So much better last night - I actually had time to go into the break room and eat my food.
Yesterday morning, after a horrendous night, a cardiac patient came in by ambulance, Code 3. That's lights and sirens, racing as fast as they can safely drive. (Code one is normal driving, no flashers or sirens, Code 2 is flashing lights). They had radioed ahead with the details - the cardiac cath team beat them in and was waiting for the patient. She was in the ER and out again in less than 30 minutes. Up to the cardiac catheterization clinic and got her arteries open. Yeah!! Of course, that left us on an adrenalin high - just what we needed at the end of a long shift (NOT!)
So, after 2 bad nights for us, and 2 equally bad days for the other shifts, back to our usual. Scary, in a way. For a while, the staff out-numbered the patients.
Tonight is my short night - only 8 hours instead of 12. I walked the pups for an hour - had to do just the mile wak the last 2 days. Getting tired now - gotta go get some sleep.
