Turn-around Day

Got off at 0800 this morning. Fed the critters, fooled around online, played with the furbabies a while. Slept 4 hours, made myself get up and go to the gym @ 1700 (5P). Did the treadmill for an hour, then the strength circuit. Since no one else was using it, I did 2 sets on the machines. Gym closed at 1900 (7P), so I just had time to finish - I usually shower and change before I come home, but no time today. Good thing my critters don't seem to care what I smell like. Walked the pups for only 21 minutes (instead of our usual 36 minimum) tonight. My knee is acting up again (actually hurts less while I'm walking; more when I'm resting)

I've been watching a really lame movie (Spring Break Shark Attack). One of those you think can't get any dumber or worse acted, but it exceeded all depths of under-expectations. I must be sleep deprived! Gonna finish this and go to sleep.

Making Up for Lost Sleep

Whew, slogged thru last night, tired as I'd expected it to be, but made it. Got home, changed into my dog walking clothes, and got on the computer "for a few minutes:. Huh - there was a Law & Order marathon on ... ended up getting one of my "fell alseep for a few minues watching TV" episodes. Walked the pups for 45 minutes when I woke up - getting warm by then, but not too hot. Sahalako thought otherwise, but came along.

Finally got to sleep after 1230. This is a short night for me - I worked 4 12-hr shifts last week, so this week was 2 12's and tonight is an 8. I'd almost forgotten - good thing we looked at the schedule last night! Took 2 sleeping pills and became unconscious for hours ... ummm. Critters tried to wake me around 1800 (6P) for dinner, I just turned over - got up at 2200 (10P). Just finished feeding everyone and am trying to get my head straight before showering and getting ready for work.
Gots to go ...

Insomnia Strikes Again

I'm not a good sleeper. I have trouble falling asleep on purpose, but will fall asleep watching TV, reading, or even at the computer. I can't stay asleep long - when I fall asleep like that I usually sleep only a few minutes. When I sleep on purpose, I still wake up to turn over every couple of hours, or to make bathroom break in the afternoon when I'm sleeping daytime for night shift work.

I'm having another of those days when I went to sleep about 1030 in the morning, woke up at 1600 (4P) to go potty, and couldn't get back to sleep. I usually get up around 1800 (6P). I have the sound machine going, TV set to a soft music channel, fan on, sleepmask ... tried progressive relaxation, which felt good, but I was still awake at 1700 (5P). Aargh!!

Maybe I should go to the website www.cutethingsfallingasleep.org - but although they make me go "awww...", I'm a little jealous.

I know the flip-flopping shifts from nights to days (on my nights off) doesn't help, but I'm just not a dayshift worker. I used to tell people I wasn't awake on days until after 10. They didn't believe me until they could actually see my eyes brighten! Too bad the rest of the world isn't in sync with me.

I know tonight, probably about 4 or 5, I'll hit a wall. Wow,that's something to look forward to!

    Loved the pictures! Sorry about the insomnia but I understand it, I have the same problem, I can be wide awake at 5 am and have to get up at 8 to take Brian to work then I come back home and my mom calls at 9 then I set the alarm and sleep til 9:30 or 10 and have to rush to get to work by 11:30. I have my cloths and jewellery already picked out and set out, my lunch and snacks packed so I can get ready quick. LOL insomnia is definitely no fun!

    I have the same problem. I can't seem to sleep long hours. I think this is a normal thing for those that work nights. I haven't met anyone who gets over 4 hours sleep at one time. I'm lucky if I get over 2 hours in a single shot. Just think Thomas Edison slept only in increments of 20 minutes. I don't like pills either and they don't seem to have the desired effect when I've tried them. Maybe going to a doctor and asking their opinion is worth a shot or maybe go to webmd.com. emoticon

  awww I know how you feel! My dear husband has the same problems. Lately I have been all mixed up with my sleeping to! { I have never been a morning person, gag LOL! Hang in there... people keep telling me to take Melatonin for sleep... so far took it once... went right to sleep but few hours later I was right up again?they said I didn't take enough of it????? I hate pills... sigh... but It might work to help you out? I loved the pet photos!! So very cute!

Slowing Down to Sleep, Then Revving Up For Work

Got up about 0430 (OK, really got up 0500, but I was awake @ 0430). Got to the gym at 0800 - I'd stopped just before that to pick up veggies and Activia yogurt for work, and ice to keep them cold while I worked out.

Treadmill - 60 minutes (3.57 miles). 30 minute circuit for strength training. 35 jumping jacks in the ladies locker room for the Quickfire challenge. Got home, put the frozen stuff away, and gave the bag of ice to a neighbor since my freezer is stuffed. Walked the pups our usual 1.56 miles thru the neighborhood.

I wasn't singing along with my music today. Last night, I was walking the pups thru the neighborhood - it was dark (pups had their blinking lights, I had a flashlight on my belt. ) Hughey Lewis' Heart of Rock and Roll came on. I was doing a little boogie dance, punching the air, and singing along (the heart of rock and roll is still BEATing!) Samurai started trying to pull to the side - I thought he was just being critical, until he started barking. Oops - a couple came around the corner with their little dog. They waved back. I slunk off, pups in tow.

Just finished enjoying a 6 inch sweet onion chicken teriyaki sub, loaded with veggies. Yum. About 370 calories, according to calculations. Worth it! Now I have to snooze, then get up for another fun-filled night at work.

    LOL I sing in my car to music and often have the windows cracked open, sometimes at stop lights when I am really into a song I see people staring at me. LOL I just smile and keep on singing. If you can't be a rock star in your car or on your walk, what fun is life? LOL

Sleepy Lazy Day, But Got It Done

Had trouble sleeping last night - I was up until 0130 or so, then slept off & on until 0930. Fed the critters, and let the pups out. One of the cats, Sahara, loves to go out in the front yard, too.
Shalako expressed her opinion of the cat being out.
while Samurai guarded the little garden.

Another rainy day, so I was lazy and sleepy all day. Finally dragged myself to the gym at 1500 (3P) - an hour on the treadmill (while I read about 45 minutes), then did the abduction and adduction machines (they're not on the circuit I did yesterday). Went to dinner at Golden Corral. Having one of those days when I'm trying to make calories and carbs at the end as opposed to yesterday, when I exceeded them). Walked the pups. Getting sleepy again ...
