if I was sleeping good and I said emoticonsometimes I sleep too much. He asked about all prior complaints and seemed I had none.

I told him I woke up in the morning, emoticongood sign, could still drive, had feet and could still walk but not as much, that my balance was better after the PT and I had not fallen.

emoticon

He drew blood though as I think they either have a vampire hidden or sell it to the blood bank. emoticon He did want to know that my potassium level was alright as I take what looks like a horse pill of it each day and also since I take a mega dose of Vitamin D checked that to see if I am getting too much.

I see him in 4 months.

I forgot to tell him I use a lot of Kleenex in the morning until my sinuses are cleared out though.

One thing I did tell him was I had dry ears, dry eyes, dry nose, dry skin, and said I'm just a dried up old woman. I said no I'm not, I'm a dried up young woman. He got a emoticonout of that.

Today I get my hair fixed so will feel even younger. After all I'm only 3 years into my third child hood. emoticon

Thanks for reading my rambling if you did.

Irene

NEWS LETTER JULY 2012

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

IRENE'S NEWS LETTER JULY 2012

God bless all of you! God is so good to me.

I had physical therapy which has helped me with my balance. That is finished now and my balance is better. I was able to pray for my Physical Therapist so ministered to him Spiritually as he ministered to me physically. The last day he came after I prayed for him I said "Now you pray for me. Pray for my knees."
He said "Oh I can't pray a powerful prayer like you do" I said "Just pray from your heart so he did and it was wonderful. So I was able to get him to pray.

I pray for people online, on the telephone, in restaurants, where ever and minister to them as the Lord leads.

My church calls me mama Irene and when mother's day came they honored me. The pastor said now we have another mother. She has a lot of spiritual children an they give me a gift card and other things. It is a joy to serve in the church teaching the Spanish Sunday School class, praying in the altar at times and anything else the pastor wants me to do in the service. I did miss one Sunday though as the former pastors of a church I had visited each year and I hadn't seen in 5 years were close by ministering in another church so I went there. Everyone treated me so nice there also.

If you have f/b you can go to my page and see my album and also the wall they are putting up. Yesterday the pastor's wife called and it is almost finished now so that is good.

Since they have outdoor services two or three times a month they want to put a floor on part of it and the other is for parking. It is a large lot.

So far we have built the two story church (the lot is in front of the church), a parsonage, a wall around the church and parsonage. In Mexico you need to put a wall around your property. Then we bought the Lot and are putting the wall around it. Then will put the floor on some of it.

Today I had such a nice blessing. A friend from church took me to lunch and brought me a dozen of red roses. We visited for three hours.

Your missionary,
Irene

Since we moved to Maryland, one thing miss is having an alter call. My husband was on staff at First Baptist Dallas Deaf Ministry for 15 years so he quickly became close to the pastor here. He is working on him to start having an alter call time.

It's been interesting attending a church that is not evangelical. My husband and i wondered why the pastor never gave a call for salvation. You know asking who wants to accept Jesus. Recently he asked the pastor. His thought is the call for salvation is the job of the Holy Spirit. It just happens privately The concept of asking people during a service was foreign to the pastor. His first thought was if he asked people to accept Christ, it was him putting that idea in their head not the Holy Spirit. Interesting.

My husband has been talking to him about the evangelical 's reason for actively encouraging people to accept Christ. Yes we believe the Holy Spirit leads but we have a role too.

I plan to find you on Facebook.

SOME SUMMER THOUGHTS

Thursday, July 05, 2012

From Godvine. I thought this was good enough for all to read.

Some Summer Thoughts

Do you know why a car's windshield is so large & the rear view mirror is so small? Because our past is not as important as our future.

So, look ahead and move on. Friendship is like a book. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.

All things in life are temporary. If going well, enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong, don't worry, they can't last long either.

Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, God smiles from above and says, "Relax, it's just a bend, not the end!"

When God solves your problems, you have faith in his abilities; when God doesn't solve your problems, he has faith in your abilities.

A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision."

Worrying does not take away tomorrow's troubles; it takes away today's peace.
