Unchained Melody

Monday, February 06, 2012

A classic love song ... Written in 1955 for a movie called "Unchained" (hence the name), the Righteous Brothers recorded it in 1965, and it was used for the movie "Ghost" in 1990. Who can forget the potter's wheel scene?

Oh my love my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long lonely time
And time goes by so slowly

And time can do so much
Are you still mine
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me

Lonely rivers flow to the sea to the sea
To the open arms of the sea
Lonely rivers sigh wait for me wait for me
I'll be coming home wait for me

Oh my love my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much

Are you still mine
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me

Oh yes, the pottery scene. Never will forget that one. Made pottery look really fun if Patrick Swayze was there LOL!

You Got It

Saturday, February 04, 2012

1989, Roy Orbison wrote and sang it. What a voice!

Everytime I look into your lovely eye
I see a love that money just can't buy.
One look from you I drift away
I pray that you are here to stay.

Anything you want - you got it
Anything you need - you got it
Anything at all - you got itbaby!

Everytime I hold you I begin to understand
Everything about you tells me I'm your man.
I live my life to be with you
No one can do the things you do.

Anything you want - you got it...
Anything you want - you got it
Anything you need - you got it - anything at all!
I'm glad to give my love to you
I know you feel the way I do.

Anything you want - you got it...
Anything you want - you got it...
Anything at all - you got it -
baby - you got it!

Mama, He's Crazy

Friday, February 03, 2012

From I'm crazy to he's crazy. The Judds, 1984

Mama, I found someone
Like you said would come along
He's a sight, so unlike
Any man I've known

I was afraid to let him in
'Cause I'm not the trustin' kind
But now I'm convinced that he's heaven sent
And must be out of his mind

Mama, he's crazy, crazy over me
And in my life is where he says
He always wants to be

I've never been so in love
He beats all I've ever seen
Mama, he's crazy, he's crazy over me

And, Mama, you've always said
Better look before you leap
Maybe so, but here I go
Lettin' my heart lead me

He thinks I hung the moon and stars
I think he's a livin' dream
Well, there are men, but ones like him
Are few and far between

Mama, he's crazy, crazy over me
And in my life is where he says
He always wants to be

I've never been so in love
He beats all I've ever seen
Mama, he's crazy, he's crazy over me
And Mama, he's crazy, he's crazy over me

Crazy (for loving you)

Thursday, February 02, 2012

From a song about someone being "Always on My Mind" to a love lost and feeling "Crazy" about it, this one was also written by Willie Nelson, and I remember the Patsy Cline version the best, although many, many others have covered it. 1962

Crazy, I'm crazy for feeling so lonely
I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted
And then someday you'd leave me for somebody new

Worry, why do I let myself worry?
Wond'ring what in the world did I do?
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying

And I'm crazy for loving you
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you.

You Were Always On My Mind

Wednesday, February 01, 2012

According to Wikipedia: "Always on My Mind" is an American country music song by Johnny Christopher, Mark James and Wayne Carson, originally recorded by Brenda Lee in 1972. Lots of people have recorded it - I like Willie Nelson's version (1982).

Maybe I didn't treat you
Quite as good as I should have
Maybe I didn't love you
Quite as often as I could have
Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Maybe I didn't hold you
All those lonely, lonely times
And I guess I never told you
I'm so happy that you're mine

If I made you feel second best
Girl I'm so sorry I was blind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
Give me, give me one more chance to keep you satisfied, satisfied

Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
