AN OLD FARMER'S WORDS OF WISDOM

Thursday, November 03, 2011

“Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.”

“A hornet is considerably faster than a tractor.”

“Words that soak into your ears are whispered…....not yelled.”

“Meanness don't just happen overnight.”

“Forgive your enemies; it messes up their heads.”

“Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.”

“It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge.”

“You cannot unsay a cruel word.”

“Every path has a few puddles.”

“When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.”

“The best sermons are lived, not preached.”

“Most of the stuff people worry about, ain't never gonna happen anyway.”

“Don't judge folks by their relatives.

“Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.”

“Live a good and honorable life, then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.”

“Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't bothering you none.”

“Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.”

“If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'.”

“Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.

“The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin'.”

“Always drink upstream from the herd.”

“Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.”

“Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in.”

“If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around.”

“Live simply, love generously, care deeply,
Speak kindly, and leave the rest to God.”

“Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.”

THANK YOU.....THANK YOU.....THANK YOU!!

Monday, October 24, 2011

After my blog yesterday (Time to regroup..I am not a happy camper), I got quite a few comments & even some Spark Goodies!! I really wrote the blog for myself.....to see in print my problems & work them out.

I heard from some Spark Friends & from some Spark people I did not even know. That is one reason why I love SP.....we all encourage & motivate each other!

I am filled with a renewed attitude towards my goals & how to get there. I spent 30 minutes on my treadmill this morning, have eaten correctly for breakfast & lunch & reviewed a few pages in "The Spark" book.

Good luck to everyone on their Spark Journey! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I agree with Dazzle; I'm convinced the process/the journey from unhealthier decisions to healthier decisions. I am not there yet but I am so much further than a year ago; than 2 years ago. Do I always make 'the best" decision; of course not but the per cent is going up!! And I am handling it better when I mess up, not letting it ruin my progress!!
And of course being successful for the day has put you AHEAD!! Plus it's what SPeople do best helping encourage and support!! You're on the winning team!!

I guess I have come to the realization, that it is not about the numbers, just as it's not about the destination, but more about the journey. Re-trace, re-track, re-balance.
For me, that is ok, I am just where I am suppose to be, and so are you. You are doing great, just look at how far you've come, and all the improvements you have made to a healthly...er you! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sounds like you're getting things on track. As I always say...once more with feeling! Today seems like I had a better handle on things, too. Don't know what got into me last week, but...bummer as far as exercise. Guess we just go through those phases now-and-then.

TIME TO REGROUP...( I AM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER)

Sunday, October 23, 2011

I have managed to gain 4 pounds. At my age (69) cannot blame it on hormones. emoticon. I would like to lose 15-20 more pounds (in addition to losing these 4)!

I know my problems: Spending too much time on the computer (slow satellite at times is not like having DSL), putting exercising at the bottom of the "to do" list & then not having time to do it (have not been on the treadmill at all this week), a couple of bites more of this & that (not measuring food), not doing ST & I need this.

So starting tomorrow will rearrange my schedule & get things started! Wish me luck!!

Spark on everyone!

P.S. Forgot to mention that I plan to go back & reread "The Spark".......especially the areas that I highlighted when I 1st read it one year ago!

Good morning. Getting back to re-reading the Spark will most likely motivate you once more. I set my alarm clock 1/2 hr early. I do at least 1/2 hour on either my Gazelle or recumbent bike in the morning. No excuses and that way I know I at least get 30 min a day. You can do this.. rearranging is sometimes a good thing.. no I take it back, it's a GREAT thing... Hugs.. Donna

I have just started thinking about the same thing
this week. Way too much time on SP, and not
enough time to do all the other things on my
list. Of course, exercise is always at the bottom,
and gets missed. I do walk lots but I haven't
gotten back onto my treadmill for months. I
hope to change that this week. Best Wishes
to both of us.

I can identify with you. I go in spurts but I have not been making real progress because I have not been consistent. I am trying really hard. I walk down the street to the rec center to use the treadmill but then I have been missing my other exercises at home.
Good luck to you. I'll try to set a good example

A Nun Grading Papers.....

Can you imagine the Nun sitting at her desk grading these papers, all the while trying to keep a straight face and maintain her composure! (I know I couldn't!)

PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THE WORDING AND SPELLING. IF YOU KNOW THE BIBLE EVEN A LITTLE, YOU'LL FIND THIS HILARIOUS! IT COMES FROM A CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEST.

KIDS WERE ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS. THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS ABOUT THE BIBLE WERE WRITTEN BY CHILDREN. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN RETOUCHED OR CORRECTED. INCORRECT SPELLING HAS BEEN LEFT IN.

1. IN THE FIRST BOOK OF THE BIBLE, GUINESSIS, GOD GOT TIRED OF CREATING THE WORLD SO HE TOOK THE SABBATH OFF.

2. ADAM AND EVE WERE CREATED FROM AN APPLE TREE. NOAH'S WIFE WAS JOAN OF ARK. NOAH BUILT AN ARK AND THE ANIMALS CAME ON IN PEARS.

9. THE FIRST COMMANDMENT WAS WHEN EVE TOLD ADAM TO EAT THE APPLE.

10. THE SEVENTH COMMANDMENT IS THOU SHALT NOT ADMIT ADULTERY.

11. MOSES DIED BEFORE HE EVER REACHED CANADA. THEN JOSHUA LED THE HEBREWS IN THE BATTLE OF GERITOL.

12. THE GREATEST MIRICLE IN THE BIBLE IS WHEN JOSHUA TOLD HIS SON TO STAND STILL AND HE OBEYED HIM.

13. DAVID WAS A HEBREW KING WHO WAS SKILLED AT PLAYING THE LIAR. HE FOUGHT THE FINKELSTEINS, A RACE OF PEOPLE WHO LIVED IN BIBLICAL TIMES.

14. SOLOMON, ONE OF DAVID'S SONS, HAD 300 WIVES AND 700 PORCUPINES.

15. WHEN MARY HEARD SHE WAS THE MOTHER OF JESUS, SHE SANG THE MAGNA CARTA.

16. WHEN THE THREE WISE GUYS FROM THE EAST SIDE ARRIVED THEY FOUND JESUS IN THE MANAGER.

17. JESUS WAS BORN BECAUSE MARY HAD AN IMMACULATE CONTRAPTION.

18. ST. JOHN, THE BLACKSMITH, DUMPED WATER ON HIS HEAD.

19. JESUS ENUNCIATED THE GOLDEN RULE, WHICH SAYS TO DO UNTO OTHERS BEFORE THEY DO ONE TO YOU. HE ALSO EXPLAINED A MAN DOTH NOT LIVE BY SWEAT ALONE.
