Dogs and floor exercises

Friday, January 07, 2011

Yesterday on Day #5 of the 28 Day Bootcamp Challenge the exercises were for the lower body and involved doing them on the floor. My rat terrier, Mattie, thinks if you get on the floor it is strictly for playing with her. So there I was on my side doing leg lifts as Nicole was instructing and she comes over and sits 6 inches from my face and just stares as if saying, "what in the world are you doing?" After a good laugh and throwing a toy in the other room for her to go get, I continued on with the exercises.

Lesson learned: Do the Challenge exercises and be in another room from Mattie. I can play with her later. Below is a picture of her sweet face.

Cats don't do that. When I do yoga on the floor my cats come over and show off how they can do it soooo much better!!

My kitties fell the same way about the floor exercises except they think they should stand on me while I am doing them. When I shut them out they stand on the other side of the door and scratch and meow. I feel very loved if some what frustrated by them. emoticon

Day #4 of 28 Day Bootcamp Challenge

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

Just finished my video and exercises. Feel great!! Now downstairs and onto the treadmill for cardio workout. I need to finish the last CD of the book-on-tape so I can return it to the library tomorrow.

The only problem I am having with the videos is my balance is not good (age and medication I require probably do not help), but I am trying to do my best.

To everyone else on this challenge....Keep sparkin on!! emoticon emoticon

I think you will see an improvement in your balance. That is one of the things I see and continue to work on. What I see in "older people" is loss of balance that contributes to falls and unsteadiness, so my goals is to be more stable. I do really try to work on core which helps that. We can do this. I just started Monday and I found the workout video challenging. I haven't been able to do jumping jacks for a LONG time but I just keep moving. Great going, Deanna!! We are doing this!!

Jumping Candy Bars

Tuesday, January 04, 2011

You have never heard of jumping candy bars? No, I do not mean jumping beans (and if you are too young to know what a jumping bean is, ask someone older). Every time I would get in a checkout line for groceries, etc. , candy bars "jumped" into my cart to go home with me. Now at least 1 of these jumping candy bars never made it home because it was devoured on the drive home.

Since I have joined SP, I never leave the house hungry (eat an apple, drink more water). I try to have "blinders" when stuck in a slow line as they always have the high calorie candy bars right next to your shopping cart just ready to jump. Keep a sharp eye out for the "jumpers" and do not let them win!

I still have the occasional taste of something chocolate (like in my Trail Mix), but I do not indulge myself like I used to. I am enjoying seeing my body size change for the better, feel better about myself keeping away from so much sugar, and realizing the old saying "once on the lips, forever on the hips" is soooooooooo true.

In parting today I leave you with the following to think about:

From this moment forward…I stop the blame game and excuses. I am responsible for my life and for where I am today. I cannot blame the people and circumstances in my past, and I refuse to hide behind my past mistakes.

Yes, I remember jumping beans!! LOL !! We use to go to the "5 and dime" Ben Franklin store on Saturday (my older sister who was 11 years older than me and 9 yo than my sister would take us when we were like 3/5yos. We would get 1, 2, 3 or 5 cent candies. We would be very careful not to splurge on the 5 cent ones!! Those were like the vampire teeth :) LOL and after we spent our quarter!! we would go across the street to the drug store and buy a 10 cent pop from the vending machine LOL! Those were the days!!

"Slack in the Jeans"

Friday, December 31, 2010

My DH commented on my jeans yesterday and said, "you've got some slack in those jeans!"
They really "bag" on me now.

What a motivating statement for me! I have 3 more pair in the closet that are still too small to wear and I am determined to get into them in January. Besides, I have no money to buy new ones. emoticon

This morning I joined the Official 28 Day Bootcamp Workout Challenge and will start on this as soon as I get an e-mail about it. Wish me luck!

Happy New Year everyone and SP works, so stay with the program!!

Way to go! What a cool way to start 2011. With no money for new jeans, you've got two more waiting for you. I have a 10-yr. old great 3-pc. suit waiting for me. AND some jeans! Haven't joined the challenge yet; maybe I need to do that.

Onward to 2011

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

Saturday will be the 1st day of 2011. Where did the time go? I think as you get older it "flies by" even faster. Now it is time to review our goals and plans. Some of mine include losing more weight, more exercise time, eating more fresh fruits and vegetables and trying to get more sleep (I currently sleep about 6 hrs. a night..or less).

Today (after talking to one of my Spark Friends as she has had such good results with the DVD), I ordered one of Leslie Sansone's DVDs. I currently walk on my treadmill and think this will be a good variation of walking for me at home. I just hope I can keep up. emoticon

I did a lot of cooking this past week (and some overindulging) and am just lucky to have stayed the same weight. This also makes me wonder what I would have lost had I stayed closer to my caloric range! emoticon

Keep on Sparking and good luck to everyone in 2011!!
