Not The Start I Wanted or Needed For The New Year!!

Well, that nasty disease has caught up with me!! I found out that I'm borderline diabetic!! If there is a such thing!!! To me you either have it or you don't!! Diabetes is heavy in my family on BOTH sides. And everyone in my family has it but 3 of us....well until now! But they say eveyone has a wake up call. I believe I finally have/had mine when I got the call from my doctor!! So, I'm trusting in this low carb/sugar diet to do what it has to do to shake this!! Unlike my sister and brothers....I want to kick it/this for good! I don't have time nor do I want to continue to take meds for the rest of my life!!! In a month my ticker would have made some moves down and NOT up!!! In two months I'm going back to the doctor for more blood work to see if I'm doing ok!! But this "today" is my fresh start to a healthier lifestyle change and New Year!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Heading out on vacation...

Heading out this year on vacation and my mindset is unreal!!! I mean...vacation is vacation and you're supposed to do things that you don't normally do!! Just take a vacation from everything right!!! emoticon Well, not this time around!!! I've promised my trainer that I will workout every day!! In fact my son told her that we would do something every day!! We'll already be at Disney so you would think all the walking would be enough!! NOT!! So, we'll get up and workout before the day start!! I'm pushing myself to just maintain while I'm away but if I lose....I'm cool with that too!!!!

So, this is way different for me and I'm thinking if I see just alittle something, that may be all I need to let me know that I can kick this 100lbs good bye!! That extra push that I need sometimes!!! emoticon

    Have a fantastic vacation! I think you have a great plan to keep yourself active and get your workouts in. I am going on a trip in a couple weeks to visit family. When we looked for a motel, I told my kids that I wanted to stay somewhere with a pool and a fitness room! I want to be sure to keep up with my workouts and not fall prey to the family eating extravaganzas! lol

We all have a turning point which gets us focused to do what we set out to do from day one!! No matter how many times we've started over.....there's that moment that smacks you in the face!!! Well I had that moment yesterday at my cousin's wedding!!! I was just standing on the side of the wall talking to my sister and sister-in-law and my cousin(from out of town) which happens to have everything in place on her.....probably 4 % bodyfat period on her body frame, she walks up to talk to me and we hear this pop!!!! She (we) look down and my heel broke on my shoe!!!!! emoticon I kept talking trying to play it off while looking to see where my heel popped off to!! Well, I had to end up walking around until I left on one heel trying to hide the fact that my heel had came off!!! I was doing nothing but standing there and pop!!! I'm glad it didn't happen at the church or while I was standing in the middle of the floor dancing!!

So, I'M DONE with starting over!! I start today and this is it for me!! Can't keep starting over, cause really....when you say that you set yourself up for hundreds of I'll start over tomorrow and before you know it there's another tomorrow and so on!!! How many tomorrow's do we ( I ) need!!!???? Get it together and just do it!!!! The next time my cousin comes home for a visit or I go visit her......she'll see a thinner me!!! And to be honest I need to see a thinner me!!!

I'll emoticon until I get to where I need/want to be!! NOT GIVING UP THIS TIME!!!

I've been struggling for a long time now!!! I'm really trying to get this thing right and get it right NOW!!! For me I think I've tried it all when it comes to diets!!! First I think my first mistake is calling it a diet!!! Im wondering, what's the best way for me to get going??? Should I start out with the calorie counting OR should I just try the "cold turkey" way and just try to do everything right at once???? (the eating clean with nothing but clean foods and exercise) Now I am working out and I have been trying to eat close to clean but with holidays and all things hadn't worked out for the best with me! Today I put me first and everything else will have to follow..... emoticon emoticon

    a diet is a diet, no matter what you call it. I see lots of people on "a lifestyle change" whom are just dieting - the results are the same - long term weight gain.

Have you thought about giving up dieting all together? Just start making better choices for your health, ie start drinking water, or learn some new nutritious meals etc

    Cold turkey sounds rough and you are probably more likely to gain that weight back. When I started I decided no diet for me. I use SP's food tracker and eat well (I always have-kinda) and watch my portions. Portions is what will hurt. Who knew a portion of spaghetti noodles was so small? That was my problem. Now that I have been eating better and less than I used to I noticed I feel fuller faster and don't worry as much on portion control since I can't eat that much anymore anyways! lol.

But definitely follow the tracker, eat cleaner but still enjoy the good stuff from time to time (If you are a chocolate lover try Skinny Cow's Truffle ice cream bars... SO good! and only 100 calories!) and work out. If you use the trackers on here you WILL lose weight. I started 3.5 months ago and have lost 19 pounds.

Believe it or not......I just woke up!!!! My eyes are wide opened now!! My last blog which was the other day, was about my husband bringing home all my favorites for me to eat for dinner after I had already worked out at the gym!!! Well he has diabetes and has known that for 9 years now. Hasn't changed his diet at all!!!!

Well tonight his sugar levels were dropping and he said he had to eat some carbs. Well, I didn't understand why and I asked him,"your dinner wasn't enough"? He looks at me and said no it wasn't, I didn't have any carbs!! Then told me, thats what's wrong with me why I can't lose any weight!!! I eat TOO MANY CARBS!!! And that I couldn't keep going around saying "using that as an excuse"that I don't understand the whole healthy thing(what to put together for a meal) I'll admit that I've said before that I don't understand what all goes together as in making up the proper meal when dieting! And I don't and I don't think I'm using that as an excuse. I honestly didn't know the break downs of it all....how many carbs or fats or protein that should be in each meal!!!

He pissed me off because if you(he) know so much why in the hell haven't you lost any weight??!!! I have lost some weight and because you said what you said tonight...I'm more determined now to lose more!!!! NOT to eat what you bring home, like tonight coming home with fried chicken asking me do i want to eat some for dinner!?? I'm so glad I told you NO! Yes, you upset me tonight but I'm glad you put your foot in your mouth cause that motivated me in a way you wouldn't believe!!

I thought you were on my side but I see you're not!! You can't tell me one minute you are and the next you're trying to feed me fatty dinners, lunches and what have you!!! And telling me that I'm making excuses up for not loosing the weight!!! So thank you!!! Thank you very much, because right now you're my biggest motivator and you don't even know it!!! emoticon

As far as what to put together...there are many ways to go. I have lost weight with a vegan diet (50+ pounds) but it didn't work well with a family. I lost with Atkins/low carb (50+ pounds), but have not continued that due to egg and dairy sensitivities. Then, I went on a detox (lost 40 pounds) and then an elimination diet (lost 20+ pounds more) to find out what foods I was reacting to. I had dealt with allergies as a teen, but didn't realize they were still causing me to gain weight/fluid.

Now, I am on a dairy free, gluten free, refined sugar free, egg free diet. I had maintained my weight for 4 years or so before having my weight creep up. I thought maybe more allergies, but found that my blood sugar has been high. They have not said diabetic, but I can't seem to get the weight off even though I eat a really healthful diet. I eat meat, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, wild rice and rice. I don't eat much rice and I do eat a lot of fish. I also use olive oil for everyone in my home. I am exercising and eating well and the weight won't come off. I think the hyperglycemia really messes up the body. I will find more about that when I see the endocrinologist.

I am really fighting a battle this time.
