Vacation regret and renewal

Sunday, August 14, 2011

I got back from a week long camping vacation yesterday, my son wanted to take his new wife to a spot we used to go a lot as he was growing up
It was great to be there again - but as I walked the familiar trails I remembered the last time I was there about 7 years ago and I suddenly thought about how I felt the last time I was there
I was working out regularly, lifting weights every week
I felt good! I was strong and i knew it - I felt it every moment
As I was struggling to carry things I never gave any thought to 7 years ago and got winded to hiking trails I still knew I realized that this is not me
This is not how I want to feel or be
This was the slap in the face I needed to make me get back in shape and be the person I know I can be - want to be - and used to be
I have not felt this determined In a long time

I know exactly what you mean. I also have a favorite spot that requires a long hike to get there. Struggling up the hills some years back made me want to lose weight get in shape.

Thanks, Bruce

Two lbs a week is the most recommended by doctors. It is healthier to loose slower. Plus if you drop a bunch quickly then you'll have saggy skin and no one wants that!

You lost 2 lbs in a week, that's a high end goal for me. My goal is 1/2 to 1 lb a week. Those people who lost 5, 6, and 11 lbs won't be able to maintain those loses each week. Remember, it's not a race (but if it was slow and steady might be the best plan).

At the end of the day, though, it's not about how much weight you lose in a set period, but how much healthier your lifestyle is. Your body may be building up to lose more weight in the future. If it makes you feel better, I've been eating healthy and swimming regularly for the past two weeks, after a Christmas break where I stuffed my face full of far too much food, and I haven't lost any weight at all yet. But I am sure it's making a difference, and at some point there's bound to be some weight loss.

Be happy for yourself. You still lost. Dont' starve yourself. Always remember that it took years to put on the weight and it will take a while to take it off. The girl who lost 6 pounds metabolism may be higher than yours. Your body is different from theirs. You may need to exercise a little more, eat more smaller meals. Your body and metabolism is different from theirs. So I am proud and happy for you losing 2 pounds!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

The great. Sparks experiment

Monday, January 10, 2011

So about the tine I got serious about using sparks again a funny thing happened
Several people in my price got serious about losing weight too even though I tried to get them to use sparks they went different routes four joined weight watchers and one joined nutra systems and of course I stayed here
I am interested to see how this turns out
I guess I better stay on track to give sparks a god name !!

I started up again. I wsa using Spark People for a year and not really following it as I should have been so was depressed about not losing the weight. Then I found a doctor who had pills that worked for me losing weight but made me feel like I was going to be sick, I would have to suck on a mint. Nothing is fast and I know that it took years to put the weight on but I am trying and really working at it now (finally for myself, not for a wedding gown, not for a cruise, not for a reunion or anything like that, just for myself!)
