Okay now that you have seen the Numbers now unfortunately I gained 1 lb but my Body Fat stayed the same and on the plus side I lost 1 inch on My Middle Stomach and lost 1 inch on My Hips and these are difficult places to lose weight soo I am still proud of myself even though it wasn't a huge Weight loss this time! I am gonna be honest and on my Birthday which was May 22nd I splurged and indulged in eating whatever I wanted soo I had Pizza and I am Italian and there was no way I was gonna skip my Cannolli Cake on my Birthday so I also had that too and I gained some weight but hey I was soo good before my Birthday came that's No Lie! But one day of enjoying myself and I messed up bad but hey I just keep Working Harder now since than to unravel the damage I've done!
Okay soo moving on to the positives and there are lots of them!

1st I reached 161 Days of still Not Eating Lay's Potato Chips but on my Birthday I had Friendly's Ice Cream so I messed up there but still staying away from the Chips soo Yay!

2nd Continue to Workout Out everyday and increased my Workouts to 60 minutes each time everyday and I only do 10 Minutes on Sundays because I do need to give my Body time to heal.

3rd Continue to Drink 64 oz or more of Water Everyday

4th Continue to Eat Healthy Everyday and find more Nutritious and Healthy Snacks to Nibble on. Tried Almond Butter and Kiwi which was very Yummy and I soo love it! Soo good to eat! Yum Yum Yum!

5th Continue to Stay Away from all Junk Food except Friendly's Ice Cream!

6th Continue to Log my Meals Everyday

7th Continue to still get the Award for 1,000 Fitness Minutes!

8th Continue to Stay Positive even if its getting tougher to keep Working Out like I do everyday I still manage to press on and Work even harder!

9th Continue to press on even when the Scale is not showing good Numbers

10th Continue to get The Consistency Award but not The Perfect Attendance because I missed only 1 day! Sigh Ohh Well!

11th I am just going to continue Working Hard and Fighting Harder and to Not Give Up on my Goals!

So overall I am just gonna continue Working hard and hope for better results Next Month! I am soo glad I never gave up and kept pressing on even when the Weight was not coming off! I really appreciate all of my friends here who have supported me and I am not done yet! Well till next month keep up the good fight and hopefully its just gonna be more better news next month

so i'm clearly a little late in reading this post, but it was worth the read for sure! i think its really great that you are staying so positive... its a whole lot easier to stay super enthusiastic and positive when the scale is going down and you're able to see the tangible results of your daily hard work. when those numbers aren't going down, and you feel like your body punished you for one birthday splurge (which i think we all deserve!!), its a WHOLE lot harder.... so good for you! your positivity is contagious :)

I know we often think of progress as continually losing - but really 1 pound isn't that bad as long as you are marching in the right direction - and you are!

As hard as you are working - wouldn't be surprised if you are gaining muscle, too!

I am slooooooooowly learning that sometimes - as long as I am still striving - as long as I am not gaining a lot - I'm doing pretty good.

So glad you enjoyed your special day - never heard of canoli cake but it sounds great.

You're doing a great job - keep up the good work!

Okay - I know you are going to get mad at me - but I wrote another book-length comment. . .

My dearest DETERMINED,

I can’t believe you lost 10.8 pounds – that is an awesome achievement! I remember when losing weight before – when I was REALLY WORKING OUT HARD – I was able to do that. You really aren’t kidding when you say you are determined!

Great job on keeping away from temptation – 130 days is nothing to shake a stick at – that is a huge achievement too! I have been sooooo impressed whenever I see your status updates saying “I worked out for 60 minutes today” – I know you really must be working hard. What do you do for exercise? Do you enjoy it? Have you tried other things? For me – the reason I can press myself further is because I do different types of exercise – it makes it more exciting. If I had to climb on the treadmill every day it would be difficult for me. However, some people are much better at it – if then enjoy it – than I am.

As for the water – I have never measured – until this challenge. I see that I truly thought I was drinking more than I actually was. Now I have a plastic jug with measurements on the side so I know exactly how much I am drinking. It makes a difference – my skin is even looking better!

I am also drinking almond milk – and don’t get me started on hummus – that is absolute yummmmm on a plate! I love it! Almond milk – I use it when I need milk and it’s okay – but I don’t absolutely love it! I just usually stick with water. So glad you are finding healthy alternatives – some days it isn’t easy – but if we truly want to make a difference – it helps a whole lot!

