MANY OF YOU HAVE ASKED

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Many of you have asked for my news letters so thought I would write it in a blog and hope you find it. This is a news-letter I just sent out to my supporters.

Hello everyone: Thank you for your continued support for the work in Mexico. God is good and we know He is more powerful than any enemy.

You wonder where the peaceful Mexico went where I used to live and drive all over without fear. We know they need the gospel of Jesus Christ more than they ever had.

The latest news I have read is they are also recruiting children as young as 11 years old on the US side of the border where I live to work for them. Children and young people are arrested expecting a better life but often finding themselves entrapped in something they can't get out of.

Sundays paper had an article about a teacher from the mid west who came to our area as her relatives were here. She tried to teach in Texas but to teach here needed more training so she substituted for awhile. Then she learned of a job of teaching English in Mexico so moved over there to pursue this. In the beginning it wasn't too bad but each year it became worse.

Finally she went to Soriana one night to shop and when she returned to her truck found it was torn apart (no doubt the steering as this happened to a truck I had years ago in a parking lot also). She called friends who came to her aid but when they got there they hear shooting in the parking lot so hid down in the floor of their vehicles for an hour afraid of what was going to happen.

She is now in the US again substitute teaching.

We still hear of shootings, of people being kidnapped, of mass graves. They have not found the brother of the lady from my Spanish Sunday School class who was kidnapped from his own home and many others have never been found.

So sad but God loves Mexico. We need to pray for our country also. I will be going to the bridge (on our side) to meet the pastors Thursday morning to do my mission work.

There is so much evil in our world--I am glad we have our faith and Jesus to get us through these times. I will start praying more.

Our mission agency has several missionary families in Mexico... some as church planters and some as missionary pilots. We had to pull 3 families out of Durango area due to the terrible violence and threats. One of our other pilots stationed in Chihuahua was arrested and his plane confiscated when he flew into a remote area. It took quite awhile for the powers to be to allow him to be released and even longer to get the plane back.

On the positive note, we have Mexican nationals who are returning to their own home areas to lead their people to Christ...

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing this information. I am saddend by the mean soirited and mean acting people, who act out what they feel is what they are supposed to do. When one knows better, often times they do better. I will continue to pray for your safety, and a much needed revival like I pictured the Azua(mispelled) Revival was. I know that God is making changes, and instead of questioning, I do keep reminding myself to accept what God allows. I am comforted that you are in God's arms. Blessings to you.

Thank you everyone for your comments and for your information. I have sent out other news letters telling of terrible things that are happening and our pastors in Mexico tell me we don't know 1/2 of what is happening.
I know it is dangerous. I was going to write something here now but felt to not write it as it could be dangerous.

Our church supports a missionary who works in the El Paso / Juarez border where it is also very dangerous. This man and his wife are Mexicans, live in TX and travel back and forth across the border at least 3 times a week. He is a pastor and has started a seminary in Juarez to train Mexican men to be pastors. Very dangerous.
But God is the one who brings Peace to His people.

Hi Irene. I heard a missionary from Mexico speak at a conference a year ago. She was of Hispanic descent. She lived in one of the largest cities where beheadings were common and other horrendous things I don't want to mention. She said what was happening was pure evil. I understand that it is not only the poor from Mexico sneaking into the U.S., but terrorists and that was certainly confirmed when an undercover agent was approached by one of the people who thought he contacted a drug cartel operator to help him blow up U.S. and Saudi embassies along with assassination of the Saudi ambassador. Now we hear Mexico is considering offering a 2 year marriage license. Things are moving fast, we must reach people with the truth.

Irene, you are doing some awesome work with what you are doing.

If I had the money you would get it.

Maybe I will be able to, just have to wait and see what comes up with money.

Prayer is the only thing that I can do, but, prayer works miracles.

You are so valuable for the kingdom of God.

Thank you so much for having such a warm and passionate heart for Mexico you are a special person.

I pray for the strength and wisdom of our Lord to guide you as His love showers down onto you and all those around you so that there will be many coming to the cross of Jesus because of the love of God just shining through you and your faithfulness. In the name of Jesus

SOMETHING STRANGE HAPPENED TODAY

Friday, October 07, 2011

Today a girl friend had a b/d so I took her out to eat.
The funny thing is that a man and his mother were sitting at the table next to ours and before my g/f got there we were talking.
The lady said you are so beautiful.
Now when a man tells me that I don't believe him but when a woman tells me that is different especially if she is a stranger.
Well her birthday is tomorrow. I said my birthday is the 26th of October.
The son got up and came and showed me his driver's license. He was also born on October 26th.
Now that was a real coincidence. I talked to him about losing weight.
His mother who was diabetic had already lost weight and they had given her only a short while to live but she is 75 and still going.
He thought he was alright as he had his father's genes. His uncle on his father's side lived to be 98.
I am sure people get tired of me preaching healthy living but I told him he could still have physical problems if he did not take care of himself.
My Profession is Missionary but I am also a missionary for Spark.
I believe we need to take care of the Temple of the Lord.
Irene

Amen to that. I loved what you had written and you are very beautiful. I am trying to stay on track and live longer. I too am diabetic along with an emotional eater. I pray each night that the Holy Spirit will help me make better choices, but unfortunately I still go my own way many times and fail.

Very true. I remember a wonderful man whose parents both lived to nearly 100. Shortly after they died he was diagnosed with cancer....because he had never bothered with screening tests. Living a healthy life if primary, but seeking professional confirmation is also important.

