{Organization} My New Years Challenge - Work

Sunday, November 29, 2009

My job stresses me out. When I first started they gave me a load of documents and crap to organize but I couldn't really do anything with it because I was unsure of how it was organized, how it should be and what it even was.

As I learned the job, I took on a lot of tasks. I have so many organizational tasks to complete but now I am so busy with other tasks I am overwhelmed.

My job is easy but it is either dead or so busy that I am stressing. And when it is dead I just slowly get other stuff done.

My boss doesn't treat me well so I don't care to work 150% all the time and kill myself for the job when I know he doesn't care.

But... this attitude ruins me not the job anyway.

I did a Tarot reading online just fooling about my life right now.

And it said -- Refusing to take on burdens greater than you can carry. Noble leadership restrained from transforming into tyranny. Bearing the weight of ultimate responsibility without being crushed. Through careful conservation of their fuel, the engines of creation continue onward.

This is sooo me right now. I am finally taking the job from another angle and taking care of myself and dialing back my intensity and care for the job.

But in my job, in my life, in everything to change my attitude and make all these changes, I am definitely bearing all kinds of responsiblity and accountability. I thought it was interesting...

Anyway, Friday I joined an organizational group. And right after I pulled apart all of my tasks that I could find, I cleaned my desk and Saturday I went through it so I could start tackling life from all angles.

My work to do list has 38 tasks that need to be done and about 30 that need to be done on Monday.

Each task will take 8-40 hours to do. So this will be tough not to mention, I am thrown tasks through out the day.

I need to pull out each of these software CD's (8 to a page) Log, Organize and Sticker

They have three file cabinets that need to be cleaned, organized and refiled or stored.

I need to file, do, organize -- these piles. Most of the piles are sitting there because I need to QC something or I need to clean the cabinets to file or am waiting on someone else.

This is the desk behind my desk. This is where I put everything that needs to be filed or QC'd but I don't have the time to clean out the cabinets.

This rollout filing system needs to be organized, the bottom needs to be stored and I have another box that needs to be reboxed and stored.

This is my drawer for forms and my filing stuff. I organized it once but it has manuals on the right side all 12 inches deep that need to be fixed.

My goal in my work life is to finish as much of this as possible as well as other tasks so no matter how long I stay at this job or what... it is good and I can start fresh for 2010.

Picture of my goal:

  OMG... You have your work cut out for you! Great attitude about it. I don't follow Feng Shui, but I remember that one of the concepts there was to clean out your closet if you're feeling bad. It has never failed to work for me, and I'm sure you'll feel tons accomplished once this stuff is organized.

PART 2 -- Cubism Visualization Quiz - Meaning Guide

Friday, November 27, 2009

Please do not read the meaning guide before you take the quiz (previous blog).
You will not be able to get the meanings out of your mind and it will tamper your results.

Examples are from friends and family that have taken this quiz prior to them knowing the answers....

emoticon Take the quiz first.

Meaning Guide --

***The Desert represents your inner world.

Thoughts regarding meanings:
-Empty Desert could mean there is something missing or an empty feeling
-A crowded Desert could mean you need to clear your life
-A big desert could mean a big imaginative type of personality
-A smallish desert could mean a small inner world, you don't allow yourself to dream, you didn't open up enough
-The more decorative and/or descriptive your desert the bigger your imagination.

***The Cube represents the inner you.

Thoughts regarding meanings:
- Note - how far is the cube from your minds eye? This will tell you how close you are to your own inner self.
If your cube is sitting on the ground you are a grounded, logical type of person or your facade is forcing your inner self down.
If your cube is floating in the air, you are a dreamer.
If your cube is a diamond shape in the air, you are a visionary.

~~~ A person stated their cube was impenetrable. He ended up admitting to me that he had his inner self so protected and he would not open up to people and be vulnerable with anyone.
~~~Another person stated they don't feel anything about the cube, they didn't want to think about that cube. When going over the answers, the person admitted they didn't like to think to deeply because they have been hurt so badly they didn't cultivate their inner world or self.