Logging meals is not an easy one for me. I eat quite healthy on a daily basis – and almost everything I eat has whole grains and vegetables. It is hard to chart though – because my recipes are my own – not something easy to chart each ingredient and be accurate. I think that’s great that you are doing it – and if I ever think that it is going to help me be more successful – I probably will go that route as well. I truly look up to those who do it – as I’m sure it is an awesome tool!

Staying positive isn’t easy sometimes – but it looks like you have a lot of tools at your disposal. You also seem to have a lot of scale – and non-scale victories that are shouting out “Great job, girl!” Hopefully that helps a lot. The awards help me – and when I get them I always do a happy dance and tell my husband “see – look what I did!” just like a little kid showing their report card. Infantile? Perhaps – but darn it – it makes me feel good, so who cares!

I have not read “The Spark Solution” yet – I think that is there more recent book I have been hearing about. I read their first book and it helped a lot – not only in motivating change in weight loss, but also in everyday life. It has a lot of good advice and ideas in there!

I am so proud of all you have done so far – and it shows I pick some pretty awesome (not to mention inspiring) SparkFriends, if I must say so myself! You have done a great job – and I hope you continue to celebrate you – and all you have a achieved so far – a little each day.

Keep up the good work – because now you KNOW that it truly PAYS OFF. You are a shining example to anyone else out there that it can happen – we can do it. If there was an award out there for it – you would be holding that in your hands right now! Great job!

    Hi Jamie.....

You are an inspiration to me. I also work hard at loosing, but I have a lot right now working against me. I have a knee that I had replaced that is not healing right, I also have my Thyroid that they can not get into control. I started my journey back on 1/6/2008. I got down to 135 & then went up to as of today after DR app to 195. A lot of this is my thyroid as I walk & exercise every day. It is so discoursing but I know that I can do it like you have.

Good luck & I WILL BE WATCHING FOR YOUR UPDATE.

Yesterday Was A Test!

Sunday, April 07, 2013

Hi Everyone,
So yesterday one of my really good friends came up to see me and she wanted to go to Chili's and I'm thinking can I handle going to a Restaurant after being soo good these past 3 Months and Eating Healthy! Of course I didn't wanna disappoint her so I caved and went! Omg so I was thinking what am I gonna Eat here that's not going to Kill my Progress. So the server comes over and says what can I get you to Drink and I was good and said Water with Lemon please. Next I looked over the Menu and I was like Hmm what am I going to have. I looked at The Santa Fe Salad & I was like yeah that's a good choice. So I was thinking but I remember a Article I read on Sparkpeople about Restaurant Salads and how they are not as Healthy as they claim to be so when the Waitress came back with my Water with Lemon I asked for a Nutrition Menu with all the Items Listed they serve! At first she looked at me weird and I was okay with that and than she came back! Omg I'm soo glad I looked up The Santa Fe Salad before I ordered it because it was 700 cal Oh that would of Killed my whole day if I would of Ate that! Okay soo the Old Me would of been like give me your Biggest Steak and Double Mash Potatoes and Vegetables Umm Noo Not for me! So yeah I've changed big time, and it feels good! So I looked at the Nutrition Menu and went with The 6oz Sirloin with Steamed Broccoli, and Black Beans which was only 250 cal. My friend on the other hand which is Super Skinny lucky her ordered an Appetizer of Cheese Fries, and her main dish was Pork Ribs! She told me have some of these Cheese Fries and I said No Thanks and continued to drink my Lemon Water, and I was thinking Omg I just refused Cheese Fries that's big! When my Meal came to the Table my friend laughed at my plate and was like that's all you are eating and I was like yup it is! And I enjoyed my Small Meal and was like yeah and I was proud of myself! After I ate my Meal my friend ordered Dessert and she got the Chocolate Chip Paradise and it looked really good and again she offered me some & I was like Noo Thanks and Smiled and I just watched her indulge & I was thinking Wow I have really changed because before I would not of had just a Huge Steak and Loaded Mashed Potatoes or Fries but I would also get the Biggest Dessert too! After my friend and me finished Eating and she had to leave before she left she said Man I am soo proud of you & she was like you really are a different person! That made me feel even better! After I went home and after an Hour passed I than did my 71 Minutes of Aerobics and boy did I feel good! I know this was a long Blog but its Important to me to be totally honest and realize that yesterday was a big test and I passed! So moral of my story is this if you really want something soo bad you will let nothing stand in your way! Alright thanks for reading have a great day!
:)

I Don't Know How to Keep Going & Staying Positive!

