emoticon I am leaving for Louisiana in a few hours. Everyone who loves cajun food say amen. My desire is to choose broiled or blackened seafood and not come back with some more extra pounds. I can't afford to keep putting on the pounds LOL
Since I will only be gone two days maybe I will be able to do it. Perseverence, portion control and healthy choices.
Never give up.

Bridesmaid at 80

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Can you imagine? I would rather be the bride. My best friend is getting married the 5th of December and she informed me by e-mail, no less, that I was to be the bridesmaid and her step daughter who is her age (since she married her last husband who was much much older than she) is to be her matron of honor.
Do miracles never cease. We should never let age keep us from living. We must enjoy life and I say I will never be any younger than I am today so might as well. What the heck.
Just thought I would let you all know the latest in my life.

Marcy you asked the story of the pic. In February of 2007 I started going to TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) and lost 55 pounds in nine months which put me at my goal weight. Because of the weight loss I became queen of our chapter and district and also graduated to a KOP (Keep off Pounds Sensibly). Three of us from our chapter went to our district convention in Northern Texas where we had the ceremonies. So many beautiful queens and a lot of slim KOPS. It was a great fun time.
We had to dress in white. Actually my dress is ecru which is kind of an off white and the crown says TOPS.
Some people say you can't lose weight when you are older, I say I will never be younger than I am today.

Irene, you loved lovely. TOPS CLUB is a great organization. BUT you did fantastic to get to your goal, since many people come there for years and NEVER get to goal weight. But I have known KOPS who have kept their status for YEARS and that is so wonderful to see.

Tonight, the 19th of September, I didn't want anything I had in my freezer or fridge. I was really burned out on chicken breast and wanted PIZZA. I thought about it more than once and thought of dressing and going out to get one. What should I do? I knew it wasn't good as I knew I would eat all of a small one instead of a slice or two. After all who can eat one slice of Pizza?
I didn't even want the fudge bar I found at DQ with only 50 calories. I was in a dilema. I was hungry but I did not want tuna, or soup or, or, or.
So I ended up eating guess what? A bowl of cereal instead of Pizza. I will get over it as I had not had Pizza for maybe two years.
I will not let myself destroy my body again. I will not. I love the way I feel and look now.

Dan, who wants to split a personal size pizza????? And I do realize it has too many calories for one but not enough pizza.

Irene- good Job on swapping the cereal for pizza
I think the cheese and oil and dough would have weighted you down
Have you ever tried Kashi "Go Lean" cereal?

Cheers !

Way to go my friend....you sounded like me cuz I have given in to my bowl of cereal too. We are just hungry and want to find the easy way - what taste really good!!

It's hard when the food is limited and the same old same old.

By the way - love that picture! What is the history?

Way to go Irene maybe you ca have lunch and split a personal size if they still make them with a friend. That way it is not to much and yet you will not deprive yourself either.
I have found it is not what I eat but the portions that get to me.
Thank you for sharing

There is no place like home even in deep south Texas where the normal temperature for this time of year is 100. Thank God for air conditioning.
I arrived home tired and with much to do but am taking it one day at a time, doing the essential things first.
The services were good where I spoke, the people kind and generous, the convention was the best I had been in in ages and the 40 year church dedication was super.
I did have an accident as I was visiting my very ill sister in law in an area I am not used to driving in and when I looked off to the side to see the street I hit a car from behind. Even the officer was nice to me, the car repair place was very helpful as was the car rental place.
We can persevere in anything if we make up our mind to do so. I had just finished my last service in Kansas City that morning, had the accident, rented a car and the next day drove to Oklahoma to the anniversary and other services. Finished up just in time to drive back to Kansas City and the next day picked up my car and drove to Oklahoma again to visit friends and do one more service then on home.
Now if I could do that I can take off the pounds I gained while I was gone and have already lost some of them.
We can, we can, we can do what we make up our minds to do. Come on men and women. Put your mind to do it and you will see the pounds coming off. I know not all need to lose weight, but have other issues we resolve to solve each day.
God bless all