It's nice to have pleasant conversations with total strangers, isn't it? We are all missionaries in that. We all may be the first health book someone will ever read.

I PROMISED YOU

Wednesday, October 05, 2011

Sometime ago I promised someone I would explain this status picture.
Seems I did not do it. emoticon
Well, here goes, When I became desperate to lose weight I joined TOPS (take off pounds sensibly) and also found Spark.
Get on your mark set go.
On February 12th of 2007 was my start day.
I had 52 pounds to lose.
On September 15 2007 I reached my goal of 152.
Don't say you can't do it when you are older. Some are in their 60's and think they are too old to lose weight.
NOT SO!
Now TOPS has yearly meetings where TOPS graduate to KOPS (Keep off pounds sensibly) and some become queens.
I graduated to a KOPS and became queen of our chapter and I think I have a ribbon showing of our district also.
Many others lost much more as they had much more to lose.
Some lose 100 or more pounds. emoticon
So a friend of mine helped me choose a dress, paid for it, others helped me with underwear, another with a ring and off I went to our yearly emoticon
It was awesome. So many queens, kings and KOPS and a candle for each KOPS as they circled the big hall.
I have a trophy cabinet with trophies, tiara, ribbons, charms, etc.
Why would I ever want to give that up?
So many memories.
So those who didn't know and asked now you know.
I have a friend on the KOPS team of SPARK who is little princess. She knows how it feels.
Let's go everyone.

emoticon

Irene, you are truly an inspiration on SparkPeople but especially on TOPS. Becoming a KOPS is a really big deal but becoming a QUEEN of TOPS is TOPS!!! I'm so excited to be able to rejoin my TOPS group again in December and for the six months I'll be in the States. BUT I just learned yesterday that through a few circumstances, they just lost their meeting place where they have met for years and years. They had no place to meet last Thursday. So, I have no idea where my TOPS group will be when I get home.

Go QUEEN IRENE! emoticon

THE BENEFITS OF LOSING WEIGHT

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

There are many benefits to losing weight.

When I lost weight:

My cholesterol was normal (went off of medication)

My blood pressure is very good.

AND THE LATEST;
Each year the doctor signed a paper for me to get special medicare shoes,
This year he said "I can't sign this'. You do not have sugar diabetes"
I mentioned the fact that he had told me I would always have it.
He said, "But you do NOT have sugar diabetes".
Praise the Lord. God is good.

Losing those 52 pounds changed my life in many ways.

One thing on the negative side was I had my drivers license renewed today. My face is skinny and I have a turkey neck.

Today (october the 6th) I received my driver's license and it wasn't so bad after all in color. Also it is renewed for six more years so I get to live to at least 89. :)Also there are no restrictions on my license. WooHoo

Well that is better than having chipmunk cheeks and a basketball tummy, high blood sugar, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

So I'll take the skinny face and turkey neck.

Thanks for listening to my testimonial.

Here in WA state they no longer want a person to wear their glasses for driver's license photos, so now I look slimmer in the face, more wrinkled than I am used to, and have that half-blind look of people used to wearing glasses!

At least you don't have to "fudge" a little when you put down your weight--to be honest, I only wish what it said on my Driver's License was correct. You're such an inspiring and beautiful lady both inside and out. . .God Bless you.

HUgs,

Jill

    Hi Irene
That is a great example of the benefits of releasing weight. You did a awesome job and found certain conditions gone. I think that is amazing about the diabetes. I think you are right, I would choose today's picture and better health over any past pictures. I like your description of your old picture.

Thanks for sharing emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Driver's license pictures never look good anyway emoticon , but you are right it is certainly better than all the negatives (high blood pressure, etc.). BTW, I think your picture you have posted on here is beautiful and I mean that emoticon.

CALLING ALL PRAYER WARRIORS

Sunday, September 25, 2011

Since my computer is so emoticonI decided to write this in a blog instead of trying to post on all of the teams I belong to.

emoticonOur God is bigger than any problem we might have.
Sunday School and worship was great today then I ate out with an elderly couple from my church. The gentleman goes to my Sunday School class and they have been missionaries to Mexico for about the same number of years as I have.
I have been concerned about him and he finally found out he had a TIA (mini stroke). I know what that is as my husband had them.
This gentleman is 86 or 87 and his birthday is Wednesday.
He is worried about himself also.
He doesn't see his cardiologist until the 24th of October.
Today he had chicken fried steak and gravy which is very bad and has biscuits and gravy for breakfast. He also has diabetes and takes insulin.
Please emoticonfor him and also for his wife who is two years older than he and almost blind.
They are very active in church still even though I see him worn out.
God bless you.

    UPDATE:
I called the gentleman this morning. He was at church helping to count the offerings. He never rests.
I told him he needed to see his cardioligist sooner and he says but I have an appointment for the 24th. I said yes but the 24th of October. He said do you think I should see him sooner. I said yes I do. He said to call him back at 2:00.

Our pastor today in church asked for prayer that he would be dedicated to work at his health problems diligently. He also has diabetes and has just continually ate what ever he wanted.
Perhaps it is the time that the Lord is truly speaking to His people to change their lifestyles to honor their body as a temple.
I am not judging I just hope this man is encouraged by Holy Spirit and he listens.

Will pray, but he really needs to be encouraged to ask for an earlier appointment, and needs to change his diet. We cannot ask God to do for us what we need to do ourselves. I will pray that "the eyes of his heart will be opened, and he will see and know the wisdom of God in caring for himself". Ravyna