Monday, April 01, 2013

Hi Everyone,
I'm in a very bad place right now! I have been working soo hard and I still can't seem to get below 300 lbs yet! This is soo frustrating and I don't know if I can stay positive when all I wanna do is breakdown and cry! I have been Working out for 3 months Straight Everyday. On Sundays I only do 10 minutes but still I have been doing this everyday and this is the longest I have ever worked out especially on an everyday basis and still this Weight is not going away! I am eating Healthy OMG I haven't even eaten Lay's Potato Chips or Friendly's Ice Cream in 91 Days! That's a long time and I was soo addicted to these 2 things! I even drink 64 oz of Water Everyday so really why isn't all these good things I'm doing not paying off? I even went to my Doctor to find out if I have a Thyroid Condition and the Doctor said my Results showed that I didn't and that everything is fine Diabetes, Cholesterol, & etc all fine! Since January I have lost 8 inches total from my Body, and I've only lost 8 lbs! I'm sooo sooo frustrated the weight keeps going up and down and I don't know if I can keep going for a ride on this Roller Coaster anymore! I am having a Sleep Study done tonight to find out if I'm losing Sleep or if I have any disorder! I just don't know what else to do! Please help me out someone anyone?
Alright well I appreciate any feedback or advice
Thanks

SUMTHINGSPECIAL 4/7/2013 2:21PM

I joined SparkPeople a while ago. At first - I set my goal to exercise 3 times a week. I enjoyed working out - taking time for me - and enjoyed feeling sore. My body started to look a bit different - but I did not lose weight - or at least, it was slowly leaving my body - turtle ssssssslllllllloooooooow.

Re
cently - I have found a difference in the way I do things. I got a FitBit a few weeks ago. Not trying to sell you anything - but I have a different perspective now. I am a homeschool mom of 4. I sit a lot while teaching them - a lot. I have tried to do little things to be a bit more active - but my "bit more active" wasn't really active at all. That's where the FitBit helped. Essentially - it tracks your steps. I started to move more. When I do dishes - I march in place or step from side to side. I love step aerobics and what I do is something similar - but (1) without the step and (2) I fit it in whenever I am standing doing nothing.

You would think it wouldn't make a difference - but I have already lost 3.2 pounds since using it. Also - every day my legs are sore - just like they would be if I actually put in an hour or so of step aerobics. Don't get me wrong - I also ride my spin bike and walk on the treadmill - because my goal is to get 10,000 steps in each day. However, after all this - I realized that I really wasn't moving - or working out as hard as I thought I was.

Am I telling you to get a FitBit? No - but what I am saying is that you might want to re-evaluate whether you are working out as hard as you think - are you active throughout the day. When I worked out on my spin bike before the Fitbit - I would workout, but I didn't necessarily sweat. However, now that I have steps in mind - I try harder to push myself. I sweat! You don't necessarily need a tool for that - but just keep that in mind when you evaluate what you are currently doing. It isn't about sitting down most of the day at a desk and then just working out for 30 minutes at night two or three times a week. We really need to get moving a lot more than that.

Anyhow - that's just my observation. Hopefully you will find an answer.

Keep up the good work!

Sumay

You have lost 8 pounds and 8 inches. That is certainly something.

If you are not doing it, I would recommend tracking every thing (solids and liquids!) that you put into your mouth. The tracker on Spark is excellent. This also means measuring things, you might be overestimating size.

You probably should be eating in the target range that Spark recommends, and you might try letting Spark suggest meals for you.

Don't forget to drink lots and lots of water, it does make a difference.

Also, breakfast is an important meal, don't skip it. I like Greek Yogurt and GoLean cereal.

If you track for a couple weeks, you might be able to see some targets that you can change for something better.

So you lose weight in the kitchen and get healthy in the gym. That's my shorthand to remind myself that food is the key to losing weight, not exercise. When I was in my 20s, I weighed nearly 400 pounds, but also rode my bike to work, to school, everywhere. In other words, I got a TON of exercise and was very fit cardiovascular-wise, but was also very large.

What's your food plan? Are you counting calories or following some other plan whereby you know that you're eating an appropriate amount? At your weight, you should probably be getting a good 1800-2000 calories a day (good calories - meats, veggies, fruits, not processed foods) and still lose weight at good clip. Not too much less or a lot more.

Alright so 9 things to be proud of and I'm still trying my hardest to stay focused and not let my lack of Weightloss hinder me and make me throw in the towel

My only advice is to stay positive. Your nine points of things to be proud of are all terrific and this will pay off...stick to your plan. On your exercise, keep trying to do something a bit different..our bodies "like" to be surprised. Wishing you a wonderful April!!!! Progress is happening.

Sometimes it takes the body longer to adjust. Be careful with portion control, that 1/2 cup is not a full cup. Measure it out, don't just eyeball it.
