Feeling blue and very food needy.

A good friend and neighbor passed away Tuesday and my automatic response is to want to use food to dull my senses and take away the pain. How is it that we have given food so much power in our lives?

So far, thru prayer, I have not done much damage to my food plan; but there has been no victory either. The battle still rages. Then, of course, I feel bad becuz the prayers and thoughts are all about me... instead of my friends family. Does this battle with food ever end? Maybe not in this world.

I don't think the battle ever ends. I struggle all the time. I am an emotional eater but I am working at finding other ways to cope. Getting mad at my husband and overeating doesn't hurt him, it hurts me. You can rant at me on my page any time you need to have an ear. emoticon

I don't know when the battle ends. May I suggest that each time you pray to get rid of the temptation, you also pray for your friend's family.

Wonderful Day!

Saturday, January 19, 2013

Beautiful day - about 74 degrees, and no wind, just slight breeze. Was dancing around the house this morning while doing house work, but headed to the pool for an hour this afternoon. Did a good 30 minutes of swimming. Used water weights and jogged for the other 30 minutes. It felt so good to be back moving. I think its's been about 3 weeks since I was last there. My DH and I will be walking after dinner too. So glad it has warmed up. This is the AZ I love.

AZ has a lot of climate zones. I bet down south winters are pretty mild, but in the mountains, I bet there is snow. Congrats for making fitness a priority.

Lesson Learned

Thursday, January 17, 2013

Never have ham for the last two dinners before weigh-in day AND eat a bag of beef jerky the day before. I couldn't believe the scale; and altho I'd like to blame the whole 6 pound gain on water retention, I think I have to take the blame for some of it. I know I was NOT eating properly last week.

Wind has died down, temp has come up and tonight we walked. It's like back to square one. Knees and hips hurt, so just around our block. Within a week, if I keep at it, I should be able to work it back up to 5-6 blocks again. Poor old body!!

my knees hurt also. i stopped walking taking showers instead of baths not doing laundry.

until one day it was soooo bad that i had to see a specialist.
i went to physical therapy. now i am taking baths doing laundry and doing a Y challenge.

so i have been there. hope this helps.

I think if you lean towards low sodium food and push your water consumption, most of that weight will dissipate. Also sweat it out know...exercise!

We all seem to have our stories from lessons learned, at least I hope mine were learned but better to have learned a lesson and have to start over than to quit altogether. emoticon

No pool

Monday, January 14, 2013

One of my goals was to go to the pool at least 3 days a week during the winter.......but our usual AZ winters are NOT 20 something degrees! Hopefully soon this cold spell will break and things will get back to normal.

Hubby and I been sick since last Friday, so no real exercise and not much planning on meals. But I'm feeling much better today , and altho I probably won't get outside for another few days, I'm feeling interested in planning my food and cooking again.

Take care of yourself. Soup sounds good. Make chicken soup with a bag of cole slaw mix. Surprisingly and easy since you're are sick.
