Into the Twos

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

I finally did it. I'm finally out of the 300's. It may not seem much to anyone else but to me I have achieved the unthinkable. At least that is where my mind set used to be.

Now I believe I have the power within myself to reach the Ones as well.

My affirmation
"I have the power within my to create magnificence."

The Best Way To Lose Weight And Create Permanent Fat Loss

The best way to lose weight is by taking small, consistent steps toward creating your ideal body fat percentage, and to do this on a daily basis! Your goal should be to lose from one to two pounds per week! It is to your advantage not to attempt to lose more!

Trying to lose too much weight, too fast -- is one of the biggest mistakes most dieters are making. If you do everything that I recommend in this article, these 1-2 pounds will be burned off from your current body fat, not the water or the muscle that are part of your lean body mass.

The loss of your muscle will always slow down the metabolism, and decrease your daily calories expenditure. This is why I recommend that you do not try to lose more than 2 pounds per week.

One thing to remember is that fast and quick weight loss always comes from losing a lot of muscle and water, and very little body fat! While long term effective weight loss, can only be accomplished when you lose mostly body fat, while doing everything possible to maintain your muscle!

The first four weeks the weight loss can be more, due to water fluctuations. But after that it will stabilize, and losing the 1-2 pounds of body fat per week, should be your main goal!
The best way to lose weight is to start with goal setting

Before actually starting your weight loss program, it is a very good idea to create a goal setting chart for yourself.Write down what you want to achieve, and also write down where you are right now. When you have your major health goal and your current reality written down, it will be much easier to choose the most effective steps toward your goal!

Once you have this goal chart created, the next step will be--to understand which body type you were born with. This without a doubt, is the *most* important distinctions that you can make to create the right nutrition and exercise strategies in your program, and to create the body of your dream!

The best way to lose weight, is by taking into account the physiological characteristics that you were born with.
Creating your weekly chart and doing calculations

The next step will be to create your weekly weight loss chart, and do your body composition calculations. Taking these two steps, is very, very, very important.

The reason that this is so important is because using these numbers, you will make your total daily energy expenditure calculations and your nutrient ratio calculations.

These calculations will help you to create an individual nutrition plan suited for your body type--and will help you reach your ideal body weight in the shortest amount of time. The best way to lose weight--is to make sure that you actually create your weekly weight loss chart and do your calculations on a weekly basis.

This is part of tracking your current reality. Using your weekly chart is what eventually will lead you to success, and will make sure that you maintain that success for life!

Without actually working on your weekly weight loss chart on a weekly basis--you will only be guessing and not tracking your current reality! And without tracking your current reality on a weekly basis, you lower your chances of producing long term weight loss term results!
Always count your daily calorie intake

Calculating your daily calorie intake is another element that will make the biggest difference in the results produced by you! The reason for this is simple, no matter what you do, you can never override the law of energy (calorie) balance -- which is very simple -- if you consume more calories than you burn during the day, the surplus will be converted to body fat.

So, the best way to lose weight, is to burn more calories than you consume, every day of your weight loss program. Of course this is almost impossible to do every day of your life, for many reasons. The first is that we are all human, and sometimes we will have cheat meals, and holidays, and birthday parties, etc.

But what I want you to know, the more days you finish with a calorie deficit--the faster you will become a proud owner of a lean, healthy body!
The step after counting calorie intakes

Once you do the calorie calculations, the next step will be to design your exercise strategy. This will include the exercises that you will start with, plus when and how you will do them.

My suggestion is not to start out with anything that can be considered extreme! Taking small steps is always the best way to lose weight permanently. In the beginning simply eat a little less and work out a little more!

And make adjustments to your program, only when your weekly weight loss chart shows that weight loss is slowing down!
The best way to lose weight is to always pay attention to the results in your weekly weight loss chart

With time you will start to develop an understanding about which food and exercise strategy is right for you.

Since every person is unique, you will have to choose the exact steps that will reflect your uniqueness and are based on what works for you, not what someone else considers to be right.

Of course you always will have to take into account the basics and fundamentals of exercise and nutrition. But, when it is all said and done, end results are what really count!

Nothing else is as important as tracking your current reality on a daily basis, and adjusting your actions based on the results you are getting from your eating plan, your cardio exercises and your weight training!

This is really the best way to lose weight in the long term!

The exact steps that you will take on a daily basis should always be written in your major goal chart! Once you complete it, you will always know exactly what your next step is in your personal weight loss journey!

3 Surprising Reasons to Give Up Soda

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

Higher cholesterol, hidden fats and an expanding waistline are just a few of the reasons to say no to soda

America has a drinking problem. No, not booze. I'm talking about soft drinks. According to the Beverage Marketing Corporation, the average American guzzles 44.7 gallons of the sweet stuff every year. Not sure what 44.7 gallons looks like? It's about what you'd need to fill a small kiddie pool.

