Better Again, I Hope

Sunday, April 25, 2010

Having slept most of yesterday and last night, I'm feeling better today. When I say I slept, I mean I was tired, laid down, read a while, tossed and turned, slept a couple of hours, woke up and repeated the above, woke up and got up for a while ...

Got up about 0500, read the Sunday paper while drinking my coffee and having breakfast.

Fed the critters. The cats are convinced I won't feed them unless they yowl at me. Even though I feed them a bit of wet food TWICE A DAY, and they have dry all the time.

The pups get all excited when they see the cats are getting fed and start spinning around in circles. Shalako dances on her hind legs and licks her lips. Samurai starts doing his imitation of a pogo stick jumper - boing, boing!

Went to the gym and did 3 miles on the treadmill and a hard workout on the circuit machines. Had a good lunch and got some grocery shopping done. Walked the pups a mile this evening. Oddly enough, I'm ready for a nap!

Cats are getting restless, trying to walk on the keyboard to get my attention. Guess it's time to feed them again!

I took pictures of the pups putside a few minutes ago. Of course, they wouldn't do their usual things. Shalako seems to think I'm going to do something to her with the camera phone, so I had to hold a treat above her head to get her to dance. Samurai is jumping, but I didn't catch him right, and he's licking his lips after the treat. Sigh.

Spoke Too Soon

Sunday, April 25, 2010

I went to work yesterday evening, feeling much better than the previous few days. 2 hours in, I was feeling punky again. Had to come home, after desperately calling staff that were off and begging one to come in. (It's amazing how many people won't answer the phone after 2200 (10P) - huh)

Got home, started watching recorded TV shows - kept falling asleep in CSI and losing track of the story. Backed up, tried again, fell asleep, repeated. Finally gave up and went to bed.

Slept off & on all day AGAIN! Gotta go drag the pups around the blocks & get moving. This stomach virus thing has got to stop soon. There's only so much sleeping I can do.

Hope you're feeling a little better now. Maybe you should let your doc know; you might need some meds. Wishing you well soon!

My daughter had it for several days a little over a week ago, and one of my grandsons also had it. Take care of yourself and feel better soon.

Feel better! The kids in the schools here in Silver have been wiped out by a stomach virus. Many of them have spent a day or two in the hospital. I have not had it, and don't want it, and hopefully won't get it. emoticon

Don't know about the stomach virus thing. I've had that for almost 3 weeks now. A candy mint now and again with water seems to help. emoticon

Yea! Feeling Better!

Friday, April 23, 2010

Finally, finally, I was feeling well enough to walk the pups today. I haven't done cardio for 2 days - really sluggo - urgh!

I had planned to take them on a 2.25 mile walk thru the neighborhood, but felt so good we just kept going. Started after sunrise (sunrise was at 6:24, we started late at 6:50). Bundled up in scarf, gloves, ear muffs, hat, and jacket - brrr. It was nippy at about 40, with a wind chill to about 34. Half an hour in, the sun was getting higher, and I was peeling off the gloves, then the hat, and a few blocks later the ear muffs.

Pups loved it - brisk without being too cold (for them, the little fuzz butts). It had rained again last night, but I think the storms have moved off. I heard thunder and maybe hail? in the middle of the night. So, the streets had puddles - had to loft Samurai over the puddles or he'd have gone splashing thru. Shalako was ready to quit when we got home, but Samurai would have been happy to keep going. (This pix is not Samurai)

Yesterday, at one brief moment when I thought I was feeling OK to walk the pups, it was raining. I had made a fruit smoothie, and let the pups lick out the container. They had spikey hair-dos like little punk rockers. They got bathed and were NOT happy.

I spent almost an hour combing out Samurai's tangles. He has a finer undercoat than Shalako does - she only took 20 minutes! Between them, I had enough fur to make another pet.

Now, I'm catching up here, sorta watching the Regis & Kelly Show (Regis is off and Anderson Cooper is subbing for him). I plan to get some (more) sleep soon. Seems like I've slept most of the last 2 days. I've packed my meals for tonight, set up my uniform, and fed the critters.

Earth Day 2010

Thursday, April 22, 2010

This planet is not terra firma.
It is a delicate flower and it must be cared for.
It's lonely.
It's small.
It's isolated, and there is no resupply.
And we are mistreating it.
- Scott Carpenter, astronaut

Nature is not a place to visit, it is home.
- Gary Snyder

O Goddess Earth, O all-enduring wide expanses!
Salutation to thee.
Now I am going to begin cultivation.
Be pleased, O virtuous One.
- Ancient Sanskrit prayer

Had to Call Off Work

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Slept most of last night and again today - I reset my alarm twice - had planned to get up at 1500 (3P) and walk the pups, plant my new plants I brought yesterday, do dishes, etc. Tried for 1700 (5P) - finally got up at 1800 (6P). Let the pups out. Drank my supplements - promptly barfed. Not a good start. Waited a bit - still not right. Called in.

So - no gym this morning, no dog walk, fewer than 1000 steps so far . Almost no food intake. Yep - looks like today is a definate "rest" day.

Critters are volunteering to help.
