Loss of a friend

Wednesday, September 03, 2014

Last night I lost a wonderful friend. She was an inspiration to everyone. Her faith in God was evident daily and she lived life to the fullest. She fought breast cancer for 8 years.

Somehow it still came as a surprise. She was only 66 and looked so healthy. Some people weren't even aware of her illness. She never complained. This proves we do not know what other people are going through. So let us all be kind to one another.

RIP my friend. I will miss you.

Sorry for your loss. She fought a long fight and fought it well. It's hard to lose our friends, especially to something like cancer.

*I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love. ~Leo Buscaglia

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear friend. It seems we are all losing too many too soon and you are so right-never miss the chance to tell those dear to you what they mean to you and that you love them. None of us are promised tomorrow.

Head in the sand

Tuesday, September 02, 2014

I've made excuses and put my head in the sand for too long. Today I will do what I did when I first found SP. I will drink my water, be more active, track my food.

Your re-commitment inspires me! So, my immediate goal is to be here on Spark every, single day, no matter whether I accomplish anything else. Otherwise, it's too easy for me to avoid accountability.

Using my bounty

Monday, February 10, 2014

Today I made an apple pie for DH with my Granny Smith apples from the bountiful baskets. I also used Leeks for the first time in a potato soup. It was very good.

I'm looking forward to next weeks veggies and fruits.

Soup sounds good. I love potato soup. I am not a big fan of pies so I make apple cake instead. Made one a couple weeks ago, we ate a piece and I sent the rest to the pool room guys!

Sound great. We live in an area that doesn't have bountiful baskets but my daughter and granddaughter take advantage of the offers. I am glad you are using all your stuff.

Bountiful Baskets

Friday, February 07, 2014

Well I had a nice surprise tonight. I picked up my first “Bountiful Baskets”. It was all of $15 + $3 handling fee. I didn’t know what to expect of the food. I couldn’t believe how much food there was.

I got 8 bananas, 8 oranges, 16 oz of strawberries, 8 oz of blackberries, 2 grapefruit, a bag and a half of Granny Smith apples, two leeks, 4 zucchini, 3 bunches of romaine lettuce, 3 cucumbers, asparagus and broccoli! The bad thing is now I will have to cook! You never know what you will get. Everyone tells me they love it and it makes them cook things they don’t normally buy. Bob is suggesting an apple pie already!

I have taken my eye off the ball

Friday, January 03, 2014

Yep. I had it right for several months. I went on a two week vacation back in Sept and did well the first week and then my eye started to wander. I never focused again and here it is January.

I did prove several things to myself though.

1) That I need to make it my priority to get it done
2) That even on vacation (week 1) I was able to stay on track
3) That my husband was supportive
4) I felt better.

So it is a new year and a new attitude for me. I need to go back to what I was doing right.

Please join me.

I put a list on my fridge that says "I Matter" and listed all the things I do that make me feel better. Not a "should" list. These are just choices I can make when I have gone astray... and some really great days I do them all. Everything from exercise ten minutes to go outside and breath some fresh air or take my meds on time. emoticon emoticon
