I HAVE A FRIEND

Friday, August 26, 2011

This came in my mail box this morning from GodVine.com

"The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. Zephaniah 3:17

Hi, Irene!

Any time you feel alone in life, remember that God is always there. He is there to save you, protect you, comfort you, guide you, love you, and watch over you. Every day and every night.

How timely! God knows just when we need a special word from Him.

Yes, I have a lot of wonderful friends but I am glad the Lord said He would be my husband.

Enjoy your spouse while you have him or her. Make time for them.
Also a friend said we can say the same for family and friends. I believe that also. Give me the roses while I am alive. When I am dead I can't smell them and they soon will die also.

God bless all.

Irene(not the hurricane)

EARTHQUAKES

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

My heart goes out to all of my friends who suffered an earthquake especially to those who had never suffered one before and thought they never would.
I am so glad you are all well or at least those we heard from are and assume the rest are also.

NOW I WANT TO TELL YOU SOMETHING FUNNY ABOUT THE ONLY TREMOR I WAS IN. It was not big enough to be called an earthquake.
When I lived in OAXACA Mexico I lived on the fourth floor of an apartment building.
One night I felt the bed shaking and thought it was my co-worker shaking as she was a very nervous person. Then I began to hear dishes rattling so decided it was an earthquake. Since I had never been in one I had no idea what to do I went back to sleep. The next morning I found out it was a tremor as it wasn't big enough to be an earthquake.
Needless to say it did not help my co workers nerves. She soon left to go back home and I went to teach in a Bible Institute in Monterrey.
Years later they had the big one in Mexico City which was huge and destroyed much of the downtown area. I saw some of the ruins on a trip there afterwards

Our mission agency has missionaries serving in OAXACA... they have translated the complete Word of God into the Chatino language. My dad was the printer for our mission and printed some of the first books that were completed. My mom was a secretary and worked on getting it formatted. Today, I have a completed full Bible in Chatino in honor of my parents.

The only "earthquake" (don't know if it was just a tremor or not) was when I was a child, home alone, and I felt the floor move (it was on a slab)... so - here in Wisconsin, we might get some tornadoes threaten us - but so far, no earthquakes...

It is getting pretty unnerving when we start seeing earthquakes where we never did before. Even Ontario Canada felt the affects of this Virginia one.
I live also on a fault line and they keep saying our province could be next.
If it wasn't for my faith, I would be living in constant fear.

Mat 24:6-8
And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars.
See that you are not troubled; for all these
things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom
against kingdom. And there will be famines,
pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Where I live in Guyana in South America we don't
get earthquakes but once in a blue moon we
would experience a tremor. Blessings to all.

I thought that the train had derailed. I had no communication and I was home alone. whn my telephone rang,it was my mother, who lives on Long Island. I was shaken cause I had been attacked by books, so I was crying when she called. She starts to yell, we have to get someone to her, John (my Dad) whi can we call? Jacki, why do you live in the country - this is so crazy and then she hangs up. Both of us are doing fine. we have to accept what God allows. Blessing to you all.

Irene, I love to read your blogs. I have never been in a earthquake, have experienced a smal tornado, several hurricanes being I live in Florida. I don't wish either on my worst enemy.

This quote from the Bible
" think God wants to get our attention as He tells us in His word that these things would happen in the last days before His returning"

Do you know off hand what bookk it is in. I have heard it so often, but have never read it in the Bible.

Have a good night's rest, and I am retiring after reading your blog. Keep up the good writing.

My daughter, Sue, from very near Phila.Pa,was in the airplane coming to MN when the quake hit.

According to USA TODAY, the quake was felt over a very large region "because Eastern North America rests on a fairly cold connected stretch of continental crust. So when you hit it, it tends to ring like a bell." That is why it was felt as far west as Chicago and as far north as Toronto! " the western U.S. is more pieces all jumbled together and is you hit it, it tends to clunk like a pile of sand." emoticon emoticon

We don't get earthquakes in Central NY much. Only 2 or 3 in my 50 yrs. However one occured early morning when my oldest 2 children were 3&4. I woke up hearing the springs on my daughters bed making noise and jumped up ready to tell them to stop jumping on the bed only to find them both sound asleep...lol It was a weird experience. That was the first one I ever remember.

