LESS IS MORE (Old Swedish Proverb)

Fear less, hope more; Eat less, chew more; Whine less, breathe more; Talk less, say more; Love more, and all good things will be yours.

6 month SparkVersary and progress so far

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Monday was my 6 month SparkVersary and I am still here. emoticon

Am I satisfied with my progress so far? Yes and no. Yes, I do feel better, look better, have better BP, glucose levels and can wear smaller clothes. This is emoticon! However, I do not think losing 22 pounds over 6 months is that great and I would have liked it to be more. I still have a long way to go towards my total goal of 50 pounds lost by 08/13/2011.

I did lose a total of 3 inches since last month's measuring, but the scale has been stuck on the same number for that month. I think the extra walking is slimming me down, but a move on that emoticon would also be motivating.

I regret that I did not measure when I first started SP so I could really note the change, although I can in my clothes that no longer fit!

I am in week 3 of training for the 5 K Virtual Walk next month (train 3 days for this) and walk 3 days with Leslie (3 miles each time) and Sunday is my rest day. I also do some strength training 3 days a week and keep to the low side of my caloric range on my nutrition page.

I would be open to any suggestions that anyone might have to help me get the emoticon moving again.

Have a good day fellow Sparkers!!

emoticon I think you're doing great! The first 8 months I belonged to SparkPeople I actually gained weight and it's only been since the first of the year that I've became really focused and have lost 10 pounds. Keep up the good work! emoticon

I agree with the others, 22 pounds in 6 months is good and I sure would welcome that! I've only been on Spark less than 2 months and hope that when I hit 6, I've lost 22 pounds. I am stuck at 10 and actually gained back 2 pounds being sick, if you can believe that. You are making great progress. Ignore that stupid scale. Slow and steady wins the race!

Congratulations on this milestone. I disagree with you though. 22 pounds in 6 months is great. emoticon That's a pound a week. I can only dream of that consistency and look at you, you've already done it. With the extra exercise I can see you easily making your goal. You go girl!

Week 2 of 5 K training finished

Saturday, March 12, 2011

I managed to finish my week 2 of walking yesterday. Monday walk went well. Wednesday I walked (but slowly) even though I thought I was coming down with a 24 hr. virus which has been sweeping our area. Luckily, I did not come down with it and walked 2 miles yesterday faster than I did the 1.75 on Wednesday.

Will walk farther this next week. I am listening to a book on tape (from local library) while I walk and this keeps my interest instead of looking at the treadmill monitor all the time. emoticon

Relatives came by for a visit and commented that I looked like I had lost more weight (not according to the scale), but "day of measuring" is tomorrow. We will see.

When I started this program I never expected to do it fast, just to do the entire program correctly and to finish with the 5 K in April.

Everyone else on the training program.....good luck

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

Doug was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the family business.
When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed to find a wife with whom to share his fortune.

One evening, at an investment meeting, he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her natural beauty took his breath away.

"I may look like just an ordinary guy," he said to her, "but in just a few years, my father will die and I will inherit $200 million."

Impressed, the woman asked for his business card and three days later, she became his stepmother.

Women are so much better at financial planning than men.
