Colds - Good or Bad

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Coming down with a mid-winter cold. Sometimes these things can derail my SP program by knocking me off my daily routine. Other times they help by keeping my mind off sweets and snacks. I am determined to let this cold run its course while staying on mine.

Just like SNOW DAYS (days off from school due to snow storms) affect one's educational momentum, HIGH CALORIE DAYS challenge one's ability to continue on their path to better health. It is best just to shovel the snow, clear the driveway and walks and get on with one's life. Nuff said

In the Zone

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

7th week into my re-start SP Program and doing great - in a "zone", like pitching a no-hitter, or a goalie during a shut out, a receiver who can not drop a pass or Tiger Woods during a string of birdies where every putt drops in the hole no matter how far away. Things just seem to go right, with very little effort. So, I will keep on, keeping on and ride this "zone" to success!

This morning's weigh-in confirmed my anticipated success with my recent aggressive weight loss program. Two and a half pounds gone, never to return again, giving me a total loss of 20.5 lbs lost since early December, 2008. Only 2.6 lbs away from breaking the 230 mark and then on from there - all the way to my goals of 219 by May first and 190 by the end of the year.
This week will see lots of fish, veggies, fruit and very low cal snacks. NO WINE or ALCOHOL!

I think you have it right this time, Dennis. As I recently mentioned, you have my respect.

Your success continues to inspire my efforts to achieve similar results. I think I have it right too. When we meet again, I think we will both be surprised and happy for the other.

High Regards,

The passing... and fears dismissed.

Yesterday I attended my former mother-in-law's funeral. Although relations have been cordial and friendly between my former wife since our divorce some 22 years ago, and I was called by her and encouraged to attend the funeral, one wonders what the "other" former in-laws were going to think and say. I decided that those thoughts should not influence my decision to attend or how to behave. I would be there for my ex and our two adult children and their kids (our grandchildren) and would proudly attend with my new bride of 19 years. Well, things went very well, everyone was very kind and gracious and sincerely glad that I was there. Sometimes the things we worry most about do not deserve the attention we give them. It is best to be comfortable with who you are and strive to do what is right. Why do we have to keep re-learning this?