***The Ladder represents your friends and/or family. The people who truly would/should support you.

Thoughts regarding meanings:
If you have many rungs, you have many people in your life that are supportive.
Is the ladder close to the cube? Is one leaning on the other?
Who is supporting whom? All this will tell you about your current relationships and your inner self.

~~~ One friend stated that their ladder was in the center of their cube and later admitted that their friends and family was their world and took up most of their time.
~~~ One person who said they were a loner in their answers told me their ladder was cast away and they didn't feel anything toward it.

***The Horse represents your life partner. This could be your future partner, your current partner, it could be what you hate or what you love in someone. It will usually represent the foremost or innermost desire/feelings at the time.

Thoughts regarding meanings:
Is the horse close to the cube? The feelings and descriptions about the horse will tell you about your partner.

~~~ I had one friend tell me they had two horses and described them. It was funny because when discussing the answers, she admitted she liked two men and was unable to choose.
~~~ One person was adamant they had no horse. This man to this day is a confirmed bachelor.

***The storm represents drama/chaos/troubles in your own life.

Thoughts regarding meanings:
Depending on where this is in your desert... is the storm behind you, coming right for you, are you in it?

~~~One person was sure they had no storms. This person was a very calm person.
***The flowers represents your creations - creativity, children, birth of life (should that be hobbies, things you create, make, or your actual children)
~~~ One person had no children but there career and in their desert was one type of flower.

It is a simple little quiz but has given me things to think about and ponder over the years.

If anyone takes this, I hope they enjoy it.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Symbols are what they mean to you and how they connect in your life.
It is one way to imagine and see a different future and maybe see things that are stuck in your way.

Visualization - A cubism test - Fun - Part 1 - Questions

Friday, November 27, 2009

Years ago, a friend of mine gave me this cubism test. He mentioned he got it out of a book but I have been unable to find this book. However, I love the test. I take it every few years and see my results.

Once you take the test and find out what it means, the interpretation is pretty simple but if you need help you can look at symbols. What those things mean to you.

Rules: Let yourself go. Visualize and Give as much detail as possible.
Do not rush ahead and do not read meanings until you have completed the quiz.

1. Imagine a desert. Describe.

2. In this desert, there is a cube.
a. how big is the cube?
b. what color? what texture?
c. what is it made of if you can tell?
d. Is it solid? Is it hollow?
e. how far is it from you?
f. is it sitting flat on the ground or in some other position?

Before going on, give at least 5 adjectives about the cube. What mood does it convey? Any other physical qualities?

3. There is also a ladder.
a. what is the ladder made of?
b. Where is it in relation to the cube?
c. Approximately how many rungs does the ladder have? Many, several, a few?

Before moving on, note any other qualities about the ladder.

4. There is a horse.
a. What kind?
b. what color?
c. where is it?
d. what is the horse doing?
e. Does it have a saddle, bridle, or not? if so what kind?
f. where is the ladder in relation to the ladder and cube?

Before moving on, note any other qualities about the horse.

5. Somewhere there is a storm.
a. what kind of strom is it?
b. where do you see it? where in relation to the horse, ladder, cube?
c. does it affect the cube, ladder, horse or not? if so, how?

Before moving on, note any other qualities about the storm.

6. And finally there are flowers.
a. where are the flowers?
b. are there many or a few?
c. what color (s)? what kind (s)?
d. where are the flowers in relation to the ladder, cube, horse

Be as descriptive and creative and use your imagination to create your desert, add whatever you feel or see about the desert and its contents.

Follow your intuitive.

Meaning guide to follow....

ever meet the love of your life?

Friday, November 27, 2009

I ponder the love of my life often. I like Gloria Vanderbilt's quote about She always expected something great to happen and it did. Life is a bit about energy and attraction. No matter how hard it is to flip the switch, if you can flip that switch, the world is completely different.

As I get older, I wonder if I will just have lots of unconditional interesting loving lovely experiences in nontraditional settings.

Maybe I won't marry. Maybe when I pass, I will look back at the few dear dear friends, great experiences and a few great men that opened my heart and made me love to the depths of my being -- stretching me into a greater being.

