Back on board

Thursday, September 20, 2012

So - had surgery about three weeks ago (actually almost a month now) and got a clean bill of health from the doc on Tuesday. He also warned me that the body de-conditions within 36 hours of stopping all exercise. So - take it slow getting back into a workout routine. For the last two days I've been doing quarter mile walk/half mile jog for twenty minutes on the treadmill to get back into the groove. So far, so good.

An Odd Way to Gauge a Run

Sunday, August 12, 2012

So - I've been running five or six miles on the weekends and three to four miles during the weekdays. And lately I've been keeping my shirt on for the entire run and then taking it off when I finish. So I've noticed how far down it gets soaked with sweat depending on how many miles I ran. This morning I noted that there was about one inch of dry shirt left at the bottom at five miles. So I calculate that I can completely soak a shirt at 5.25 - 5.5 miles on a mild day.

I think I need therapy....:-))))

ok yea therapy may be need to that one. maybe try a food wicking shirt and you won't notice so much or just run a lot faster so it dries quicker.

ps hope all is going well with the stress i your life. anne and i are praying for you guys

ROFL!!!!! Too funny....and too true! Yesterday my player quit at mile 6 of my 10K race...my thought was...darn I should've charged it last night seems like it hasn't been holding a charge....got home and went to plug it into the charger...nada...tried a different charger...nada....tried the computer cord....nada....my husband started looking at tigerdirect for a new one for me and he popped the minisd card out of it....it was soaking wet...uoh...apparently I can measure my runs by how quickly I can wreck an mp3 player! Oops...well...putting it in a bag of rice helped to dry it out...it's working again but think I need to find a dryer place to carry it on my runs, clipping to my shirt is not a winner!

Ready for vacation

Wednesday, June 06, 2012

I can always tell when I'm ready for vacation when on Monday I'm happy and excited about the coming week, and by Wednesday I'm wondering "is it Friday yet?" :-) I still have today tomorrow and Friday to go, but I already feel like I put in a full week. Two weeks to vacation. I am soooo ready!!!

The perils of showing off

Tuesday, June 05, 2012

So this past weekend my three year old was practicing her push ups - which mostly involve her doing a plank and then moving her hips up and down. :-) I was trying to show her how to do an actual push-up, and then to show off - as my wife put it - I did several moving push ups. Fast forward to this morning - when I picked one of the Insanity videos to work out to, and didn't realize that half way through the exercise you have to do is - moving push ups. So I'm dripping sweat, and ready to drop dead and I hear "moving push ups - come on!" and I'm ready to stop and the little voice in my head says - "ok, show off, let's see it!" It was painful, and humbling. :-)))
