Stir Crazy - Winter lock-up

Saturday, February 28, 2009

Late February and early March here in Michigan create challenges to any SP program. After a long winter of doing all there is to do indoors, we crave for outdoor experiences. When additional cold weather keeps us indoors, it becomes frustrating. One has to be careful not to give in to over eating - mainly for the sake of boredom. Keeping our goals and objectives clear helps a lot!

Without a couple of close friends we are lost. We lose our ability to navigate life's challenges. We loose the ability to know where we are. If we do not know where we are, we lose the ability to go where we want.

    Hi Denny,

I agree. I could write a book on why I agree. Friends can empower you to achieve new heights, pull you from an emotional abyss, be there when you are suffering loss, they can make you laugh when you want to cry, they share your joy! The list goes on.

As you say, we navigate through life with the help of our friends...

You, me, this team and all the other folks on the Spark highway to health have all the Spark tools at our fingertips and they are very useful tools. Even with this knowledge, we struggle with the demons that made us overweight in the first place.

That struggle is our common bond and I am sure out of that bond has come many friendships along the way. Me personally, I am inspired by the people I have met , read success stories about, and the friends I have made.

Simply put, this has given me the strength and direction to continue to fight my demons.

I am moving in the right direction!

Being honest with yourself

Thursday, February 26, 2009

My biggest challenge to my program is myself. I am my best friend, but I am also my worst enemy. I find that honesty cuts through everything. When you are honest, things get done. So when I say to myself, "How will eating this help you achieve your goals" - I need to be honest, ...everytime!

Nice insight. It is so true that we can easily be our own worst enemy. Best of luck to you in your fitness journey.

Tough Road Day

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Just one of those days where I had to eat, when time permited, on the road. Smart options were limited so the program suffered - but just for one day.

One day at a time

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

I need to get to the point where my plan is like breathing, part of my soul, part of my existence. Maybe it will never happen, but it would be nice. I think the trick is not to let the program be my life, but rather to have it a part of my life. Sometimes we get very compulsive about weight loss - I will try to be less compulsive and more natural.