But the truth is, you don't need me to tell you that soda isn't healthy. We all know that America's drink of choice contributes to our country's ever-expanding obesity problem. But, as Rodale.com writer Leah Zerbe discovered, love handles are just the beginning. Read on for her report on three shocking soda facts that will have you saying, "Just water, please," from now on.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Shocking Soda Fact #1: Soda Fattens Up Organs

A recent Danish study revealed that drinking non-diet soda leads to dramatic increases in dangerous hard-to-detect fats. Researchers asked participants to drink either regular soda, milk containing the same amount of calories as regular soda, diet cola, or water every day for six months. The results? Total fat mass remained the same across all beverage-consuming groups, but regular-soda drinkers experienced dramatic increases in harmful hidden fats, including liver fat and skeletal fat. The regular-soda group also experienced an 11 percent increase in cholesterol compared to the other groups! And don't think switching to diet varieties will save you from harm: Artificial sweeteners and food dyes have been linked to brain cell damage and hyperactivity, and research has shown that people who drink diet soda have a higher risk of developing diabetes.

TOXIC "WAIST": Processed foods have long been implicated in the obesity epidemic, and there's a growing body of evidence to suggest they might also be responsible for cancers, respiratory issues, and behavioral disorders.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Shocking Soda Fact #2: Soda Contains Flame Retardants

Some popular soda brands, including Mountain Dew, use brominated vegetable oil-a toxic flame retardant-to keep the artificial flavoring from separating from the rest of the liquid. This hazardous ingredient-sometimes listed as BVO on soda and sports drinks-can cause bromide poisoning symptoms like skin lesions and memory loss, as well as nerve disorders. If that's not a good enough reason not to "Do the Dew," I don't know what is.

DRINK DISASTERS: Soda isn't the only dubious drink you have to watch out for. Many bottled beverages pack enough sugar and calories to foil your get-fit plans in one fell sip
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Shocking Soda Fact #3: Drinking Soda Makes You a Lab Rat

Many American soda brands are sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup, a heart-harming man-made compound derived mainly from genetically engineered corn. The problem? Genetically engineered ingredients have only been in our food chain since the 1990s, and we don't know their long-term health impacts because the corporations that developed the crops never had to test them for long-term safety. Case in point: Some recent findings suggest that genetically engineered crops are linked to digestive tract damage, accelerated aging, and even infertility!

These are pretty interesting facts. The article was found on MSN on 3/13/2012

Personal Boot Camp

Monday, March 12, 2012

When men and women join the military, they must go through an intensive training process known as boot camp. The purpose of boot camp is to transform an individual in a physical, emotional, and mental way. This transformation process begins as soon as the recruits step from the bus onto the grounds of the boot camp. The training seems almost cruel at times as people are pushed to their limits and then pushed further.

One of the underlying objectives is to force the recruits to develop discipline. Initially, the discipline is external in the form of a drill sergeant, or instructor, who barks out orders, dishes out discipline for the non-compliant recruit, and pushes all of the men and women to go further than they thought it was possible to go.

At the end of several intense weeks, previously undisciplined people have been changed into disciplined teams (troops). The intensity of the training is designed to break old habits and thought patterns and instill new ones. Many times, the change in the young men and women is astonishing as they appear more confident, mature, and disciplined.

What if there was a civilian or personal boot camp that would challenge and change our patterns of behavior, thoughts, and actions? Imagine getting into mental, physical, and emotional shape in six weeks. But then, would we want someone yelling at us to break down our defense mechanisms, to push us further than we would push ourselves?

Would it be necessary to have someone yell at us to force us to make changes? Do we have the strength to make those changes on our own? What is lacking? It is the discipline to just do it! The word discipline carries with it a negative connotation, as it is usually associated with the word "punishment" as in, "she must be disciplined for her actions."

Discipline implies control and it can come from outside of us, through others such as parents, bosses, authority figures, or drill sergeants. It can also come from within, as we make a commitment to ourselves to take a certain action or to refrain from engaging in non-productive behaviors. The results from internally imposed discipline can be so power-filled as we enjoy our successes.

I challenge you to decide what you would like to be, have, or do and establish your own boot camp routine. Upon successful completion of your program, invite me to your graduation.

Affirmation for the Week:

"I am in charge of my body, mind, and emotions. Through my internal discipline, I achieve the success that I desire."

Have a disciplined week!

I really needed that inspiration this morning. I am reel when authority is thrown at me...always sure that somebody is trying to control me! I just finished with a two month challenge to myself (JAN-FEB) to exercise 5 times a week. I have noted the changes in my body and am so thrilled! I am going to keep on challenge myself, putting myself through a boot camp if you will, and keep on changing myself, my mind, my body, my spirit...

1. Gold Treatment - Cost approximately $550

Taking luxe to a whole new level, this 24-karat facial (see at-home alternatives here) firms skin and reduces wrinkles, while leaving you with a golden glow—naturally.

