Day 174

Saturday, December 08, 2007

Got my average steps in a least, it was a Christmas party and gained this week, so next week will have to buckle down again! I am still within my maintenance range though so thats good. Not sure why I am up though did eat more but within my maintenance range calories, frustrating and its not that time of the month to even use an excuse.

Anna -- I have also been up on the scales. I am up a pound and come to find out that Aunt Flo is here. Being a female is fun, isn't it?!

It takes time to tweak your maintainence program and you are still in range, so just be extra carefull this coming week. Great job!

Day 173

Friday, December 07, 2007

Phew, things seem a little calmer today and not so overwhelmed with emails, I need to change some things with my business so do not spend so much time basically working for free, as its stressing me out and not too productive either. Not to mention a day of flooding and no power and DH being out of town all week! I feel calmer and hopefully can have a quiet catch-up day here. DD is tired too but she had a good week, I am worried she is lacking in social skills, which she is and she is really a little immature for her age so am making every effort to get her around more people. I am working on her behavior too as she is really having a lot of tantrums again as she approaches four. Homeopathic remedies help and I need to order hers as we used it all up!! She is really spirited and smart, she is starting to read and is a whiz on the PC and talks all the time, in public she acts like a baby though and babbles, or does not say anything if someone asks her a question, or goes into cat mode. Miaow. I am sure its a phase and luckily the cat phase is passing, it was especially hard at the swim class, but the other day she was really great at the swim class, which she loves and gets so excited she was out of control but thats going better. Anyhow between DD's social life, my business and apparently being available 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and trying to build a house, not to mention trying to get 2 hours of exercise a day its been stressful. I gained 3 lbs this week and did not go even into my supposed maintenance range, maybe its sodium and from my iron pill though so will have a low day today I hope!

I'm sure it is just a passing phase with DD, she sounds adorable. If I have some time tomorrow maybe I'll look at her chart if you don't mind. I've been studying and would like to practice my interpretation skills. Glad things have relaxed a bit for you!

OOOhhhh LaundryChick - my dad used that, too, for the same xx thing you avoided mentioning! LOL It musta been the 'thing' to say back then!
And Destiny, she's right - these phases will soon pass. All I know about having an single child is DS#1 up to just before he was 3 - and my problem with HIM was he wasn't talking very well, fact is no one other than myself could even underSTAND him until he was over 4!!! AND, HE is and was a VERY intelligent kid!
Every age brings it challenges. Both of you are GOING TO MAKE IT! And, what she's doing isn't so strange, anyway. ;-)

Your daughter sounds dee-lightful and quite precocious! Try not to worry too much about the social/behavior stuff. I know that's easier said than done, but it's hard to socialize "onlies" much before school starts. Having her do a little preschool (for the social benefits) and the swim class, plus I've heard you mention play dates, are all very appropriate and wonderful ways to help. You're doing the right thing, Mom! About working for free, when I was in high school my dad had a mantra that he quoted to me often, "Nobody buys the cow, if the milk is free." He was talking about something else, but it works here, too! Lol Have an awesome day!

Day 172

Thursday, December 06, 2007

Another busy day, DD had a playdate and we stayed for lunch, then errands and then I dropped her off at an after-school program where I live for the first time, its once a week and pre-K thru 8th Grade. Needless to say she had a blast and I went for a hike/run in the State Park while I waited for her, for an hour so that was a win-win situation. Its so hard to get my exercise in and I am extremely stressed out trying to juggle so many things including work I get it all done but I am really stressed and thats not good. Its just overwhelming right now though.

State Park sounds great, and at least you are taking some steps (no pun intended) to combat that crazy stress. Take some deep breaths and hopefully you'll get a break from the stress soon.

Anna -- hang in there, girl! Stress seems to occupy our lives this time of year. I love it, but at the same time I am so ready for it to be done!!! Take a stab at some yoga (I could recommend a couple of good dvd's for stress if you are interested) it helps me SO MUCH!!!

We are getting the snow from your storm system today -- we are supposed to get 5-9" Yea!!!!!

Day 171

Wednesday, December 05, 2007

Long hike along beach and back through woods. I saw an otter on the beach and so nice just to walk and enjoy myself with my dog, DD was in her preschool. We both needed a break thats for sure after almost a week cooped up inside. I am really wanting to just exercise and not count every step and looking forward to summer already, hope DD enjoys the hikes again then! Then treated myself to Thai Food and read a book while I ate, about Taming the Spirited Child lol had some good ideas though one of which is to take care of yourself and take a break! It was so exciting to see an otter though they are one of my favorite wild animals. Also was down t0 135.8 today but doubt I will be tomorrow after today! But I needed it and good to be really in maintenance mode at last! Well for a day at least hahahaha!

What fun to see an otter! On your spark page you wrote that you are large boned. Do you still think that after getting down to 135? I'm thinking I could borrow your book for DS#3. He's the kind of child that would make me want to write a book of my own. lol Have a great day!

After the Storm

Its a beautiful day today though blustery, I have not been outside yet but looks a lot better, still more water than normal in our yard, but manageable. I was watching the news and people lost their homes to mudslides and flooding, which is very sad. The power of Nature can be formidable.

I hope I can do some exercise today, I want to go for a walk, but its a little windy and am worried about trees falling, its a huge problem in this area. I will see if it calms down, but going to go for a walk around the property and see what damage there was.
