Back on track!

Thursday, June 28, 2012

I knew it was coming, that despite my new approach and better program, a plateau was going to slow me down. And sur'n'uff, it hit me, but still it was a surprise and a dissapointment. But being here before on previous journeys that ended in success has helped me accept that plateaus are just a part of everyone's journey and to keep doing what you have been doing and maybe do a double check on your measureables to make sure they are accurate and on point. So, two weeks of no loss and now, this week a two pound loss. I am back on track for sure.

IT'S FOR REAL THIS TIME

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

I must admit, after so many missed re-starts with my new healthy lifestyle program I was hesitant to announce yet another start to my adventure to better health. But now, after one month of developing better eating and exercise habits and experiencing a ten pound weight loss, I am well on my way, excited about the past month and looking forward to continued success. My motivation is to look back at my reasons for wanting to change my life:
1. I want to go into a regular clothes store/dept. and find my size.
2. I do not want to "guess" if the XL will fit - or if I should I buy the 2XL.
3. I want to button the top button of my dress shirts without crushing my larynx.
4. I want to have a closet full of clothes that fit me.
5. I want to be able to jump on the scale, anytime, anywhere.
6. I want to be ablel to tuck my shirt in without worrying about it coming back out.
7. I want to find pleasure in drinking pure water.
8. I want to have a night stand drawer empty of candy and treats next to my bed.
9. I want to breathe normally after going up a flight of stairs.
10. I do not want to "Start" another diet, ever.
11. I do not want to feel shame over a failed weight loss plan ever again.
12. I want to pass up the "Sweet and Salty" snacks aisle.
13. I want to go into a health food store and not feel stupid or scared.
14. I never ever want to feel like a prisioner in my own body.
15. I want to celebrate my victories with lean, rather than mean foods.
16. I want to be a great example to my wife and kids.
17. I want my boss to know that he has a team member that is a great role model - in all ways.
18. I want to hear people say that I "look great!"
19. I want to crave "healthy" rather than "fast" foods.
20. I want to look forward to being in photographs.
21. Never again should I have to say "I want to", but rather "I am".

I think we all start over many, many times. That's life. I know I have taken off and kept off 30 something pounds for the past 5 years. Which is a good thing. But my goal was another 10-15 pounds, but I haven't reached it......yet. Yes there have been plateaus, moments that I feel like I've done so good so far, what's a little of this or that, and some gains of 5-8 pounds, that I've ended up taking that back off.

So I know what you mean about starting over. We both know what it takes to succeed, so we've probably gotten complacent, and feeling good about where we are at so far. At least, I think that's what it is for me. But I'm down to 147, which is the lowest I've been in 2 years for sure! My next goal is 140, and when I get there, I'm going to decide if that's where I need to be, it might, but if not, it will by 135-138.

You've already demonstrated you can do this! BTW, I love the list, I would like to copy and save it, if that's Ok with you. We have to do whatever it takes to keep the focus.

Thank you so much for sharing! It certainly struck a cord with me.

Have a great Michigan day!
Take care,
Donna

Golf 2012 Starts Today

Sunday, March 11, 2012

Finally, the 2012 Michigan golf season starts today with my first round of the year. This is the earliest time ever, due to our very mild winter and apparently early spring. Now I can get some REAL outdoor exercise into my fitness program!
