The weight is coming off.
You are looking emoticon
Clothes are fittig looser.
But you don't want to buy new clothes yet as you will just have to turn around and buy again pretty soon.
What to do?
I've told you before my pants literally fell off of me as I crossed the street in front of my house. They were emoticon
Those pants were retired.
Now a big event is coming up!
I'm going north and will be speaking in several churches so need at least two new outfits.
So off I go to shop at the insistance of a girl friend. emoticon of course with a jacket.
I tried one on I liked really well. My girl friend tried to steer me away from it but didn't tell me why right away. She found another she liked (I ended up buying both)
Then she told me! You need to go be fitted for a bra.
Look where the darts are. Yea I looked. The girls (as some call them) were a long way below the darts where they should be.
So off we went to fit me for a bra. I had worn the same size forever. I was amazed at the size they came up with and I looked so much better.
Girls when you lose weight be sure you buy a new Bra.
Then I lost more weight even while being on a four week trip. I reached my goal soon after returning.
The NEXT BIG EVENT WAS WHEN I WAS TO BE CROWNED QUEEN. Another girl friend bought my beautiful dress but looked at me and said you need to be fit for a bra. LOL. Those little bitty things aren't cheap either but since she bought the dress and shoes I at least could buy that litttle bitty thing so off I go with her best friend and get fit again. Different size again.
Don't forget the underwear men and women. Do you want wrinkles under your clothing. Find something nice and smooth. Throw away whatever might be so big it is liable to fall off of you.
Give away your larger outer clothes. If you don't you are screaming, "I'M SAVING THIS BECAUSE I AM GOING TO GAIN MY WEIGHT BACK."
I used to do that all of the time and sure enough I gained it back and some more also.
Someone out there who hasn't found SPARKS needs those clothes.
You sure don't want them. emoticon

Good underwear is FUN -- and I like wearing undies that fit! I looked at some of the old stuff before I gave it to Goodwill, and the difference in 'before' undies and 'after' undies!! Good advise!!!

Irene, my friend, When a friend has to tell you you need a new bra, you know you are 'over the hill'. Just kidding.

Good advice..nothing worse that a poor fitting bra!! Although last time I was fitted for one, they fitted me a little snugger than I like. I don't like the girls moving & shaking either, but I don't like to feel like I'm in a suit of armor or a vice grip. emoticon

IRENE: Your blog is cute and funny, and it's VERY practical! There is even an intimate thing that happens to your body after weightloss that only married folks will find out - something you don't read about on these diet sites!
Other things that change in size are hat sizes, shoe size, even dentures and eyeglasses will have to be altered, depending on the amount you lose. Think about it...every part of your body will shrink. EVERY part! Hmmm...something to think about, eh? And it's all good.

Hi Irene,
My bra size hasn't changed with my weight loss.(I never had much to begin with!).However, my jeans are way too big and almost fall off! A new wardrobe is in order, but I think I will wait until I meet my goal and just tighten my belt in the meantime.

Great advice, if only I had a place to get a good bra fitting much less to buy a new one. I've had a tailor make new clothes for me but I think they place the breasts much high than we do, but that makes sense when you think how tall our bodies are in comparison. Now to just figure out how to communicate it so they understand. I had taken a shirt that I like as an example hoping that would help, but that detail didn't catch their eye and I am working with one of the best tailors in town. Much rather have this challenge than squeezing into something or needing extra material.

per your email,, I have read your blog, I want it quite funny, you have a great sense of humor. But on your serious note, everything needs replaced including undergarments. I will tell you size 48 undies don't feel good with 34 waist.
I gave every thing I owned away, except 1 pair of 48 inch jeans and xxxx shirt, to show others what they can do with their lives.
Keeping anything larger than we need is permission to need them later.

