Re-evaluating my eating

Thursday, August 16, 2012

Hi my name is Dawn and I am addicted to McDonald's breakfast.
I know it sounds kind of funny, but I love, love Sausage McMuffins and chocolate chip cookies for breakfast on my drive into work. I kep saying I could give it up, but I didn't.

I am McDonald's free now for 7 days. The only McDonald's I had was this past Saturday when I volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, make a meal program. I, along with co-workers made breakfast for those staying at the house.

In place of McDonald's I have been having a banana & yogurt. My lunches have really never been an issue, but those have gotten better. And my husband & I have made dinner every night this week.

Tonight when I go meet with my trainer, I can tell him....7 days McDonald's free! Yay me.

good job! keep asking yourself.. is it worth it? cause those mc-y d's can taste good but they leave ya craving more and more and really are "bad" calories. (as you know) so happy happy happy for you that your breaking a habit! its hard to do. the first 3 weeks are probably the hardest. i was a frozen coke junkie. so i get it. ;)

Keep you eye on the prize!!! way to make a small change that WILL add up!

One good choice at a time and your continuing in the right direction! emoticon

Keep on keep'n on!

    Congratulations!!!

Here in my office "weirdly" lots of employees eat breakfast in the office in the morning, lots of them eat cereal, it is what I do too, I prepare my cereal qith Splenda in a hefty cup and with a disposable spoon before leaving my house, and I eat it as soon as I get to the office, I have 3 different kind of cereals, so I don't really eat the exact same thing everyday, and it works for me, when we have cold weather I do oatmeal and instead of cold cereal, I get the oatmeal... Just trying to give you some other options for your breakfast....

Hugs,

Awesome for you!!! I am sure that stuff IS addicting because that's exactly how it's supposed to be. The longer you stay away that faster addiction will be broken. I use to LOVE McDonald's fries...until I saw that Super Size Me documentary then I went cold turkey........that was 9 years ago and I have not had McD's EVER again. It's also the ingredient list that helped me out alot...when I read the ingredients to their buns and sauces and what not I saw that it wasn't even food so it made it even easier to stay away...we really do kill ourselves in this country....I just wanted a documentary on YouTube that really was very interesting, "The Weight of the Nation". I guess the more I learn about food and how and what it does to my body, the easier it is for me to choose real food...I still have the occasional treat but nothing how I use to eat!! Keep up the good work!!!

Has it been that long? What have I been up to or not?

Friday, July 20, 2012

Wow, it has been over a month since I blogged. My goal was once a week. I guess I could say life got in the way. So much has been happening family wise, all good things though.

I continue to struggle on the sugary/fatty stuff. I stll enjoy them. What can I say? Am I a failure because I do? No. I am trying to cut it down. I don't think I can cut it out all together. What keeps me here is the fact that I need to lose the weight. I am not necessarily looking to hit a specific weight. I am looking to hit a size 12. For me that would be a size from high school. Right now, I am an 18. I can feel inches going away. Clothes fit better, still not close to being in the next size down, but I will get there.

Right now, I continue to go to the gym 4-5 days a week. 2 of those days are workouts with the personal trainer I hired. He is a welcome addition to the program. I also get in my water for the day. I have cut back on soda.

I am going to work on recording EVERYTHING I eat, just not what I feel like recording. By not recording everything, I am lying to myself about what goes in my body.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

You are making great progress. It is tough to cut out everything we love. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I have the same problem with sweets, it is diffcult to "eliminate" them... but as you do, I try to limit myself too

Have a Marvelous Weekend, it was great to hear from you.

You're definitely on the right track! Hang in there! I was a size 16/18 less than two years ago, so I can relate to your journey...I did the same exact thing when it came to my food log. I didn't use Sparkpeople again up until late June, when I simply couldn't afford the online fee for WW anymore. I have to say I am doing much better with Sparkpeople food tracking...seeing the actual calorie count of foods as opposed to the point system is a much better tool for me. It makes me sit up and take notice of what I've actually consumed for the day. I wasn't really diligent with exercise either up until I joined Golds Gym last November (my 50th birthday present to myself).Great that you have a trainer - half the battle is just getting yourself there so you are overcoming that obstacle! You can do it! emoticon

Worth It!

Monday, June 11, 2012

I had a friend/trainer check in on me today. I told her I was doing ok with the exception of a few migraines lately. I told her about the workouts and she was good with what I was doing. I then told her I would be doing the best I could if I could stop eatung ny very unhealthy fast food breakfasts. She point blank said to me, "you are so much better than the cra you put in your mouth. You & your body deserve better."

I have been thinking about that today and she is totally right. I always knew it...but I got reinforcement today.

I can do it. I will do it. I AM WORTH IT!
And so are all of YOU!

Not only great advice but the perfect way to motivate someone, as well.
Your body deserves quality fuel. It's always great to get the most nutrition you can, for your calorie intake.

Yes you are worth it! I am really guilty of eating for convience and it shows. I did so much better losing weight when I brought my breakfast and lunch with me to work. Lately, it is whatever I can grab and it is crap. Crappy food is crappy fuel. We all need to treat ourselves the best we can. We only get one body, better make the most of it.

Now....I have to practice what I preach...........

Need to set some goals...

Friday, June 01, 2012

I see so many people on here set goals...and have decided maybe that will work for me, too. For the last month, I haven't lost any weight at all. I have recorded most, but not all of my food. So it was deceiving in my mind...I thought I was doing better than I was, but why wasn't I losing any weight. I also started the 5k rookie 8 week program. Workouts are never the problem. I love to workout, it gets out frustration, stress, and gives me an exhiliration.

What goals am I setting for the month of June:
-My brothers wedding is July 14, I would like to lose 10 pounds.
-Go to the gym 4-5 times a week
-Finish the rookie 5k training program
-Start drinking my protein/energy shakes for breakfast again
-Measuring myself every Friday
-Most of all, I am going to be honest with myself and hold myself accountable for the food I eat

I need to get back on track! I can do it! I will do it! I will let you know in 30 days....but with updates every week.
