Golf - finally

The weather has been horrible up here in Michigan for the past couple of weekends, and weekends are my golf opportunities. This weekend is no different - a poor weather forecast.... so I am leaving work early on this beautiful end to April and getting in a round with my friends at a course close to my office. I intend to walk the course to maximize the exercise!

    Denny, I was a club pro for about 20 years. In the early days I always walked and carried my bag. (You weren't cool if you took a cart.) Of course, when you do that, you are interested in having a small bag with not too much stuff in it. I never had a problem with weight in those days.

Over time, many of the courses started "requiring" carts. I got used to it and it became a habit. I even got this HUGE "pro bag" ... NOT a good idea if your cart ever breaks down way out there. I started gaining weight around that time ... purely coincidentally, of course.

Also, if you walk/carry all the time you'll probably want to get golf shoes about a half-size to a size bigger. Your feet will swell up about 25% when you do that. We sold a lot of golf shoes so I was sensitive to that info when I sold them. My customers thanked me over and over. I always wore bigger sized golf shoes than street shoes.

I don't play any more ... I can't stand it ... takes too much practice to play decently and I'm just not up for it any more. Have fun -- good luck to you!!

Tuesday's and focus

I like Tuesday's. The weekend seems long past and the next, long to come. So, my focus on my program is clear and commanding. I am albe to plan accurately for the next three days with confidence that I will not be distracted nor derailed. Food and exercise will be contolled and acurately recorded. Yep, Tuesdays are good.

Easter Crash

It was due, and sure nuf, the crash happened.
Wine and Easter do not mix... not that well. One's guard is lowered and inhibitions go out the door - and so do nutrition plans.
Alas, I will move on, wiser and more vigilant in the future!

    Yup, just a bump in the road... it happens. Good to hear you are still on track.

I've been drinking a little more wine this week too. The outcome for me is that my weight is holding steady, not creeping upwards. So this is telling me what maintenance looks like... still pretty careful about what I eat and drink!

It's a choice though, right? I feel a lot better and have a lot more energy when I trim down.

A new golf season......

This year I am determined to use golf as a part of my exercise plan. I promise to seldom use the cart, but to walk the course as my fellow player comands the left side of the cart, bringing my clubs to my side when needed.