Great blog, thank you for sharing

Well, as a lot of you know I wrote on my status how lonely I am tonight. After I wrote I began to receive Spark Mail and goodies; telephone calls from my Church, one from Facebook and one from Spark. Sometimes both phones were calling me at once.
Today was such a good day at church but this afternoon I was bored and lonely. Nothing seemed to work out right.
But then as I said tomorrow is another day and I know it will be better.
And I DID NOT GO OUT AND GET A BLIZZARD. I ate a nice juicy peach and drank a bottle of water.
The Bible says we are MORE than overcomers.
So everyone have a good night, sleep good, eat right, drink your water and let's get moving.

It is when we rely on God to provide for our every need (no matter how big or small!) that HE is faithful to us and blesses us abundantly with more than we could ever contemplate in our finite minds. I believe friends coming to our side when we need them is the best example of this type of blessing!

And good move going for the peach. Your body is probably thanking you for that decision today!

Thank you Jodi and Carolyn my missionary girls. I feel so ashamed of being down when others have it so much worse than I do and you guys I'm sure you get lonely sometimes. I remember when I saw my parents once a year for about 3 to 5 days and would drive off with tears in my eyes as they stood on the porch and I wondered if I would ever see them again. When I first went to the mission field we didn't have phones and had to go out to a special place to phone someone and it was very expensive when funds were very low. I would make a call once a year though at Christmas time when I knew the whole family would be around the table and would talk to all of them.

Last night I wanted emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticonwith emoticon
I called for HELP. Everyone kept me so busy reading their responses and answering that I had no time to go out for ice cream.
One friend said eat some protein, then I realized I had no protein for dinner and no meat all day so fixed myself a turkey burger on a sandwich thin and went to bed. I KNOW I have to have meat every day I am a meat person. Notice I said meat not meat and potatoes and gavy.
I feel so good today. I feel like an overcomer with all of you.

I am proud of you, you called out to Spark and your friends did what they do, supported you. However, you still made the final choice and did what you did and succeeded. You also realized the need for meat everyday and will make the adjustment.
There is nothing wrong with ice cream occasionally, but like I said, I would eat the 1/2 gallon in one night. There is also a lot of small portion packages available where i serving would be ok, Some of us would probably eat more than 1.
You have come a long way on your journey and we will help you to reach your goal. You are so close now and WILL do it.

IRENE: You make me think of that saying, "JUST SAY NO!". Ice cream is addictive. I used to know all the reasons why, because it was one of my hardest battles at the time I was losing 50 lb. long time ago. I think it has stuff in it that makes you feel good - you know, the seratonin kind of stuff. Anyway, you must never have it in the house or you can bet you will eat it. It will call out your name until you open that freezer door and look at it. Then it's all over.
However, SparkPeople allow, even recommend for a low-cal treat, a kid's ice cream cone from McDonald's. That's the soft ice cream kind. For some reason, it's different than ice cream you bring home from the store. It's not addictive like the kind that comes in a box. So...when you get that craving, realize this is what they are talking about concerning "emotional eating," and deal with it by eating yogurt, fruit, or something else. In cases where you're going to shoot yourself in the foot if you don't get any, then get in the car and drive to McDonald's. SparkPeople says that even if you get the adult size cone, it's only 150 calories.
And I don't want to forget to say, congratulations on not giving in to that temptation. We have some strong ladies on the CMW team - you beat the ice cream and AMY beat the professional popcorn at the bank the other day! YAHOO!

Well, a lot of questions to answer.
1. About my painful foot. It is no longer painful but is swollen which is nothing new. Two NSAID'S did the trick. I took my third tonight.
2. I have only two more knee injections to go and I think my knees are getting better. I plan to go to the gym tomorrow and do what i can. It is so discouraging when one thing happens then another but I AM AN OVERCOMER AND IT WON'T GET ME DOWN.
3. I picked up my special shoes today while my feet were swollen as that is the time to do it and they fit good.
4. Then to the heart specialist today to see the results of the stress test. He came in emoticon. He told me that when I had my last stress four years ago there was something he didn't like in my heart. He said today my heart was perfect. So I had a emoticonwhen I walked out. He said come back in six months.
5. I went to TOPS and weighed in. I had lost 6 pounds last week and knew it was water and my doc said that is what might have caused the pain in my toe. This week I gained 2 back but hope I can Lose the last 5 and make it to my goal weight.
This was easier than writing to everyone who asked.
God bless you all. I appreciate my Spark Friends so much and also my TOPS friends. We had such fun tonight.

