Day 2, No Coffee

Monday, March 07, 2011

Waking up just as fast with no coffee but I sure miss the taste....of the quarter cup of creamer I put in each cup. I'm now looking for the small things that I eat/drink that are probably adding up....coffee was one of them. I believe that that last time I didn't have coffee for a while, I was more energetic in the morning but I don't remember. It was a budget thing sometime last year.
Really achy today. Waiting for pain med to kick in.
Think this might be a good cooking day. Tried a fabulous new recipe Saturday for Shrimp Enchiladas Verde and want to make it again.
Only 320 calories. It made 8 good sized servings in a 9 by 12 pan.
They also have a chili releno recipe that looks interesting I want to try.
Anyway, having a cooking day once or twice a week gives my love of cooking an outlet. I have such a nice selection to choose from and something to grab in the morning to take to work. Only one day off this week so I need to really plan everything.
Lunch with my sister today. Think we will do a power mall walk and maybe hit Applebee's for one of their under 500 calorie meals. They were fabulous the last time I was there.
I better get moving....

I quit coffee a number of years ago and then parenthood "demanded" that I add it back to my life. I remember the headaches . . . all too well. Hang in there, you'll get past them.

P.S. I added you as a friend because I like your blog!

I quit coffee as well. It's hard at first but you will get over it. It took a good month of headaches but now I have much more energy. Caffeine effects me much more now as well. If the cafe screws up and puts caff in my decaf cup, Im wired for days. LOL!!

Must be doing something wrong.

Monthly eval at LA Fitness was such a let down. I had expected big things. I have doubled my workout time. Been portioning out my food. And I lost nothing on my arms , chest, waist and hips. I lost some on my thighs and calves. Possibly, it could be that my trainer did the measuring instead of the director. He may measure differently than she does. I did lose enough for a free training session.
It's been a little over a month since I joined Spark People. Guess I will just keep plugging along. Got to lose 6 more pound before I will get my hair highlighted again (my reward). Might have sad ugly hair for a long time.

My hair might be sad and ugly for a long time because I am struggling with the 4 pounds I want to lose before I get it done again.

Having sad, ugly hair sounds like negative reinforcement to me. Perhaps you should pick some other "reward?" emoticon

Don't be discouraged. Remember the real reward HEALTH! It took me almost a year to lose 5 lbs (yep a year). HOWEVER, I have more energy, my skin looks better, I feel better, my hubby thinks I look great and I actually like to exercise (well, not always). So in the last year, I may have only lost 5 lbs, but, what I gained is priceless. So hang in there GF, you are doing great!

Heat Wave!!!!! I'm energized already!!

Have a day of exercise, cooking and baking. House is already clean (enough) and the little bit of laundry will have to wait till I have money.
Will be throwing stuff in the bread machine shortly for my wheat bran flax potato bread. Creamy Minestrone soup is also on the list.
Making my own menu plans right now with what's available but keep Sparks menu on my list everyday to see what my options might be after payday next Friday. Lots of options I might like that I have never thought of.
Made it to LA Fitness last night in spite of the bitter cold (was so cozy on the sofa). Did an hour upper workout and 20 minutes elliptical. Struggled all day with not snacking. My first challenge was not having a glazed donut as I was setting up the bakery yesterday morning. I almost lost that one. And I was seriously considering Chinese...lots of Chinese...since I was going to be so close when I finished my workout (and don't I a deserve a treat because blah blah blah blah). But by the time I was done, I had mustered up a bit more will power and went home and almost didn't eat at all. Finally decided on a wonderful lettuce wrap with tuna, tomatoes and my ranch dressing.
Also need to figure out my budget and bills for the next week but that shouldn't take too long and there are only 2 bills to pay.
Personal trainer today. . . . . .one of the sessions I have earned by losing inches each month. And I will stay for elliptical after. I ought to swim as well...just for relaxation...will see if I remember my suit.
I am probably over planning this day but there are no "have to" on this list besides the trainer and the bills. I will start there.

Struggling to get out the Door.

Tuesday, February 08, 2011

emoticon So I've started out the day with cream of wheat, bananas, cottage cheese, pineapples, spaghetti and meatballs...all before 7 am. Won't be so bad if I can get to the gym before work. I dread going out in the -20 windchill. I have put on my workout clothes which I have vowed never to wear unless I am going to be working out within the next hour or 2. They are really comfy and I could lounge in them all day. Haven't broken that yet.
It's still only 9:30am. I don't have to be to work till 1:30pm today so there is still plenty of time. Think I will just chill for an hour...my hair is still wet anyway.........

Retirement looks like at least 10 years away for me. I am hoping I can work until 70. And in order to do that, I'm sure I need to take these last 50 off. Been stuck for about 5 years.
Spring can't come soon enough! Looks like over 30 degrees here in Burnsville over the weekend. YAY!

I am so happy to be retired since I generally can set my own schedule. I can't wait for spring!

Back on track! Did about a 40 minute workout this morning...a little of this and a little of that!
Didn't push too hard. It sure felt good. Made an appointment with personal trainer for Friday...and may book for Wednesday as well.
Two more days on these antibiotics and prednesone and I am done with that. I should feel like a new person.
Weather is slightly warmer so that is encouraging. Just had an all over pretty good day!!
