Vigilant Fridays

Friday, September 18, 2009

Fridays can be strewn with land mines. Usually I am so happy to be done with the week's work that I find myself in a celebratory mood, kicking back and partaking of wine, food and fun. I need to substitute, knowing that my health will bring me even better enjoyment in the long run.

I always enjoy a day with golf in it. Its two for one - exercise and the best sport to be involved in!

On Labor Day you relax - kind of an oxymoron?

It's usually about getting things done around the house and yard since I don't have time to do it during the week or on our busy weekends.

Morning Fog Escape

Sunday, September 06, 2009

The early morning fog surrounding the woods behind my home was beautiful this morning. There was an extreme stillness and calm in the view that engulfed my very being. As I sat in my favorite chair and sipped my morning coffee looking out the window, I was at ease, my breathing long and measured, my worries gone, my body limp... just me and the fog and my coffee. I bathed in the moment, holding on and on. A great way to escape before the start of my busy day.

Emotions turn to motion

Saturday, September 05, 2009

This past month has been stressful. Moving my mom up here to Michigan from her Florida paradise, against her will (due to Alzheimer's). Then my 4 year old grandson's emergency liver transplant two weeks ago (very successfully!) - while all the time at work we are laying off people right and left and I am in charge of sales.... the very stuff that saves them from being laid off. The past 10 days straight my department has been negotiating with a Korean firm that will be building a new battery plant in Michigan - we want to build it. Our final proposal was sent out last night. Not sure what will happen, but it is what it is. All through these adventures I have worked out my stress with golf and exercise...... instead of food. I have lost some weight and improved my health. For that I am thankful!

I understand about Alzheimer's, my Mother-in-law has it. Praise for the GrandSon's blessing. Prayer for complete recovery. I do hope the jobs come in.

Thanks for sharing with us.
