emoticon I am feeling better.
Today I went to Sprouts to buy fresh produce. emoticon
When I left home it was emoticon
When I left the store the wind was blowing and the temperature had fallen about 20 degrees.
Cold wave for us coming in.
Well, as most of you know I was emoticon Saturday, Saturday night, and still felt weak Sunday A.M.
All I wanted to do was emoticon
Didn't want to emoticon
I slept all day Saturday, slept through my p.m. meds Woke up for a few hours early Sunday a.m. and went back to sleep after taking the morning meds.
Of course I missed the little boys birthday party. He turned 4 and I am the nana.
It was at a pizza place. Just made me sick thinking of emoticon
Slept 4 hours. Felt better but it was too late for early church service and too weak to dress and get to the 11:15 service. Also didn't want another bout of diarrhea so didn't risk it.
I had just seen the doc the day before and he told me to see him in three months.
He said I looked good.
I said I always look good emoticon but it is what is on the inside that counts.
I think he gives me an injection or something as every time I see him I get sick.
The Lord willing I plan to go to Walgreen's tomorrow if it isn't raining.
Since I couldn't go do the mission work emoticon last week the Lord willing will go Saturday then come back and get my hair done.
emoticon all my emoticon 's for your emoticon , goodies, hugs, Spark mail, comments. You are so kind and the bestest.

Irene, I'm so sorry you were too sick & missed your GS Birthday Party. I know you disliked not being able to be there. Happy you're feeling better but I'd sure want to know what is in that shot that the Dr. gives you & makes you sick.

Thank you for all you do for the Stronger Seniors Team. Too bad more didn't participate in things there. I hope Gloria is continuing to improve. Anne sure did disappear and I hope one day she'll post a blog and give us an update about how & what she's been up to. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

So glad you are feeling better, Irene. You had quite a poor weekend and it was so nice. The front that came through today was really something, wasn't it. I was in the kitchen and looked at the thermometer. It was 89. About 10 mins. later the wind and rain hit! I looked again at the temp and it was 70 and still dropping. By the time we finished our supper, it was 63. Tomorrow should be nice at 70. Hope you are able to get out and enjoy the day. Take care and rest as needed.

THINGS ARE JUMPING

Tuesday, April 08, 2014

emoticon
Yesterday I finished my taxes, got them in the envelopes along with the checks.
Since I pay estimated taxes I thought I wouldn't owe on them but God blessed by sending some handfuls on purpose and I had to pay a small amount.
To keep from having a penalty or interest I always pay the same that was due this year so filled out my paper and put down in spaces provided how much and when I was to pay them. Next payment is June the 15th.

Now on to the next problem. I paid my 20% AARP deductible to PT although my friend Brian said they shouldn't have charged it. He is also in Home Health and never charges it until he gets a report back from Medicare. Well I received 2 bills from 2 other doctors which was the 20% (which was $147.00) so I knew I was in big trouble. PT had my money and I had to pay the other two doctors. I had called PT several times but they always said they got theirs in first. Well, I called AARP and they said they had nothing from PT. They asked if I had the receipts. Yes, I did so they told me to send copies of them to the claims department. I called PT and told them so they said, wait, we will call. I wondered but they did and they called back and said they would be sending a check. Now I hope they do.

There is still a lot of office work to be done.

Today I get a perm emoticon

Tomorrow the housecleaner comes. emoticon

Thursday I see my primary doctor. He never sends a summary of blood work but this time he did as he was requiring part of the deductible. I don't understand any of the things he checked. He checked cocaine? Can you imagine why?

I have the statement in my purse and a lot of questions to ask.

Friday is mission work. emoticon

Saturday my little boy whom I am the nana of turns 4 and they are having a party at a pizza place. They have a new little boy about two weeks old and the grandpa wants me to be the nana of him also. The grandpa is widowed.

Then Sunday is church if I have any energy left. emoticon

God will wake me up. He usually wakes me before the alarm goes off.

Then another week. The week can start out with nothing and end up full. How does that happen?

It just takes me longer to do things than it used to. I did go to the Farmer's Market, Sprouts yesterday after all of the other stuff.

