2nd day of Polar Golf!

Sunday, August 23, 2009

Yesterday it was quite "cool", today it is downright cold! Oh, well, walking the course will help keep me warm.

A little cooler here in London, ON. Yesterday, a drizzly day. Got in 18 holes, but, got a bit wet. Today, rain with a chance of thunderstorms. We're still heading out and hope to get in a full 18 holes without getting soaked. A damp day on the course is still better than sitting inside watching the boob tube. emoticon emoticon

Golf - My favorite exercise

Thursday, August 20, 2009

My favorite exercise is walking (I like to smell the roses along the way) and my favorite walk is on a golf course. I typically let my partner drive the cart while I walk. Past history with a pedometer tells me that an 18 hole round results in about 10 miles of walking! During a 4.5 hour round, 3.5 hours is spent actively walking - the more rigorous the terrain, the better. This weekend I have two rounds booked, the following weekend three rounds - so that means that the pounds will most certainly come off if I stick to my nutritional program, and I will!

... and if you golf like me, you end up walking 15mi for 18 holes!

59 - A wake up call

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

OK, I have decided that I will continue to have birthdays.... but they will no longer be counted. The only one that needs to count them is the Social Security Administration - and I have a feeling they will let me know when it is time to start calling on them.

However, 59 IS a huge wake up call, the last year of my fifth decade and the age when most of us seriously start to look at, or plan for, soon to be activated options. Afterall, a life well planned is often a life well lived.

Well, my health is right up there at the top of the list. So I intend to start with that immediately. There is no doubt that I need to be more healthy then my present condition. This pause in the action has given me time to reflect and to re-energize my committment to a more healthy me. Every day, this year (the last year in my 50's) I intend to be more healthy than the previous day. 365 days from now I will definitely be ready for my next decade.... or die in the process. LOL!

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Well, I figure 59 years is enough birthdays - so I quit having them going forward from now on.

Too funny Dennis ... I stopped counting at 29 ... I have been 29 and holding for a LONG time ... LOL ... my daughter turned 28 yesterday and I have 4 grandchildren .... age is only a matter of mind ... if you don't mind, it doesn't matter ... but we don't have to tell ... broadcasting is optional ...

Haven't spoken for a while ... Are you going to the Spark Convention in Ohio in September?

An August week in Florida

Monday, August 17, 2009

I am back after a week in hot, muggy, Florida.
My scale says I am down five pounds - but I think it is mostly water that I lost during the week!
