Hot Summer Days

Thursday, July 09, 2009

I walked the pups another new way today - ended up being 3.6 miles. Shalako is getting better at trudging along, but I still carried her twice for 5 minutes each, and watered the dogs twice in the walk . Started at about 0800 and finished at 0930. Or, started at 71 degrees ending at 78 - and that's in the shade! I'll have to start sooner tomorrow, or we'll melt.

Had a late lunch/ early dinner (lunner? dunch?) at Golden Corral. Walked over, so I logged another mile for the round trip. Big salad, a variety of small meat/fish/chicken servings, lots of veggies. By the time I walked back, the sky was getting dark and the wind was gusting at 29 mph. Whoo! It's cleared up now.

In honor of the Challenge Team, based on Rocky Balboa, I have changed my picture for a while. How ya like it?

I realized I had less than 50 pounds to goal, so I changed one of my Spark Teams from "50+ pounds to lose" (I love the pix)
to the "50+ members with 25-49 pounds to lose" Yea!

Vacation Continues

Wednesday, July 08, 2009

Walked the pups a slghtly different way thru the neighborhood today - 90 minutes, so quicker than yesterday and a little bit longer. Carried Shalako 6 minutes, but I've started carrying a water bottle and empty cat food can (hey, it's light, little, disposable, and I get one a day from feeding the cats) so the pups can suck up water and Shalako is actually doing better. Samurai NEVER gets tired. I did some "sprint walk minutes" a few times.

Got the dog food today. Pups are happy.

Did The Challenge workout this morning - it's a butt-kicker!

Trying to stay within my nutrition parameters - it's harder when I'm home and around the food all the time. When I pack my meals for work (assuming someone doesn't bring in pizza), I stuck with what I took, and generally satisfied.

Y'all be good, now!

Day 2 of Vacation - That's What I'm Talking About

Wednesday, July 08, 2009

Now this was more like vacation. I walked the pups 3.7 miles today - long, leisurely walk. Got home, and I'd planned to go to the Long Leash on Life pet food store and get the Primal food for the pups. Managed to waste the entire day instead. Good thing I had dry food for them - altho both Shalako and Samurai looked at me as if to say, "OK, where's the REAL food?" Poor abused puppies - NOT!

The cats volunteered to help.

Tomorrow will be more active!! Strength work planned from the Challenge Team (Go, Blue Rockies!) and Quickfire Challenge, another walk in the morning while it's cool - and really planning to get dog food. It's good to have a plan.

Sushi Doesn't Like Me

Monday, July 06, 2009

I had a busy day planned today - smash-o-gram (mammogram) this morning, dogs to the groomer, lunch with Bex, a mandatory work class, fitting of a face mask for work, shopping for groceries, and picking up the dogs. Got the smash-o-gram, came home and changed to my walking and walked the pups over to Petsmart. Walked home (round trip about 1.2 miles), changed back to the clothes I'd worn to my appointment, and met Bex for lunch at the Samurai (yep, same name as my boy dog).

I'd checked out the better choices suggested in SP, and got the tuna sushi. Good, not great, but I was enjoying it. Don't know if I didn't chew it completely, or it just didn't like me, but it came back up (discretely, in the ladies room, not at the table!). Dang. "Charged" myself for about a third of what I originally ate.

Did the class, then went to employee health. We have to wear protective masks in cases of TB or other severe infectious respiratory illnesses. I have mild reactive airway disease, so I couldn't get fitted in the group sessions. They've been after me for weeks to go in and get fitted. Dropped by Employee Health and saw a doctor who "cleared" me for fitting - they'll call me later for a fitting, I was told. Shoot.

Got my groceries and ransomed my clean, cute, clipped pups. Shalako has bows in her ears, and Samurai has a bandana. Somewhere along the way, I lost the SP pedometer. It clips onto the waistband, and jumps off randomly. I've dropped and found it about a dozen times today. Maybe it'll show back up again. I'm not happy with it.

This is my first day of vacation. I'z tired!

oh man! You just got that pedometer. If you find it get some duct tape, they have it in fashion colors now, to match your scrubs.

That's just a bummer. I was looking at them at the sporting goods store and I could not find one under $20 bucks. Wouldn't have bought one there anyway, no one helped us, or even said hello to us, guess they thought we were to fat.