UPDATE ON TAXES. WHY I DON'T GO TO A CPA

Sunday, April 06, 2014

Years ago I did go to a CPA and he was a good Christian man and did a good job. emoticon

Then he retired and turned it over to another man in the company but I wasn't pleased with him from the get go. He did ok though the first year, then think he put it in the pool and someone who didn't know what to do did them. emoticon
I returned for the forms, they said I owed more taxes and a penalty and I don't know how much more.

I said that is wrong. I owed nothing. Bringing it back I showed them where they were wrong. Well they did it again then charged me more emoticon
I never went back. I procured the forms they used and did my own taxes following their guidelines.

Each year I pull out the last years tax forms and check to be sure I didn't miss anything.

I used to work for the Internal Revenue in Kansas City, Missouri. I knew what to look for and tried to avoid that.

Be sure you have your social security on it,
Be sure you have your name and address on each form which requires it.
Be sure and sign it. (If someone else does it they have to sign also)
Be sure your mathematics are correct.

Mine aren't as complicated as some but I do get a higher deduction if over 65 or blind.
Also I do have to file expenses because of mission business and a S E form.

I get 1099's. Be sure to add these into your income as they are reported to the Internal Revenue.

Also you will receive statements from any place you might draw interest. These are reported to Internal Revenue and you must report this on a form.

Many have more complicated taxes than I do and some have w2 forms to report besides other things.

Now let's thank God. We do have something or we wouldn't owe taxes. There was a little old man who used to go around with a shopping cart and get in the dumpsters to retrieve cans to sell. He doesn't do that anymore as he would walk in the middle of the street and someone hit him and he died. We don't have to do that.

My roofers are gone, the pounding has stopped and although I was shut in for two days unable to get out I did thank God I had a roof over my head and there is no leak in it. Anyway I hope not.

Have a good SONday all and if you haven't done those taxes get to it. emoticon is running out.

Irene

My MIL was a CPA and use to do our taxes, then my BIL who is an EA did them for while, then we finally started using TurboTax and have had good luck with that. We use the long form and try to get as much as we can and my BIL keeps up to date on the tax laws so we are always informed.

I have a background in accounting and usually do my own taxes. I've heard that every so often, a person should take it to a professional to have it done to make sure it's done the best it can be. So, one year I took it to H & R Block. Like you, we had a business and got 1099's.

The flags went up when the girl told me that I'd have to include the taxes we collected for the state and city had to be included in income. But...I bit my tongue and let her do them. When I went back to get the papers, she was sitting at her desk reading a book. I looked at the papers and just about fell over! It said that we had to pay about $2000.00 more than what we expected! She told me that she tried to call me...yeah, right! I refused to pay them. I took them home, did them myself, and didn't have to pay that $2000.oo after all.

People should be aware of how their taxes are done. Great to remind them.

When I first bought my home, I went to a preparer, but he was nice . He figured it out and told me they would charge more than I was getting back.

When we were first married we went to a CPA to do our taxes. Then for a while I did them, until we bought our house. Once again, we went to the professionals. But after my widowhood, I took it up again - tired of paying others to do it! I've got schedule SE's and C's due to the rent I get from my DD and my small business, and of course I would get charged for each form.

My dad's secretary used to prepare mine -- dad passed away so mom prepared it...mom passed away so my church friend has been preparing it for me....Even though I give her all my receipts she has never used them...I either get back a few pennies or I owe a couple of dollars.....

I am almost done -- working it thru icanfile.com ---- I can't believe where I can itemize -- I have never done that before!

I started out owing but now looks like a will get a little bit back!!! Praise God!!!

I am a CPA but practice in Canada, however I know that most people that come to us could very easily do their own. In fact, I will tell them that and give them the option to complete it themselves. Most don't as they don't feel comfortable doing it themselves, but the option is always there. I feel so sorry for some people as they really can't afford to have professionals do it. But, we look as all of the circumstances and if we know they can't afford it, we never charge them a penny.

God is good. Have a most blessed SON Day, Irene!

