I am so proud of myself today. Yesterday, my heel spurs flared up again after 20 minutes on the treadmill (just a moderate walk as I am still getting accustomed to getting fit); I guess I am still too heavy for walking. From how much my heels hurt after my workout, I knew that I would be sore for a couple of months and I'll need a few more months to heal completely. My heels are on ice as we speak! I guess my treadmill will get a rest for a while. I was a little put off because I feel I'm getting more out of the treadmill (a lot more sweating) than I get on my old stationary bike.
My workout routine is every second day, I do three exercises each for upper, core (easy ones - LOL) and lower body strength, followed by stretching exercises for the muscles I just worked on. Then I do a 20 minutes cardio followed by whole body stretching exercises (neck, torso, obliques, etc.) I decided to give it another try by modifying them so I can do most of them either seated or lying down. And tonight, I'll be going through the many other exercises on the "advanced" side and pick a few new ones to replace the exercises I used to do standing. I just got the balance or Swiss ball the other day (perhaps a premonition!) so I'll try that and see how it works.
I am sharing this with you because the old me would have just given up and felt sorry for myself. Not now! Thanks to the tools that SparkPeople have made available free to us all, this new me is going to take advantage of it to return to a healthy and active lifestyle. I feel great!