I was scrubbing the bathtub yesterday when the earthquake occured. At first I thought I may be having a dizzy spell or something. After I stood up and could see the walls swaying I knew it wasn't me! It was terrifying to say the least. I am glad we don't get them often. My girls and I met in the hallway coming from different rooms not sure what was going on. We went outside as well as everyone in the neighborhood.

Be prepared for any natural disaster because it can happen. I heard a scientist state that this earthquake was to small to be followed by a tsunami..well we aren't supposed to have 5.9 earthquakes on the eastcoast either. Scientific explainations are fine but God is above all in knowledge and wisdom! emoticon

Many years ago I spent my summer in Portland, Oregon, and there was a quake in Washington state and it felt just like a big truck rolling by. In fact, being from Minnesota I didn't even know what was going on. We have tornadoes and blizzards here so quakes are an unknown for me. The world we live in is very fragile and Mother Nature has to remind us of this fact.

This was my first earthquake. I didn't even know what was happening. The house around me was groaning and creaking, but I didn't feel motion myself. I always that that an earthquake would make me lose balance, or at lease feel like I was on a ship. Because I didn't feel motion, I just thought there was something wrong with the house and ran outside. Very scary but now I know, even though we'll never have another east coast quake in my lifetime.

I lived in Japan for two years and felt a number of earthquakes. Two were more significant. One for it's strength and the other for it's length. I was working at the hospital for one and a small bulletin board fell off of the wall and hit me in the head. It didn't hurt but just surprised me. We had certain procedures we had to do to take care of our patients ( women plus new born babies).

A FUNNY THING HAPPENED THIS MORNING ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIKE PETS

Monday, August 15, 2011

emoticon emoticon
This morning I was at church and noticed I had a missed call from my niece. When the day quieted down enough I called her back.
What is she calling during church for? She knows I go to church! We just talked last night. Well I will find out.
She said her cat had pressed the redial and that was my missed call. I said well tell your cat hi for me and sorry I missed its call.
Can you imagine me answering the phone and hearing a meau at the other end of the line?
We sure had a good laugh over it. The best laugh I have had in a month.

LAST WEEK WAS QUITE A WEEK, MADE ME WEAK

MONDAY 1. Took the emoticonto the car doctor. Did not get the work done. If I am going to spend agency prices I will go to the agency.
2. Bought gas and was going to go through the car wash. It was not working.
Final results, poor car. It looks like a dust ball rolling down the highway with bird poop on it.

TUESDAY Went to a new dentist to get my teeth cleaned. I like his hygienist and also the dentist. Also it is less than a mile down my street and he charges less than the other one charged. My teeth are emoticon

FRIDAY went to the emoticonspecialist. He seems to think I am A-1 okay.
Then had lunch with two of my Spark Friends as one of them lives in the town and another close by. It is about 40 or more miles round trip from my home.

SATURDAY Went to a birthday emoticonfor one of the ladies in my Sunday School class at a Japanese restaurant.
AND FOUND OUT SUNDAY I HAD BEEN MOTIVATOR OF THE DAY ON SATURDAY emoticon

I noticed I got a couple of the days turned around but don't want to risk losing this so will leave it.

Also the week before I had a visitation On Sunday and a funeral on Monday to attend.

Some things emoticonsomethings not so emoticon

Again I want to thank all who voted for me as a MOD. You are appreciated my emoticon's.

I have had no pain from the gout since getting the shot in my foot.

Today is a new day, a new week and a new month. Let's make the most of it.

    Hi Irene
What a great blog and you certainly did have a interesting week, I think except for the car repairs , you had a wonderful week. Just like icing on the top of a cake , you topped your month with being voted MOD. You certainly deserved it with all that you do for all of us. Congratulations and let August be a positive, exciting, successful month.

FIVE SIMPLE RULES TO BE HAPPY.

Saturday, July 23, 2011

A Donkey's Tale

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quietened down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less.
