Changing Daily Journal

Monday, November 06, 2006

I'm switching to a fuller journal mode -- i.e. back to the "Morning Musings" paper journal. I'm finding that I want to add more personal feelings and info and don't really want to do this online. I'll try to touch in here now and then re: health/diet/fitness changes, progress, insights.
The beach was great. Our diet was replete with both healthy AND pretty indulgent foods. So I mostly got all the nutrients I needed in a good form, but also a LOT of calories from great homemade cookies, Pumpkin Flan to die for, wine, and cracker and cheeses munchies. So I'm back to 150.... We did have a great walk on the beach Saturday in rain and gale force winds -- what great energy! Really helps one to get in touch with the Life Forces inner and outer.

Off to the Beach Tommorrow...

No, not the South Beach, tho that would move me a lot closer to my goals. Down to Newport with 2 women friends to visit a 4th. Should be a fun trip and visit, but while I'll do my best to eat healthy and not overindulge, well.... Not going to track food for the next 3 days. Might get some good walking minutes in, tho. So no reports (at least not complete) until Monday.

Blue Light

Wednesday, November 01, 2006

My second day with the Apollo Blue Light - did 30 minutes at 100%. Can definitely feel the effect - didn't feel the need for that second cup of half-caf, and was ready to DO something (and did).

Try try again

Have really been unable to stay with my intentions these last several days. Had slipped back into depression surprisingly quickly with the lower light intensity and hours, plus gloomy weather. Was back to feeling that most things (tracking meals, exercising, moving...) were more effort than I was able to muster up. And CRAVING carbs and alcohol. Talked with J this am and she advised me to check out blue light therapy for the winter depression. Have been using white, but had read the report on promising studies with blue recently. Did so and ordered one today. Am looking forward to getting back on track. Will finish this week out as best I can and plan on an official "restart" on Sunday.

Back to 149. Going out for dinner the other night started me on a slippery slope. My entree was good -- salad with grilled shrimp -- but having some of the bread and a martini.... Not Good. I guess I really will have to go back on SB-I (South Beach Phase I)to get over the carb cravings.