2. Ice, Ice Baby - Cost $40 a treatment

Get ready for a deep freeze with this cold sauna cryotherapy treatment (in minus 110 degrees Celsius). The chilly experience is said to help with inflammation, improve joint and muscle function and reduce and relieve skin irritation.

3. Steam Clean - $50 for30 min treatment

In Santa Monica, Calif., Tikkun Holistic Spa offers a soothing treatment for your nether regions. Based on an ancient Korean treatment, the spa's V-Steam is said to reduce stress, regulate periods and boost fertility.

4. Dropping In - $180 for 60 min treatment

Geisha girls had fabulous skin partly due to a centuries-old secret topical called "uguisu no fun" (you won't believe what this is - bird droppings). Now that the word is out, it may be time to toss the old exfoliator and brighten your complexion the seriously old-fashioned way.

5. Smooth Moves - $ 75.00 a tube

New Yorkers looking for the latest anti-aging fix turned to a Townhouse Spa's facial with Spermine, an antioxidant made from synthesized human (ick, you guessed it) sperm. While the NY hotspot no longer offers the facial, die-hard devotees have tracked down this product, which contains the exclusive ingredient at Harvey Nichols in the UK.

6. Whip It - $225 a treatment

In the Ancient Cane Ritual treatment, raw sugar cane juice is combined with crystals and creamy oil to exfoliate and deeply moisturize. The massage also uses bamboo reeds (see pics) during a drumming, tapping and rolling session, meant to rebalance the body’s energy flow.

7. Firm Offer - $85 for 45 min

In this specialty treatment, botanicals and essential oils are used to firm up that particular part of our bodies that often goes south first. This "breast facial" (it's also called this - Algea) exfoliates and is designed to help remove lymphatic congestion (is a drainage network of fluid, organs and vessels that is responsible for the removal of cellular debris, large proteins, foreign bodies).

8. Couple's Retreat - $180 for 2 hours

If you and your special someone are looking for something relaxing and romantic, a couple's massage atop a Venetian-style gondola should definitely be on your "to do" list. Champagne and strawberries are included in the journey.

3 simple Ways To challenge Yourself To Lose Weight

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Everyone knows that weight loss is all about modifying your lifestyle habits if you are to succeed at losing weight . Like healthy living, healthy weight loss requires a lifestyle. What many don't realize that healthy weight loss cannot be done overnight! If you try to make significant changes in your lifestyle within a very short time, chances are that you will only be frustrated and disappointed with your weight loss efforts.

Also, there is more to healthy weight loss than just diet and exercise. In this article I will take you beyond the world of strict diets and rigorous exercise routines so you will be prepared for the challenge that lies ahead!

emoticonAvoid self-procrastinating thoughts:

Self-procrastinating thoughts will do you more harm than fake diet pills. Just imagine, if you always think that you cannot do the things you need to do in order to lose weight, how can you ever achieve your weight loss goals? If you think that you cannot do sit-ups and push-ups, you are probably jumping to conclusions and being too self-analytical even before you have tried these workouts!

If you think that doing thirty push-ups is overwhelming for you, start small. Start with 10 push-ups, and thank yourself once you have done it successfully! Then try to add one or two extra push-ups every day to your routine until you reach your target of thirty. You see, when you start small, it becomes much easier to reach your weight loss goals!

Instead of thinking too much, just take action and DO it! The amount of time you spend on thinking and criticizing yourself, you may as well as spend it on some exercise. While the former will do you no good, the latter will help you burn fat and lose weight!

emoticonGet support:

Proper support is essential in order to keep you determined and motivated. Without support, you won't be able to lose weight successfully. That is why it is essential that you enlist the support of your friends and family who understand you and support your goals. It is also essential that you choose a weight loss program which offers support to its members in the form of a support group or forum. In a forum, you will get support and tips from your peers and experts alike!

Surround yourself with supportive people and stay away from the negative people who can only find faults with you!

emoticonGet rid of temptations:

Unless you learn to control your temptations, you won't be able to lose weight successfully. One overwhelming temptation most people suffer from is that of food. Whenever you are tempted to eat, do something that would distract you from the thought of food. You can do anything such as dancing, driving, walking around your house, doing some sit-ups, or drinking a glass of water. All of these things will help keep yourself away from the continuous food cravings!

If you follow these tips there is no reason why you won't be able to lose weight! Remember that you can achieve whatever you believe in your mind. If you believe you can lose weight, you WILL! It does sound cliché but is very much true!

Ran across this article this morning at articlesbase. Don't forget to be good to yourself along your journey to a healthier you. Reward yourself regularly. I don't mean with food. I mean with things you have been wanting but didn't think you could afford it. A trip, a piece of jewelery, etc. You are a priceless commodity. Treat yourself as such. emoticon Donna