Irene, you didn't need to have the Dr. tell us that you have a perfect heart. We all know it brcause you always show it. Plus your Christian Missionary work proves it. I thank you for the ovely Best wishes & I know that I am fortunate to have had a partner for so long. I tease him because he was gone almost all of the time for our first 23 years of marriage so he is going to have to put up with me for 23 extra years. OH MY.
God Bless you Irene.

    Hi Irene
Just look at you , yes you are indeed an overcomer.
I am glad the pain in your foot is gone, you can deal with the swelling. The doctor told you that the shots would help you and they are, I guess it takes that thing called time. When you go to the gym, do what you can and this is not a do more than you can time. You will have plenty of days to get to the gym.
I think your heart specialist was the best news, I love your smile coming out.
Now , the weight thing, Your body made the adjust and you only have 5 pounds to release. That WILL happen and you know that, No reason to hope for it, just KNOW it WILL and it will come in its right time. I believe that for you.
You have had a very good day, a lot of good news and believe me you have worked hard on yourself to get to this point in time. Congratulations and thanks for sharing the good news.

Well, I realized 2 days a week at the senior fitness wasn't going to do it for me. Especially since I am usually booked one of those days.
So today I enrolled in the GYM again.
I have lost a lost of strength as I have only been walking and not too much.
So today, the first day I took it easy.
I did the emoticonfor 15 minutes and it did not hurt my knees.
Then I did 15 minutes of the upper body machine after the which went to the circuit room and did 15 minutes on the machines I can master.
At the gym I can choose my own hours and days. They are closed Saturday and Sunday though as no one was going.
Just to let you know.
Irene the emoticon

Dear Irene, I am so sorry. Wish I had a magic wand to make it go away. I actually have something better, I can pray! Dear Lord Jesus please heal Irene's toe. Show her what is causing it if it is something she is eating or doing. Give her Your strength to endure the pain and give her Your Grace to accomplish all she needs to do! In Your Precious Name, Amen!

Bless you Irene for not giving up! You are a great example to us all!! Hugs!!

Good to recognize that you were losing strength and joined the gym again. It's really important as we age to keep up the strength training to keep our muscles strong as well as the aerobics for healthy heart.

Why am I hesitating to do what you do? We have a gym right across from my retirement home and yet I am very reluctant to use it. Thanks for writing about what you do. I'm really giving serious thought to starting it in September. Since you have always been so kind, I will let you know if I do and if I do, your blog pushed me to do it.

I thought you had done the 'blizzard' thing again when you wrote 3 blogs with very similar titles!

I gurss I gotta wonder why you quit the gym so fast unless it was a $ thing.I sure know what thats like!

I'm so happy that you reported no pain in your knees during and after your workout today. I hope you put some ice on them when you got home, just in case of a delayed reaction. Did you elevate your legs?

Irene you rubbed off on me...I needed to "do it again too" so tonight instead of sitting here and complaining that it was too hot to walk outside....I went to the Y and rode the bike for 30 minutes...then did a full strength workout and finished up with a mile on the treadmill....I feel so accomplished instead of just sitting here and surfing the web. We can "do it"...thanks for all your encouragement through your own personal trials.

    Hi Irene
I am so proud of you. You are determined to meet your goal and you WILL. If you look at what you did today after not going for a while you did fantastic. I think you made a good choice and one that gives you so much more flexibility in days and times. I liked what you said about the senior fitness wasn't going to work for you. You are so aware of what you need.
Congratulations on your decision and the workout you did today.

Good for you, Irene! You set a good example! I turned 61 recently and am learning why my dad used to say that he felt a definite slow down after 60. Whoa.

How's it going with your no ice cream challenge??? Hmmm? I broke down and bought some of the Weight Watcher fudge bars to have on the nights that I have met my daily nutrition goals and want a treat. Tasty!
