Snow Day!!

Lots and Lots and Lots of snow! spent about 45 minutes outside shoveling today, mostly the stairs and walkway, and maybe 1 parking spot. I have a nice neighbor who snowblows, but not until the storm is mostly done, so I thought I'd clear a path to get in and out of the car for my daycare client that was here today. That doubled as my exercise today, although I intended on doing some yoga with the kids. We just ran out of time. Being outside, I forgot to eat lunch (tsk tsk). My daughter made soup for herself and our little friend. I'm sure I'll get plenty of outside time tomorrow, pulling kids in the sled....and I'll remember lunch!

Last night, after work I decided to go to the local Y, where I have a family mmbership which we have hardly used. My plan was to take the aqua fit class, but didn't get out of work on time, so, my mom, daughter, and her friend did the family swim time instead! I have to say, we all really enjoyed it. I swam laps until i was too tired, took a break, and started again. I also did some water aerobics Ihad learned from a previous class. It felt great! I can feel it today, but it's good! I think it was a good first step to getting back into the gym. It helps to know that I can exercise and spend time with my daughter at the same time, and not have to worry about finding a babysitter (which I hardly ever do)! I am hoping to be able to make it in to the Y at least once or twice per week. maybe sign my daughter up for lessons, and I can try the workout area. Maybe using the indoor track occasionally too!

    Those indoor tracks are nice and you are lucky to have one available. I'm sure your daughter likes the idea of spending time with her Mom too. Keep up the good work.

New Start...

Well, today was the first day of my new start. Didn't do too well in the nutrition department- ate a slice of pizza in the car while running errands, leftover apple pie at my mom's house, a few Hershey's Kisses. Now- leftover tuna casserole for dinner. At least the tuna casserole is made with Whole Grain egg noodles- Baby steps... On another note, I did go to the grocery store today, and made it out with NO junk food! Just bottled water, skim milk, and pears!

I did do some cardio today, and am planning on doing some more on wii fit plus later....It's the strength I have a hard time with-It's painful!! But- no pain, no gain, right??? Maybe I'll do a little strength later too...

    The "pain" is just referring to the soreness. I need to get into a routine.I have been so bad at sticking to it that when I do get around to it, I overdo it, then give up. Maybe if I just start slow and work my way up to more reps...Don't really know how much to do. Any recommendations?

    I agree with RH that if your in pain something is wrong. The "no pain, no gain" isn't correct. Yes, a little SORE is something we experience and expected, but pain, no.

As far as eating the way you did today, well hey tomorrow is another day. I had cake today, but other than that ate well. It's Ok, I am not going to beat myself up. Normally I allow the calories into my day, but not today. So tomorrow please just restart your day. Do you keep snacks nearby you can quickly grab so this doesn't happen? And quick to grab meals to take with you? On SP There are a lot of suggestions you can get for this.

    Welcome to SP!! Don't try to change it all at once it can become a bit overwhelming. Take advantage of the Spark Diet stages it will help keep you motivated by setting up little goals.

    Oh yeah, and did I mention- no soda today? That's HUGE for me- a diet Pepsi/Coke addict. I'm gonna make some Crystal Light and keep some in the fridge at all times, and maybe pre-fill a water bottle so I can grab it and go on busy evenings! emoticon

    Welcome to SparkPeople! Good for you for taking positive steps.

I'm a little concerned that you said that strength training is painful. A little achiness is ok, but you shouldn't be in pain. Make sure you're not using too much weight, and maybe consider getting help from a trainer (if you can afford to) to get help with form.
