Monday Morning Choices

Monday, March 28, 2011

One's philosophy is not best expressed in words; it's expressed in the choices one makes. In the long run we shape our lives and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility.

~Eleanor Roosevelt

Make good choices today on nutrition, fitness, and feeling good about yourself!! I am!

Thanks for sharing. I'm a big fan of Eleanor Roosevelt's quotes. My favorites are:

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

"In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility."

I really appreciated and needed to read those words this morning. I copied the quote to carry with me today. Reading it gives me strength of my convictions. Thanks.

Week 4 of training for the 5 K.....completed

Saturday, March 26, 2011

I finished week 4 today with a 2-3/4 mile walk on my treadmill (sweat and all). emoticon

I had to do a little juggling to get it all in this week since DH and I had several doctor's appointments (all but 1 were out of town).

Next week is the final week for me. On Monday I walk 40 minutes, Wednesday I walk 30 and on Friday walk the 5 K (3.1 miles). In case you did not know it, Friday is 04/01/11.....April Fools Day! Hope I am not a "fool" for doing this. It has been hard at times, but rewarding just knowing I can accomplish this.

Last week...... Here I come!!

That is exciting. I'm training for a run on May 1st and also wonder how it's going to go. Anyway, I'm sure you'll have a great time on Friday. emoticon

Take a satisfaction break. Make a list of the accomplishments you are proudest of, and then read over your list and appreciate yourself for all your hard work. You've done a lot, so celebrate already!

~M.J. Ryan

We all need to do this occasionally. Pat yourself on the back for staying within your caloric range, doing your exercises, logging on and reading Spark articles, keeping in touch with Spark friends, for feeling and looking better, for being able to wear smaller clothes, etc.

You get the idea! Try it! You will like it!

I actually do this for myself periodically as a reminder of how far I've come! It's very reaffirming! And helps to strengthen my resolve!

Thanks! emoticon

What a great idea!!! I'm never satisfied with what I'm doing right and I'm always beating myself up for what I'm doing wrong. I need to stop and take a "satisfaction break"!!!

So true. We don't hesitate to be unhappy w/self when we do not meet the goals we've made or how we want to be; but we do not praise or reward self even by visual pats on back for having a great or even so-so day. Thanks for reminder! emoticon

Who is that woman in the mirror wearing baggy clothes?

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Hey, that's me!!

Sunday morning I stayed on SP too long and had to hurry to dress for church. What I had decided to wear was too baggy, but I did not have time to try on anything else so I wore it. Will wash this outfit (and others too big for me now) and box to give to our "clothing room" where they help people who need clothes but have no money to buy them.

Sunday night I got in the back of my closet and found 6 pairs of pants (all size 14) in various colors and tried them on. They all fit!! emoticon I washed them this morning and will put them in the closet where I can get to them. How exciting!

Thank you SP for helping get move towards my goal. I think all this walking is doing me the most good in slimming me down (eating right helps, too).

Hope everyone has a Spark-filled day! I just finished my 2 1/2 mile walk (in week 4 of training for the 5K).

    emoticon Good for you!

I also got up late for church on Sunday and threw on a dress....had to put a belt with it and a jacket because it was a 2X........probably won't wear it again........but I got one more wear out of it!

We have worked SO HARD to get here..........and I've been fighting a doughnut or chocolate chip cookie binge for days now. Have to keep telling myself - it's not worth it after a year of working toward my goal. Hugs........vista

Week 3 of training for 5 K......done

Saturday, March 19, 2011

I managed to finish this week okay. Monday's 30 minute walk went fine.

Wednesday I had no problem with the 2 miles in the morning.

Friday I had to wait until the afternoon to do the 2 -1/4 mile walk and this was a mistake. I finished it, but it took longer. I do not have the energy in the PM that I have in the mornings. We were waiting for a friend to come and pick up our broken riding lawn mower in his trailer because we do not have one big enough. He was very late and when he left it was lunch time He took it to the repair shop for us.

Guess this is not too bad for a 68-year-old woman!!

Anyway, week 4 here I come!!
