My long-lost older brother called me today - it's been over 40 years. Let's just say, my family was one of those that put the "fun" in dysfunctional. (Parents divorced, boys went with Dad, girls with Mom). We caught up some - turns out he lives in Florida, and has business in Albuquerque fairly frequently. Sheesh! We hope we can get together on his next trip.

I walked the pups this evening starting just before the annular eclipse started. I had my eclipse glasses. It was amazing - I could glance over quickly towards the sun and it seemed as bright and full as ever - flip on the shades, and it looked like PacMan. The moon chomped further and further into the sun. Even at the full eclipse, to the visible eye, you couldn't tell (of course, to prevent eye damage, all I could do was take quick glances). I tried putting the shades in front of my iPhone camera lens, but it looked totally blacked out. Dern it!

An annular eclipse (moon in front of the sun) is coming Sunday evening, and Albuquerque, NM is right in the main pathway. Yeah! Gonna get the special viewing glasses so I can watch it and not go blind - it'll be starting about 1830 (6:30P), total between 1933 and 1938 (around 7:30P) and ending when the sun goes down shortly thereafter.
Bill Withers recorded this one in 1971. I found a few eclipse pictures that didn't have anything to do with the movie ... or vampires.