I have a service in the States do taxes for me. They are the service that all the International Workers can use so the information from one year to the next is there with them. They send a questionnaire to fill out and I send it to them. It helps since often I have half a year out of the country and as you know, that changes which forms to fill in. I will miss this service once I've retired.

I like your attitude about paying taxes. I'm grateful that I live in this country and I don't mind paying for the privilege.

While some may complain, I think about MY money going toward all those things that government does that I couldn't do for myself.
Defending the country and support for veterans, inspecting our food, keeping our environment cleaner than it used to be, tracking threats to health (NIH) etc. On the state and local level there's the teachers and police that I want to be able to support their families too.

We do our own taxes too.

Tomorrow is emoticon day, a day to feed my Spiritual body.

I finished and printed out the pages but I always check to see if I missed something.
So far missed one little thing. Just a number 1 for dependents.

YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT IS GOING ON

Thursday, April 03, 2014

emoticon This is the week I was going to do taxes but I woke up Monday morning with lots of noise on my roof. They were putting new roofs on all of the condos and THIS HAD TO BE MY WEEK.

Sounded like they were coming clear through the roof. Pound, pound, pound, and everything else they had to do.

I did do some of my income tax but with all of that noise and other things going on it was difficult. I hope they are through.

Monday night I woke up. It was 85 in my house and I was smothering. I got up to check the thermostat but couldn't get it to work.

Then I checked the box and saw the air conditioner thingies were half off so I pushed hard and they came back into place and the a/c came on. I am sure it was from the pounding overhead.

Well Tuesday more pounding. I got up from a nap. Nice sometimes you are almost deaf in one ear, emoticon . I went into the kitchen. A large cup which was my husbands and I had full of pens and pencils had fallen off the fridge. I know it was from the pounding, walking and dropping as these first two days they were putting new tar on.

Wednesday they started putting shingles on and that continued through today. emoticon let it emoticon

TODAY THURSDAY I had an appointment at the surgeons.

Remember I said my primary care doctor said my rib was just bruised but did not even take an x-ray. Well the surgeon told me my rib is fractured. He said all I can do is be patient with the rib and with the knee which is still hurting me. In two months I go back.

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK emoticon WAS THIS A GOOD WEEK TO DO TAXES emoticon especially when I was a year behind in my book work having two surgeries, a major water leak and being in rehab 2 months.

But I am an overcomer. I will heal. I will get better. I will get my taxes done.
I will do all the Lord wants me to do. emoticon

I don't think you were able to concentrate on Taxes!! I hope you can get some peace and quiet in the near future. You have been through so much and done so well. Keep the spirit high and think of all the changes as blessings. Something else could be worse. Thinking of you daily. (Especially the taxes that I too, need to do)

Wow! What bad timing that was. Hope those roofers get done quick! You need to seek a quiet place! A library is a great idea, or maybe you could stay at a friend's until they are done? I lived in a flat roofed house growing up, and the tarring of it always made me sick.
Take care of yourself!

I liked the library suggestion too, but your house seem to call you to make sure there was not more damage being done. Perhaps God could send an angel your way to bring you some QuietComfort® 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones. (Smile, smile)

Yes, Irene , you are an overcomer. This too will pass. They are doing some construction or something in one of the units in my building an I know what you mean about the pounding. Even though it is not right above me I can still hear it. Normally our building is very quiet as we have concrete walls, but pounding and drilling seems to travel.

First and foremost take care of yourself. emoticon

Sorry for all the noise and AC / broken glass......

Maybe you can work on the taxes after construction hours? lol
Of course your head is still probably: pound / pound / pound!

But I know you will get things done!

About your doctor? Shame on him for not diagnosing the problem the first time.

your friend who wants this 90 degrees to disappear.

Or take all your work to a quiet library?
Sorry this all happened the week you are trying to concentrate!!!
How awful!!! That's for sure!!
But where there's a will - there's a way!
I pray your ribs heal quickly too.
Oh at least you shouldn't have a leaky roof when this is all over emoticon
Hugs, Pat

emoticon you will overcome. Can you do taxes at night when contractors aren't working? Or have a tax consultant do it for you?

Hope your rib heals swiftly.

Holly
