100 Day Challenge Day 62 & healthy weight

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

emoticonFirst a little party! I am officially in the "healthy weight" BMI. Barely, because it s 24.9 but I am still there. I am so excited about this. I have been working my butt off and learning so much a long the way. I am jumping for joy right now.

Day 62: Ask the team for help with something you have found to be difficult.
~Well, I'm asking here as well. I really, really, really want to start getting up in the mornings with time to exercise b/c I think it stresses me out having to find time during the day to fit it in. My problem is that I hear the alarm and I just want to go back to bed. My alarm is all the way on the other side of the room, I get up and turn it off or hit the snooze then go back to bed. I am horrible about getting up when it goes off. I love mornings and am not grumpy, but 5-5:30 am just seems a bit too early for me. If I get up at 6, which is my usual, I only have time to get ready for the day and get to work. During this time I make coffee, shower, get dressed, pack my lunch and get all the other odd and end stuff done that I need to do before I'm ready to go like giving my dog his treats and enjoying a cup of coffee while I check my email. It doesn't take me very long to drink that first cup, then the rest goes with me.

Just thinking about getting up that early makes me stressed out! I'm sorry that is what you are dealing with. I guess you don't have any time to exercise after work, or maybe you're too exhausted from the day by then? It sounds like you've received some good suggestions from others.

Congratulations on your BMI!!! I am getting ready to move from the "obese" category to just simply "overweight." But, reaching "normal" is totally awesome!!!

CONGRATS on making it to the healthy BMI! That's great! Way to go!

I get my coffee ready the night before so I can just press the button when I get up. That saves a minute or two. I agree with the other poster who mentioned getting up 5 minutes early or 10. I like those SP bootcamp videos. I used to do the bootcamp videos in the morning and would feel energized throughout the day. My colleague called me hyper...

That being said, I am having the same problem these days. I want to do strength training in the morning but find that I don't want to get up at the time the alarm goes off. I feel like I'm not ready to face the day and it's my way of rebelling...

How about we make a deal? I'll get up early if you do. Say 10 minutes?

Maybe if you know someone else is doing it it won't be as difficult? Want to try it?

Let me know and we can do it the same day...

I also am running before school 2 days a week with the students. That keeps me on track because I'm doing it with a group. But the rest of the week I hit the snooze button. If you' d like to try doing it, I would be more likely to do it

I have more of an issue with working it around my afternoons. This is when I am on the go because I am home and everything is open. I used to be able to get up in the morning and exercise, I really enjoyed it. The time came when I moved back home and switched time zones and now I have to wait another hour to talk to my bf because of minutes. I am finally back to waking up at a good time to get ready, now it's just working on getting up to exercise. Some how I feel as though I have more time during my day, but now I just squeeze more in. There was a span of a couple weeks, here lately, where I only did minute amounts of exercise just because I did not feel like it. I am not back to craving it and doing it when I have time. I always find time for it because I love it, I just wish I could get back to doing it in the morning because I have so much more energy through out the night and sleep better. If I work out in the afternoon, I seem to stay up later.

AngieDW1 had great suggestions for making it happen.

But I have a question or two for you....

What are you getting *not* exercising in the morning?

If you set this as a goal, even to the point of setting your alarm and putting it across the room, it's clear that part of you really wants this. But if you keep struggling with it, it's clear that part of you does NOT want it.

Why don't you want it?

Some days I can exercise in the morning. Some days I can't. The days I can't, usually things have been pretty hectic the days before, and my mind, body, and soul need the quiet time to drink that coffee in peace more than I need morning exercise. On those days, I can usually manage to squeeze out exercise later in the day *because* I listened to myself and didn't force it in the morning.

Some mornings, I get up and it's clear to me that I just need to move. More than I need the time to sit and relax, meditate, or however you define it.

As far as feeling stressed about fitting in the exercise--I used to feel stressed out because I thought I should be doing more exercise in the morning, and that there's something wrong with me if I couldn't. When I started letting go of that and just listening to what my body really needs, it all became easier. It became easier to get up in the morning when that was the right thing--and it became easier to make time in the afternoon if that was the right thing.

Oh, and emoticon --congratulations for making it to normal weight!!!

I had the same thoughts as previous poster. Gradually get up earlier and do everything you can to prep the night before. It really does get easier as you start doing it, especially if you are moving. Good luck!

Once you start waking up early, it will become a habit. I just go to bed earlier. Good luck.

I have a suggestion for you. Start packing your lunch and as much other stuff before you go to bed. Get up 5 minutes earlier every day this week. In the few extra minutes you save packing your lunch and the extra 5 minutes you can run around the block with your dog. Next week get up 5 minutes earlier and maybe you have time to run around 2 blocks. you can adjust gradually and even if you can't fit in any other fitness, you have done at least a little.

100 Day Challenge Day 58-61

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Day 58 Identify something you like about your personality
~ I am loving, caring, optimistic, social, and very energetic.

Day 59 Review food and fitness logs to be sure you're logging accurately
~ Fitness is being tracked, but I find I do better when I write down my food and not log it. I think I am to the point where I am conscious of what I am eating and what I have in my house. Even if I over eat, it is going to be on healthy foods, which rarely happens. I find that if I eat when I am hungry I do very well. It amounts to about 4-5 times per day.

Day 60 Examine phase 6 victories
~ I am losing weight again. My confidence is at an all time high. Check out the next blog for details on what I have been up to.

Phase 7: Trust: Your team is here for you. We are fellow soldiers -- comrades in arms. You will get by…with a little help from your friends. Share something you have been struggling with and ask for help.

Day 61 Weigh in/Decide what you can improve from Phase 6
~ 166.4 I am really starting to lose again and am very excited to see the scale going down. I do know that weight is not the most important thing, as my clothes were still getting too big even though I was not losing any weight.

~Improvement: I will get up at 5:30 every morning and get at least 10 mins of exercise done in the morning.