Today I ran into a blog of someone I am extremely fond of...
And you know it doesn't matter if I ever speak to him again
If we never kiss
If we never have something ego and tangible

His ideas, his heart, is me.
Maybe that is why.
Maybe we will never speak again or email of ideas. thoughts. wonders.

But learning to love life, ideas, people just as they are exactly as life is wishing nothing more than what is with me now.

I think I might be able to do this instead of resisting. Instead of being sad.
Life .. exactly as it is.

Maybe then I can once again allow my creativity to dance and laugh in, around and through me.

I really am just a bunch of glorious lights, energy and love.
Why don't I cultivate that?

I will.
I will keep him, life and love in me.
For me.
For this.
For life.

To remember.
To Be.

  Wow... I feel this. It is about the journey. I read this and the Baz Luhrmann song came to mind... I'm posting the lyrics:

Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of í97
Wear Sunscreen

If I could offer you only one tip for the future,
sunscreen would be it.
The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists,
whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience
I will dispense this advice now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth, oh nevermind,
you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they've faded.
But trust me, in 20 years youíll look back at photos of yourself
and recall in a way you canít grasp now, how much possibility lay before you
and how fabulous you really looked,
you are not as fat as you imagine.

Donít worry about the future, or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum.
The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind, the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.

Do one thing everyday that scares you

Donít be reckless with other peopleís hearts,
donít put up with people who are reckless with yours.

Donít waste your time on jealousy, sometimes youíre ahead, sometimes youíre behind,
the race is long, and in the end, itís only with yourself.

Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults,
if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.

Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.

onít feel guilty if you donít know what you want to do with your life,
the most interesting people I know didnít know at 22
what they wanted to do with their lives,
some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still donít.

Get plenty of calcium.

Be kind to your knees, youíll miss them when theyíre gone.

Maybe youíll marry, maybe you wonít, maybe youíll have children, maybe you wonít,
Maybe youíll divorce at 40,
Maybe youíll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary
What ever you do, donít congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either
Your choices are half chance, so are everybody elseís.
Enjoy your body, use it every way you can, donít be afraid of it,
or what other people think of it, itís the greatest instrument youíll ever own

Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.

Read the directions, even if you donít follow them.

Do not read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.

Brother and sister together we'll make it through
Someday a spirit will take you and guide you there
I know you've been hurtin, but I've been waitin' to be there for you
And I'll be there just helping you out whenever I can

Get to know your parents, you never know when theyíll be gone for good.

Be nice to your siblings, they are the best link to your past
and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.

Understand that friends come and go, but for the precious few you should hold on.
Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle because the older you get,
the more you need the people you knew when you were young.

Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard,
Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.

Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will philander,
you too will get old, and when you do youíll fantasize that when you were young
prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.

Respect your elders.

Donít expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund,
Maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one might run out.

Donít mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40, it will look 85.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it.
Advice is a form of nostalgia,
dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off,
painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than itís worth.

But trust me on the sunscreen

Brother and sister together we'll make it through
Someday a spirit will take you and guide you there
I know you've been hurtin, but I've been waitin' to be there for you
And I'll be there just helping you out whenever I can
Everybody's free oh yeah
Everybody's free oh yeah emoticon

Thank you Spark Friends and Supporters

Friday, November 27, 2009

I wanted to say Thank you to all the great people I met, blogs I have read and support I have received. Everyone at Spark has such a wonderful group of people who are so supportive no matter how lost we get. It is such a great motivation when I feel lost and I keep seeing all these wonderful people still at the gym, still trying, still kicking and losing lbs. It makes me push all the crap down and get back up. I think it is the best support system I have had yet.
I feel so encouraged and supported and have no doubt if I just keep logging and tracking and keeping in touch, I too, will see and keep success.

I am so thankful to the motivators and supporters out there. I hope to become some sort of support and motivation for all the great people too!

I hope everyone has a great Holiday season full of pounds lost, loved ones and goals met!!!

Love, Erica emoticon
