Insanity Day 5 - Pure Cardio

Day 5 of Insanity and I am feeling awesome. The Pure Cardio workout is billed as one of the hardest workouts to do in the first month. You are sort of working up to it the first four days. I was very gratified to realize that I could do most of the exercises for the full amount of time set for each, and didn't take any more breaks than the folks on the DVD. It is very helpful to see the people on the DVD who are obviously in very good shape having to take rest and water breaks - especially the guys. :-) I'm really liking this workout!

Day 4 is lots of stretching and balance/yoga exercises. Much more low key for recovery purposes and stretching out the body. Still made me sweat though. :-)

  


Insanity Day 3 - Power Cardio

What Power Cardio taught me today was that I have little power. :-) This one kicked my ass. I think my focus on upper body for the last month and ignoring lower body strength is catching up with me at this point. The tricep dips were easy for me, but the most basic jumps took all my strength and concentration to power through. I had to rest for a full set during the squats/push ups/sprints segment. Looking forward to cardio recovery tomorrow.

Insanity Day 2- extreme cardio

Day 2 - and I am dripping sweat as a post this. It was an awesome cardio workout. One of the things that I love about this video is that the participants (really buff men and women) get their butts kicked by the workout too. They have to rest in the middle - which makes me not feel so bad when I do it. emoticon

OK - did the Insanity "Fit Test" to get the benchmarks on where I am beginning the program. I did pretty well with each of the six cardio exercises, though it is pretty intense. Worked up a better sweat than I have had in a long time. But it felt really good and I have a great sense of accomplishment. Actually had a sense of accomplishment getting out of bed - 6 a.m., pitch dark, cold, and I could have stayed snuggled up in my nice warm bed! Getting up early at this time of year is often my hardest challenge. emoticon
